Story
Panda came to AHeinz57 with her puppies all the way from OK. The puppies have been adopted so it is now her turn.Panda is an almost 2-year-old cattle dog mix with a playful spirit and a gentle soul. She’s fully housebroken and doesn’t need to be kenneled - she’s a respectful housemate who just wants to be part of the family. Panda lives with two dog and two cat siblings and gets along great with them. She especially loves playing with her husky cousin and tends to gravitate toward bigger dogs when it’s time to romp around. While she’s made huge strides in her foster home, Panda is still a bit skittish and takes her time warming up to new people. It took about six months for her to fully trust her foster family, but now she rewards them with cuddles, belly rub requests and lap dog snuggles. Once she bonds with you, she’s incredibly sweet and loyal.Panda is a vocal girl who loves to run, jump, and explore the backyard. She enjoys walks and adores car rides, though she’s not a fan of getting in the car (a little coaxing helps!). She’s also a bit of an escape artist and will bolt out the front door if given the chance, so a secure, fenced-in yard and a single-family home would allow her to be her best self. She’s protective of her yard and sometimes needs a little encouragement to come back inside.Loud noises can startle her, so a calm, patient home where she can continue to build confidence would be ideal. We`d also recommend older children for Panda since she can be startled easily. Panda listens well, loves being outside, and is happiest when she’s running free or soaking up affection from her trusted humans.A meet and greet with all residents (furry and human) will be required to ensure that Panda feels safe and comfortable in her forever home. Panda is a very sweet girl that is just looking for her future family that will be patient with her. If you are interested in Panda, you can fill out an application to meet her on our website.

Story
Meet Gretel (aka Liza Jean) This adorable little masked bandit will steal your heart and your blanket- and no she is NOT wearing a mask! That is her gorgeous coloring!! She's so full of love and energy in an adorable little package. Her foster mom says, "She's been an amazing playmate for our dog! She will play hard and love hard. She just seems to know when I need extra love- I have had some medical issues lately so TONS of cuddles from this wonderful pup. It's not a typical kind of cuddle, she has her OWN love language. The little darling will snuggle her head on me with her butt in the air- the whole cuddle session. When she's satisfied she's given enough love, she'll flop down asking for her OWN belly rubs. This kiddo can't get enough of em. She's gotten along with my dogs and with supervision she's learning to be ok with my cats. We're still working on the cats part. She just so so so wants to have her own family who will play with her, let her cuddle them and then give her the celebratory belly rubs. Not TOO much to ask for this very smart and very happy girl!" Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
I'm Gabe. I'm a good boi looking for a home where I will be loved. I'm likely part Australian Cattle Dog and that means I want to be attached to my person or people and spend a lot of time with them. Do you have such a place as I'm dreaming about? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2603748##

Story
We are a litter of 8, and our rescue story had lots of surprises! What started as a call to save 4 puppies quickly turned into a full-on puppy treasure hunt. Surprise! There were even more of us hiding under a storage container… and our sweet mama too! With some yummy food and gentle coaxing, we were all scooped up and brought to safety together. Now we’re warm, cozy, and living the good life with soft blankets—and we’re ready to find our forever families! We are happy, silly puppies who love zoomies, climbing on everything, chewing all the toys, and wrestling like tiny champions. When we finally wear ourselves out, we turn into snuggle pros and happily crawl into a lap for a nap. If you’re looking for nonstop fun, endless puppy kisses, and the best snuggle buddy around, we might just be your perfect match! Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Rusty, Sweet neutered male, is a bit shy at first but warms up to people quickly. Rusty plays well with other dogs and is curious about cats. He lives in a home with five cats, 2 dogs and a 7 year old. He loves playing fetch with the ball and is working on bringing it back and dropping the ball. Rusty does well in his kennel at night, and when no one is home. He uses a dog door and is house trained. Rusty likes to go on walks however it is best to go early in the morning or late in the day when there is not a lot of traffic or people. He gets scared by the cars. And since we have no idea what kind f life he had before he was saved by the rescue, it is just something he needs practice and confidence building ;) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
