Story
Hi, I purchased Chico when he was around 12 weeks old. He is now 4 years old. His birthday is October 10, 2019. He is a big baby that still thinks he is puppy. He is my big baby. Last weighed in at 110lbs. Last vet is at Banfield Pet Hospital. He is very loving and playful. He gets excited to see people including the vet. He is not overly fond of bath time but he does not mind getting his nails clipped. He plays well with other dogs, adults and children. He love toys and get excited to see new toys. He likes to play tug and his form of fetch. I used to take him to PetSuites every Saturday for all day play. He loves outside and it is hard to get him to come in once he is out. He has a great appetite and he is not picky. He has always been on a limited ingredient diet food. He loves fresh fruit and veggies. He is a protector. He barks when he hears people outside the house and when people knock. But he has gotten lose and doesn't try to bite anyone.

Hi, I purchased Snoop when he was around 12 weeks old. He is now 4 yrs old. His birthday is March 17, 2020. He is a big baby. He is so laid back I have often referred to him as my expensive throw pillow because he just lays around watching everything. He occasionally chew on toys but he refuse to play fetch or tug. He just wants to be loved on all day. Loves attention and the more you rub him, the more he smiles. He is not aggressive at all. He even like the vet. Rarely barks. Get along well with people, other dogs, and kids. He hasn't been near a cat so unsure about those but he doesn't bark at them when cats pass by the patio door. I use to take him and his brother to PetSuites every Saturday for all day play. He is good with bath time but isn't that thrilled with getting his nails clipped. He kind be picky about food. He has been known to skip dinner every once in a while especially if the extras aren't added. Goes to potty on a schedule of 6-7am, 3-4pm and 9-10pm.

Story
My dogs name is Bella, and she just turned 4 in February. She is very loving and energetic and sweet. She will literally run circles around you all day long without getting tired, she loves to be rubbed on and to have all of your attention. The only reason why I am deciding to find her a new home is because I just had my first child and it is incredibly hard to find the time to give her all my attention. I want/need her to go to a great loving home, someone that will have all the time in the world for her like she deserves. I will not let her go to just anyone, I love her too much to settle. I also really need her to go to someone with a house and backyard so she has space, she currently doesn’t have that right now and I know that is something she needs. She is a house dog and she is house trained, she is not an outside dog. She is obedient she knows a few commands. She does pull sometimes on walks. She does have skin issues which the vet said was hereditary to for her breed.

Benson is an energetic  All American dog. The vet estimated year of birth is 2021. He loves people and loves attention. He walks very nicely on a leash and doesn't pull or zig zag. He needs a good introduction with confident dogs. ~Adoption donation $300. All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and neutered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Story
Hi there, I'm Lottie! I'm a young, sweet, and curious gal. I'm a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, my goofy and energetic side shines through. I love exploring new things and I'm smart too! I've mastered the art of 'sit' and 'stay', and I'm working on 'stay'. I'm a bit scared sometimes, but with a little patience, I'm sure to warm up. I'm also quite the comedian, my funny antics are sure to keep you entertained. Why should you adopt me? Well, I'm full of love and promise to bring joy and laughter into your life. Bonus: I love other dogs of all ages and sizes of humans. Not sure about cats. I do need a fenced-in yard and another dog. Come meet our adoptable dogs on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm in the backyard at AARF's new location- 302 Thurston St, W-S. Go to AARFWS.org to view and apply for our AARF dogs. Information about the process is available on our website. Remember that we do not adopt more than a 45-minute radius from our facility in Winston Salem.

Heavy is the perfect "house hippo"! While he loves to play with other dogs and run in the yard, he is an all-star cuddler when it's time to come in and relax. He craves human attention and love, so he would be your very best friend if given the chance. Heavy has the best manners too, he never jumps on you in greeting, but instead will roll over at your feet and ask for tummy rubs! He is quiet, gentle, trained, and well-behaved, just the total package! Heavy is a very handsome boy with beautiful white markings and soulful eyes that will melt any heart. He even has a bone-shaped spot on his back! Heavy is crate trained, house trained and loves talking walks (he has wonderful leash manners too!) Heavy loves everyone he meets, dogs and humans alike and would make an amazing family pet! He can't wait to see who his forever family will be!

Apollo is a stunning boy with a black accent over his left eye. He has the most soulful eyes that are an amazing shade of green/gray! He is an adorable "house hippo", a stocky low rider who just wants to be your best friend. Apollo is wonderful with other dogs, but if he had his choice of playing or receiving pets, he will choose getting petted every time! He is one of the most affectionate and loving dogs who would make a perfect family pet! Apollo is well socialized and enjoys meeting new people. He is great on a leash and always up for a walk - especially if it means he gets to meet new people and dogs! He is very attuned to his people and wants to please. At the end of the day, he wants nothing more than to snuggle and cuddle with his people. Apollo loves going on adventures car rides too! He is crate-trained and knows basic commands. He is not a barker but will let you know if someone pulls into the driveway! If you are ready for a best friend, Apollo is your man!

Story
Sweet Kiki is one of the best dogs! She is a docile, affectionate little lady who just wants to show you all the love. She came into rescue with her puppies and now that they are grown, it's her time to shine! She has fun playing in the back yard with her doggie foster siblings, but her favorite pastime is being around her foster family and getting in lots of pets and snuggles. She is an extremely affectionate, medium-energy dog. She loves walks around the block but can spend a lot of her day snuggling with you on the sofa. She thinks she is a lapdog and loves to be close to her people. In her foster home, Kiki has been great with housetraining and using her crate. She walks happily on a leash and has been making progress on ignoring distractions she encounters outside the house (like squirrels or other dogs). She can get nervous meeting new people and encountering new things, so she needs her new family to be patient with her as she adapts to their home and neighborhood. She learns quickly, as she loves treats and is quite intelligent. She has done well playing with dogs in a yard at doggie day care, but she is way too interested in cats for their safety. She has not interacted much with children. She enjoys a calmer environment where she can just relax on a dog bed or the couch. Kiki likes the indoor life and will be your Netflix buddy for those Saturday night binge-a-thons! If Kiki sounds like your kind of girl, fill out an application, she can't wait to meet you!

Story
Oakvale is a beautiful, long-legged boy who loves to prance around in the play yard like a deer! He is exceptionally smart and is eager to please, which makes him fairly easy to train. This stoic boy takes treats gently and enjoys to stop and sniff on his walks. He could use a bit of leash training, but we think he'd learn quickly since he's so treat motivated. Oakvale very much enjoys playing fetch, especially when you trade a ball for the one he has! Oakvale went to short term foster and proved to be awfully affectionate/cuddly and housetrained. He did show some signs of separation anxiety in short-term foster, but he did not try to break out of the crate! With time, we think he'd settle nicely. Oakvale recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "I took Oakvale on a Dog's Day Out today! Oakvale started out a little timid but he is now napping on the couch with my husband. Oakvale got to meet my dad and stepmom downtown and then had so much fun playing fetch at Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens! We had lunch at Freddy's and he enjoyed a pup cup. Oakvale went for a walk in our neighborhood and was well-behaved in our house while our dogs were resting in their crates. This boy has been searching for a home for almost 3 months and he is more than ready to be a sweet companion. - Affectionate (but may take a little time to warm up to you) - Pretty good walker-he pulled a little when we first got him out but overall not bad. Likes to stop and sniff. - Loves to fetch! When he brings the ball back sometimes he makes a funny snort - Good car rider-at times slightly hesitant about jumping in but he gets in on his own! Much of the time in the car with us he lay down and napped. - He was initially interested when we ate our lunch in the car but was polite and didn't bother us. - He loves to sit for a treat! - Oakvale is a very handsome fellow and has cute speckled ears!" Oakvale has shown that he can be dog selective. He gets nervous when crowded by dogs (so he prefers no doggie day care) or when a dog is reactive to him. He'd do best with a more laid back, submissive, and/or playful dog. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
