However, as we said, we are the LUCKY ONES! Another local rescue said, "we can help, even though we are full to the brim" and JUST LIKE THAT- REAL LIFE!! We are in a wonderful foster home will be spayed shortly and ready to find our LUCKY FAMILIES!! If you want to be one of our families, please apply to adopt! I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please CLICK HERE to sign up to foster! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt. Remington is a very sweet boy. He definitely needs some extra TLC and someone who can help him come out of his shell and start to explore the world. He does not do well with other dogs and unsure about cats or kids- but I would say he would do best in a home where he is the only animal and no small children. He is great with men and women and a huge teddy bear. He is very nervous on a leash and of new places; but, with the right home and time, he will be such a wonderful addition to the family.

Story
Hi! My name is Butch and I am from Missouri. I am looking for a new foster family! Please CLICK HERE to sign up to foster! From the foster: Meet Butch! We have had him for six weeks and he was very shut down when he came to us, but has blossomed into such a sweet and affectionate boy. He is fearful of new people, and warms up to females, but he takes much longer to warm up to men and will need additional training to build trust with men. Butch is an anxious boy who is regularly taking anxiety medication and needs patience and additional training to build his confidence and help him settle in. He is a big hunk of love, weighing in at 88 lbs. He is dog-friendly, we have one resident dog and others have come to play. He is crate and house trained, calm, sweet and attaches quickly to his person. He would prefer to be near you at all times. He's a big fan of stuffed toys, bones and he LOVES cheese. He's pretty respectful of boundaries and gates and has very nice house manners. Butch is not bold but he is loyal. He wants to be loved and a part of the family and after you build initial trust he'll do his best to be brave for you. He is a flight risk, having a fenced in yard will help immensely. If not, be sure to be intentional about double leashing and having a secure hold. He will have training support post adoption from the rescue to help him gain confidence and aid in relationship building with his new family. Butch will make a wonderful addition to your life - he is a big goofy sweetheart looking for a secure and stable home where he can shine.

River is looking for a foster or her forever family! Please CLICK HERE to sign up to foster! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt. Foster Update: River follows the lead of my resident dogs. She loves to run around and play in the yard when it is dark outside, because that is the quieter time in my neighborhood. It's very cute. We are pretty much potty trained with occasional accidents when she gets scared. She is still shy, so there will be an adjustment period when she goes to a new home. River is a sweet dog who will make someone a great pet. Hi! My name is River and I am from Missouri. River is a sweet, but very shy pup. She loves cheddar cheese for treats, and might even be persuaded to take it from your hand. She loves to chew on her Benebone, and maybe any bed or blanket you place in her kennel. She startles at loud noises, so a calm, quieter house would be best for her. She will does require a fenced in yard. She is cat friendly and gets along with dogs with a slow introduction. She really is the sweetest girl.

Story
I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please CLICK HERE to sign up to foster! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi! My name is Tundra and I am from Missouri. Though I'm a big girl, I am really just a puppy. I enjoy sleeping and staring at everyone around me with my big, beautiful eyes. I'm very shy, so my ideal home would have a lot of patience and be willing to take it slow around me (literally and figuratively). I am hand shy, but if I sniff your hand first then I have no problem with letting you pet me. I get scared when people run at me, so I would do best in a home with older or no children. I am on anxiety medication to help with my jumpiness. I am house trained, and will tell my humans when I need to go potty. I'm also crate trained, and will sit in there no matter what without a fuss! I don't have much energy, but I do love being outside and munching on my favorite snack--grass! Men scare me, especially if I see them make sudden movements, and I will bark and lunge at them. I'll hide from dogs at first, but once I get to know them well I like to play! I sleep a lot, and love snuggling next to the people I feel safe with. I'm pretty stubborn in my eating habits, and won't feel like eating from my bowl until I've had a bite from mom's hand. Told you I need a lot of patience! Aside from that, I am a super sweet girl that just wants to feel safe and secure. If you can give me that, I will be a happy puppy!

These pups are in St Louis Park, Minnesota too!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 02/08/2021 Requires another dog in home: No, picky about her friends Okay with dogs of all sizes: Not good with small dogs - read more in profile  Okay with cats: No, dog savvy cats only Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, considerate kids only Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Raquel. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. I am an unpredictable gal with a high prey drive so cats are not a good fit for me; I’m reactive when it comes to other dogs or unknown/sudden sounds like bikes whizzing by etc.; and I’m a pack follower so if there’s a fight, I may feel compelled to join the chaos. That said, I went to a training facility where there were many other dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I may overcome these ‘quirks’ of mine!! Hee, hee! Anyway, my favorite activities include cuddling with my people; going for leashed walks; snoozing on the couch; eating; playing with squeaky toys; chewing on bones/sticks; chasing the cat; chilling with my canine sib; running zoomies; and barking at strangers outside! I don’t like a lot of commotion and have been known to bite if someone comes into the house when foster mom is not home. I am, however, a very smart girl who will not only give myself a kenneled ‘time-out’ if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!?! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier! Hee, hee!! I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me! My heart is SO full of love that I really want to share with YOU…please be my new family, I assure you I’m worth it! Love Raquel NOTE: Raquel has had a DNA test and is 38% Belgian Malinois, 18% Boxer and 17% American Pitbull Terrier Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.      ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello! My name is Zeus and I have one of the most handsome faces you will ever see! I came to MN from a shelter in Arkansas and I’m so happy my friends at Underdog are taking such great care of me! I wasn’t in the best shape and my dear foster family is feeding me healthy foods, giving me medicated baths to take care of my skin issues and helping me heal. You would not believe how much my skin has healed and how amazing it feels to have healthy fur!  When I came, I had very little fur and my vet team thinks I was eating bad foods (maybe from eating off the streets) and was malnourished.  They also think I was having issues that were caused from past over use of antibiotics because some meds we tried didn't seem to phase me.  I don't recall my full past, so it's been quite the journey, but this new life full of love and attention is just SO great! I cant wait for my own forever family to find me.   I am great with all the other dogs in my foster home – there are an assortment of dogs and I am a very gentle and good boy with everyone. I like to clean their ears and be near my friends. I love to play with dogs my size, but because my medication I can become a little overstimulated over food or super yummy treats so will need to be supervised. I was very malnourished before coming to Underdog so put a lot of value on my food. To help with this, all the dogs in my foster home are fed separately. Speaking of meal time – I do have a special diet so my skin issues don’t flair up again. I like Raw Bistro beef or bison. My foster family has tried so many foods before they found one that wouldn’t irritate my skin. We tried kibble, canned food, vet prescribed food and thankfully found a quality raw food. I love it! I will need my forever family to continually monitor my skin issues and be in touch with a vet if I start to have flair ups again. My ideal home would have dogs my size or smaller that will respect my space when I have food or treats. I don’t really like getting bossed around so a dog that doesn’t demonstrate dominate traits would be a good match. I am doing great with all my dog skills – I am crate trained and potty trained. But … I have a little secret. I do dribble a little pee when I sleep so my people put a potty pad in my bed just in case. Embarrassing, right? I’m trying my best but likely it is because my medications. I don’t need a fenced yard in my forever home but would appreciate it so we can run around the play. All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a big ol’ dog bed for me to relax. Can’t wait to meet you!
