Story
RESILIENT SPIRIT AND BIG HEART  DOB 3/1/22, Weight 50 lbs.  Hey there, everyone! I’m Amigo, and I’m a sweet, gentle white American Staffordshire Terrier mix fella. I’m well-named because “amigo” means “friend” in Spanish, and that’s what I want to be --- your friend. I was initially shy when I first met my Foster Mom, but once I warmed up to her by learning that she’s gentle and that I can trust her, I’ve been a happy canine marshmallow ever since. I adore going on walks with her as well as when she trains me because they’re great bonding times for us. Playtime is my favorite part of my day, and she has several dogs that fill the bill – especially the girls and the small ones. You see, I was found hiding in some bushes at the pool in my foster mom’s neighborhood. I had a lot of emotional scars from the way hoomans had treated me as a stray, so I was terrified of the Good Samaritan who tried to catch me. Thank heavens that he was persistent, and his consistent gentleness convinced me that he had my best interests at heart. It’s amazing how resilient I’ve become as I've learned that not all hoomans are scary. True confessions: I still get a little scared on adoption days – but there’s the chaos of barking dogs and swarms of people. However, I love treats, and they save the day for me at adoption events! I’ve come such a long way in my socialization that I’m pretty proud of myself – and so is Foster Mom! So it’s time for me to find my forever family. I’m gentle and loving, sweet-natured, extremely loyal, trustworthy, and affectionate -- which all add up to making me an ideal family dog. And did I mention that I’m eager to please and possess a very all-round mild, playful, pleasant temperament? Arrange to meet me today! I want nothing more than a loving, patient home where my hooman will let me blossom into the true “amigo” I was meant to be!  HOPE ID: D24-0224-0005 If you are interested in Amigo and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php . Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com and a volunteer will get back to you. September 18, 2024, 2:20 pm

Story
Meet Mermaid, loving social butterfly who loves people of all sizes. Don't let this sweet face trick you into thinking she is a couch potato; Mermaid can be energetic, loves walks, and enjoys playtime in the yard. Hi, my name is Mermaid, and I am a 4 1/2 year-old, 60 lbs, American Staffordshire Terrier mix. I was saved by my foster mom from a local kill shelter, but now I need to find my forever home! I get along with other dogs, but I prefer male dogs. I’ve never met a kid or adult that I didn’t like, I will take all the attention i can get. I am an energetic, healthy girl! I enjoy going on walks, playing in the backyard, I am crate trained, I know sit and stay commands, but my foster mom says I tend to forget if I get too excited. Check out my video, and please apply to adopt me at www.htxdogrescue.org.
