Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you're looking for a furry friend that's full of fun, smart and energetic then Gunnar is your boy! He and his litter mates were born just a week after their momma was rescued from scrounging in a train yard. Gunnar is so much fun! He loves running after his 6 pound foster sister and playing tug with his rope toy! He's so proud of himself when you ask 'where's tug?' and he runs to find it! He'll prance around with his head held high! This boy loves people! Once introductions are made he quickly wants to be your friend. Gunnar is such a lovable clown. Walks are a great adventure! He would be best in a home with another dog to bond and play with. Older respectful children would be a bonus! He would be a wonderful addition to your family! With his soulful amber eyes and wrinkled forehead he will steal your heart! ========================================================= Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area.  Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events.  Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
LadyBug - AmStaff - Female - 2 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Ladybug: this gorgeous 2 year old Amstaff girl was rescued from the streets where she was likely dumped after having provided puppies - she is still regaining her girlish figure now that she is spayed. Ladybug LOVEs people, she has never met a stranger and identifies as a Lap dog. She is bouncy and energetic, but loves to snuggle and loves attention. She is pretty strong and is working on her leash manners, she rides very well in the car and is house and crate trained. She is smart and loves treats, especially Peanut Butter. When she first meets new dogs she is a little reactive - if they are rude, so is she. As she is new to our program we are still getting to know her and what kind of dogs she can or cannot live with. She is interested in the cats, her intention still to be determined.  At this time she is looking for a home with a rather strong handler as she is a bit of a "house hippo" and pulls rather strong on the leash when walking. She would do best as an only dog, and is likely to bouncy for young kids.  ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bailey is a happy, friendly, gentle and lovable boy.  I often catch him staring at me with the kindest eyes.  He loves with all his heart.   He gets along well with large and small dogs, loves everyone he meets!  Great with children as well.  Bailey is very calm.  Loves to snuggle!  He enjoys playing with my other large dog Indy.  Bailey will crate with no problem but prefers to be out with people and pets.  He is house trained and is never destructive when left alone.  He learned to use the doggie door on his first day with me.  He saw my other pets go through and out he went!  Bailey sleeps in his doggie bed in my room at night.  He sleeps all night with occasional soft snoring. He often climbs in doggie bed with my doberman.  He is very gentle with my 16 year old miniature poodle  She loves Bailey.  He is the first foster I have had that she loves and gives kisses to. He gets very excited when I return home and whimpers a little from happiness.  He loves to give a welcome hug.  Bailey loves to go for car rides and on walks.  He pulls slightly at first from excitement but quickly slows and walks beside me.  When off of his leash at the stables, he comes as soon as called.  Bailey is my shadow at home.  Bailey will be your best buddy ever!!     =============== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. Story
Lovey - Boxer mix - Female - 9 months - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Lovey: This GORGEOUS and sweet Boxer mix girl is about 9 months old and full of energy. She is very smart and learns quickly, food motivation certainly helps. She is crate and housetrained, leash training is in progress. She loves to play with balls and is getting a hang of the return-to-sender part for continuous play. She is great with other big dogs, loves to play  and chase and tends to be vocal when doing so. Playing with little dogs needs a little help as she can be a little overwhelming for them. As she is still a pup, she comes with "puppy emotions" - she's a bit dramatic at times, still learning and mouthing and gets her feelings hurt when corrected and redirected. She also recovers really quickly. She also knows how to enjoy calm time and is an expert cuddler. She is good with teens - all of her puppy energy is barely contained when she gets excited and she gets the zoomies and will likely jump and run, so older kids that understand and can navigate her learning process are best suited for her. Lovey is looking for a home with another dog for her to play with, older kids are ok. She can manage a regular work day as long as she gets plenty of exercise, training and attention around working hours - she needs someone who is willing, able and excited to harness her puppy energy and molds it into a well rounded member of the family.
