Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Sweet Luna came to our rescue with puppies. She was an incredible momma. All of her pups have since been adopted but she is still patiently waiting on someone to call her their girl. She loves walks and just discovered how much she loves the sand volleyball court! This sweet girl came to DASH fearful and shy with little confidence. She has made great strides in the DASH Prison Training Program. Her handler says " Luna is better than a good pet, she's a good friend and a great roommate". When you wake up, she's looking at you like "What are we going to do today?", but she is not afraid to be alone either. She will do best with a person who responds in a calm, relaxed approach. She is highly intelligent, affectionate and loyal and attaches quickly to one person. She loves everyone though. She's a great dog who just needs a chance with a family that has time for her. She will need time to decompress, with love and patience to show her she is safe and part of the family. Luna is not cat-friendly but is sociable with other dogs, just not puppies. She has not been "kid tested" so proper meet & greets are always in order. We are excited and anticipate Luna finding her perfect home. Rescue Luna and she'll rescue you. Story
DobbieMaleAge: 2.5 YearsWeight: 55 lbsBreed: Australian Cattle Dog, Australian Shepherd MixGood With: Dogs, Cats, Kids Hi, I’m Dobbie! I am an energetic, cuddly and curious boy, who gets along great with other dogs and cats! I also love kids, but I am quite excitable so would do best in a home without young kids.  I am house trained and crate trained – although I do well when left out of my crate too! I love learning new things, have completed several training programs, and have mastered all the basics like walking on a leash, basic commands (sit, stay, down, come, wait, okay, no) and can even “place” on command.  I would love an adopter who can continue learning and growing with me and challenging me to be my best self. Being a young Cattle Dog mix, I will need an active adopter who is ideally experienced with herding or working breeds. I would also love a fenced in back yard for games of fetch although this is not required. In my free time I love to PLAY, be outdoors, cuddle, and be as close to my humans and fur siblings as physically possible. I also REALLY love to give kisses and I’ve never tasted a treat I don’t like! I can’t wait to have an adopter all my own who will provide me all the love and the active lifestyle I deserve! If you are interested in meeting Dobbie, apply to adopt at: www.causeforcanines.org Adoption fee: $350. Must be an Ohio resident and 23 or older. Children must be 10 years old or older. ##1385204##

Story
Oakley, a sweet, energetic, and loving 16-month-old Blue Heeler in need of a new home. Unfortunately, his owner has passed away and we are no longer able to care for Oakley, but we are hoping to find a loving family who can give him the attention and care he deserves. About: Oakley is an affectionate and intelligent dog who loves being part of the family. He is full of energy and loves playing, hiking, running, catching his toys and chasing his herding ball. He does not do well with tiny humans or other dominant dogs. Oakley does great with cats. Training: Oakley is house and crate trained and knows basic commands, though he could benefit from further training as he is still in his young, learning stage. Needs: Oakley thrives in an active environment where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He would do well in a home with a yard or active owners who can keep up with his energy levels and engage with him.

Story
Huck has been a part of our family since he was born June 27, 2021, and has recently become fed up with our old, grouchy male blue heeler. Huck has instigated some fights because of being around him. So, I am hoping for a home with no other dogs or kids. Preferably someone with experience with Australian Cattle Dogs. I dont know how he is with cats, because we have never been around him. He is neutered and up to date on rabies and other vaccines/heartworm. He is physically very healthy.

Story
We really outdid ourselves with originality in naming Cattle Dog, or “Cattle D” for not much shorter. Cattle Dog has all the energy and big personality you would expect from a Cattle Dog—he will patrol your yard to protect it from both squirrels and ghosts, but when not under attack from these nefarious villains, he loves to play with his friends and loves giving kisses and hugs and getting attention from his people. He’s a fantastic dog and just the best boy. A physically fenced yard is required. Cattle Dog is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio.
