Story
`Roscoe is a big-headed, big-hearted cuddle bug who enjoys a good walk, sniffing games, and the occasional burst of zoomies before settling in as close as possible to his person. He loves puzzle toys, treats, and playtime, knows sit and down, and genuinely enjoys training. He does best with routine and enrichment and can entertain himself, but he’s also very people-focused and affectionate once he feels comfortable. Roscoe can be strong on leash and may pull, so continued leash training will be helpful. He has liked some of the dogs he’s met so far and would benefit from slow, planned, and monitored introductions to new people and pets. He appears housetrained, with some leeway needed during the first few days in a new routine. Roscoe can be a bit anxious at times, especially with car rides or brief separations, but he settles well with reassurance and structure. My adoption fee has been fully sponsored.Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!

Story
I was transferred to OCAS from another shelter. I`m a sweet gal and I have done well with staff handling me at the shelter. I can be a dog selective, meaning I do well with some dogs but not with others. Like all newly adopted pets, I will need slow, monitored introductions to new people or pets in a home. Visit this page for more information about properly introducing pets. Please consider adopting me, I`m a great dog!Foster notes on Megan:`We first stopped by Food Lion to get some canned dog food as a treat. I then drove to my house and she did great in the car just curious and but really wanted to seat beside me in the passenger seat. Megan and I then took a 30 min walk around my neighborhood and within minutes she learned that I didn`t like pulling and she responded with some quick corrections and walked by my side. We then came in side and she was curious about my home and just explored room to room and then enjoyed some food. Then we relaxed and she was respectful and did not come on the couch. We then took another walk and she remembered not to pull. Such a sweet, wonderful, intelligent lady! Very smart, a quick learner and doesn`t pull on the leash.`

Story
I came to the shelter as a stray, so not much is known about my history. I have a really cute face and lots of wrinkles! I can be aloof but with patience and yummy treats I can warm up. Staff always recommends slow introductions to any new people or animals in the home. I would do best in a home without kids as I am still working on being more confident and having manners in new situations, and I`ve had some issues with resource guarding. Please ask the front if you have anymore questions about me.INSIGHTS FROM MY FOSTERS/ADVENTURE BUDDIES:`He`s very friendly. He was anxious with loud noises. Liked watching TV. Thought he was a lap dog. Has very happy pleasant demeanor, was a bit anxious then would calm and become a total goofball. He just wanted all the love and belly rubs and treats.``Cowboy was a fantastic companion. Once you can get him in the car (lifting or bribing) he settles in quickly. He LOVED the farm and Marla, Mojo and Cookie.  He was great with all the animals he met (we were in Carrboro later) and while other dogs were coming in hot, cowboy had no reaction and let them work their issues out. He also was great when we were sitting at Dingo Dog he was patient and stuck close. He does try to counter surf, but when we said to get down he did. One thing I did learn is that he can’t swim…he was trying to check out the pond and fell in and I almost had to jump in cause that boy sank first ( scared us so much). But thankfully we got him and he shook off the water and went on his merry way. He is a good boy and was gentle with me, my daughter (they were attached) and those he met around town.`

Story
🐾 Introducing Sweet Honeybun! 🐾 Sweet Honeybun is a joyful, affectionate girl with a playful spark and a whole lot of love to give. Curious and energetic, she thrives with a steady routine and would shine brightest as the center of attention in her forever home. While she gets along well with other dogs, she’s happiest when she can soak up all the love for herself. This smart pup is house-trained, crate-trained, knows how to sit, and takes treats with the softest, sweetest manners. Sweet Honeybun absolutely lights up when meeting new people. She feels most comfortable in a small, calm household and would do wonderfully in a low‑energy environment. On walks, she stays relaxed when passing other dogs and is continuing to refine her leash skills. She’s ready to bring her goofy grin, gentle nature, and endless affection to a family who will cherish her just as much as she’ll cherish them. HEALTH She’s spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully current on vaccines and preventatives. HISTORY Sweet Honeybun is from a local shelter where she arrived as a stray. She was a staff and volunteer favorite. PHYSICAL She has a slim, athletic build, a short fawn coat and white chest.

Story
💛 Amelia is a sweet senior lady with a calm, loving spirit and a heart full of quiet loyalty. Though her face may be a little gray, her eyes are bright, and her trot is steady. She would make a great work-from-home partner or study buddy and is the perfect mix of laid-back and ready-for-adventure. Here’s what else makes Amelia such a gem: 🐕‍🦺 Great on walks: Doesn’t pull, trots along happily, and responds gently to light leash pressure. 🍽 Easy eater: No food sensitivities here! Amelia eats whatever she’s given and never makes a fuss. 🦴 Polite treat-taker: Gently takes snacks and will sit attentively while she waits. 🚗 Car ride ready: Jumps in with minimal help and loves to go along for the ride (though she’s careful getting down — possibly due to mild arthritis). 🐾 Easy-going personality: Doesn’t chase cars, or overreact to other dogs or new people. Just a calm, composed sweetheart. Amelia has done great meeting other dogs at adoption events and public spaces. She previously lived with two other dogs and is happiest with regular dog and/or human companionship. Although Amelia previously lived with several cats she's not up for new feline friends at this stage in her life. 💉Amelia has been fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She’s ready to find a home that appreciates the love and ease a senior dog brings. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, loyal companion to enjoy walks, quiet evenings, and simple joys, Amelia might be the perfect fit. She’s ready to love and be loved. 💛
