Story
Betsy was on a final plea list from a southern CA animal shelter when we picked her up. The shelter had been seeking rescue for her for quite some time with no response, primarily due to her behavior. Betsy isn't very accepting of new people and a new owner will need to give her plenty of time to bond without making demands on her. In our opinion, she's more of a working dog than a family pet. In other words, she's a serious dog, not a cuddler. She will make a good protector of her domain, and hopefully she'll be accepting of the folks she comes to know and trust. At 2 years old, Betsy is full-grown and she's solid, at 43 pounds. *We try to keep our posts up-to-date but there may be more dogs available for adoption than we have shared here. Please go to our website at www.dobiesandlittlepawsrescue.org to see all of our available dogs and fill out our adoption application.

Story
Meet Fizz: Your New Loyal Best Friend! Are you looking for a devoted companion who is as sweet as her name suggests? Meet Fizz, a stunning 3-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart of gold and a gentle soul.Fizz is the perfect blend of typical Cattle Dog loyalty and a quiet, sensitive nature. While she might start off a little shy, once she knows she’s safe, she becomes a Velcro dog who will stick by your side through thick and thin.Fizz’s Ideal HomeFizz is looking for a specific kind of kingdom where she can truly blossom. Here is what she needs to thrive:Only Child Status: Fizz is a `people person` through and through. She isn`t a fan of sharing the spotlight with other pups, so she must be the only dog in the home. She’s ready to give you 100% of her love!A Patient Start: Because she’s a bit timid in new environments, she needs a family willing to give her a few days to settle in and find her confidence.Medium Energy: She loves a good walk and some mental stimulation (Cattle Dogs are smart!), but she’s also a professional at nap time.

Story
Macky is a fun sweet guy that our family fell in love with quickly. He's playful for hours and will be a constant buddy. He is easy to train and loves as much attention as he can get. He is well behaved indoors, no big problems. Good behavior in the dog yard although he'd rather be with his people. He's good at relaxing indoor especially if you put him on a line. We love so much about him! Macky has high energy and is always up for a good time. He keeps his ball with him and is devoted to it. He walks great on a leash but doesn't have much experience being away from home or at the dog park. He is silly and so easy to love and enjoy. He loves his family and loves kids. We are so sad that we need to find him a new family.

Story
Scout is a very sweet, loving boy who deserves a home that can truly meet his needs. Scout is an Australian Shepard mix who was adopted from the shelter in August on behalf of my retired parent in-laws. While he is a really good dog, it has become clear that they do not have the capacity to provide the level of training, structure, and management Scout requires. This decision comes from a place of love and wanting what’s best for him. Scout is affectionate and playful, loves playing with his balls and absolutely lives for belly rubs. He bonds strongly with his people and has a lot of love to give. When adopted, the shelter disclosed that he has behavioral challenges. Despite our efforts to work with him, Scout is very reactive toward other animals, children and bystanders. Because of this, he must be the only pet in an adult-only home with someone experienced, patient, and committed to ongoing training. He is currently being tormented by raccoons and skunks in the mountain community.
