Story
Woof woof, hi there! I'm Chuck, the one and only. I might come across as a bit reserved and cautious, but let me tell you, there's a heart of gold beneath this fur. My journey hasn't been the smoothest ride - I've seen the world from the streets, where every rustle in the bushes and every passing shadow was a potential adventure or danger. That's probably why I've developed this keen sense of alertness and rational thinking. Survival mode, they call it.You know, I used to roam the great outdoors all by myself, finding shelter wherever I could, learning the rhythms of the streets, and observing the humans from a distance. I have to admit, they puzzled me a bit. But now, I've found myself in this wonderful place called SPARC, and boy, has my perspective changed. It's true, I might take a little time to warm up to new faces. Meeting strangers used to be a dicey situation for me, but I'm trying to make progress! With a proper introduction and patience, I've shown that I can overcome my initial hesitation and embrace the chance to make new friends. I've even started to wag my tail more often - it's a sign that I'm opening up, you know. You see, all I really need is a bit of love, a dash of attention, and a good dose of mental and physical activities to keep my paws moving and my mind sharp. A home that understands my past and is willing to offer a fresh start is all I dream of. I might be cautious at first, but once you earn my trust, I'll be unconditionally loyal. I believe in second chances, and I'm ready to give my heart to the right human. So, if you're looking for a buddy who's more than meets the eye, someone who's faced challenges head-on and is ready to embark on a new journey of companionship, then look no further. Let's make memories together and show the world what second chances can do.

Story
Lady is a sweet-natured female dog with a heart as soft as her fur. Though she may appear reserved at first glance, her gentle demeanor and kind eyes speak volumes about her loving spirit. This timid beauty is looking for a special someone who understands her need for patience and tranquility. Lady thrives in calm environments where she can feel safe and secure, allowing her true personality to blossom like a delicate flower. Her low energy level makes her the perfect companion for leisurely strolls, and her impeccable leash manners make walks a joyous experience for both her and her handler. Lady respects boundaries and appreciates clear communication, making her a delightful addition to any home. However, Lady's shy nature shines brightest when she's given the opportunity to be in a foster environment. With the warmth and comfort of a nurturing foster home, she can slowly but surely come out of her shell, revealing the playful and affectionate soul within. If you're someone who embodies patience, kindness, and understands the beauty of a gentle soul, Lady may just be the perfect match for you. Open your heart and home to Lady, and watch as she blossoms into the loyal and loving companion she was always meant to be.Are you ready to welcome Lady into your life? Contact SPARC at 805-525-8609 to learn more about fostering this special girl and providing her with the love and care she deserves.Together, let's give Lady the chance to shine and find her forever happiness.

Story
Betsy was on a final plea list from a southern CA animal shelter when we picked her up. The shelter had been seeking rescue for her for quite some time with no response, primarily due to her behavior. Betsy isn't very accepting of new people and a new owner will need to give her plenty of time to bond without making demands on her. In our opinion, she's more of a working dog than a family pet. In other words, she's a serious dog, not a cuddler. She will make a good protector of her domain, and hopefully she'll be accepting of the folks she comes to know and trust. At 2 years old, Betsy is full-grown and she's solid, at 43 pounds. *We try to keep our posts up-to-date but there may be more dogs available for adoption than we have shared here. Please go to our website at www.dobiesandlittlepawsrescue.org to see all of our available dogs and fill out our adoption application.

Story
Racer is a newly-rescued Queensland Heeler (Cattle Dog) who came in with a female Heeler, so we paired them in our kennel. Racer seemed to become so overstimulated in our kennel environment that he bullied the female, so we placed her separately. He was then kenneled with a female Doberman, and that didn't go well either. Racer may be able to live with another dog in a home environment that is less stressful, but he might also do better as the only dog. He's just a year old, and he's small, at 29 pounds. The folks at the vet clinic where we had him neutered said he was calm and well-behaved.

Orzo is also very cuddly. She likes to follow you around the house and lie with you on the couchwhile you watch TV. She gives lots of kisses and loves all the belly rubs and scratches she can get. She also loves toys! Her favorite has been a frisbee but she also likes stuffed toys that squeak or crinkle. She loves to play fetch or tug. She loves her small social circle. Slow introductions work best for her success!

Story
Hi! I`m Asher! I was very scared when I came to the shelter, but I`m learning to make new friends, both human and canine! I`m still a bit of a timid boy, and prefer to take my relationships slow--I`m not a kiss on the first date kind of guy! I think I would prefer a quiet home while I`m figuring out the world, but my friends at the shelter say I`m doing a really good job and even though they love me, they would love it even more if I were in a home.

I love being active, but not into that gym life. I am not super athletic, but I love sports- recently I have been getting into frisbee (catching is hard) and swimming. My love languages are Physical Touch and Quality Time. I am searching for the real thing, not a short term relationship.I am looking for:My forever home. I am ready to love deeply. What my friends say about me:A bit of a doof, playful, slightly insecure, and as loyal as can be.The way to win me over:Belly rubs!!! A game of fetch doesn’t hurt either. My simple pleasures:Bouncy balls and hiding shoes
