Story
Hi, I am Shinzo: an 8 yr old, 50 lb male McNab mix. The first word that comes to mind when you see me is “REGAL”, being poised in my stature, walk and behavior, but you might catch me playfully hopping with my dog buddies When we first meet I need a moment to stand back to check you out just to determine if you’re friend or foe, but don’t worry…I’m a love bug after I’ve made my decision and see that you are worthy. I get along great with the dogs in my foster house, and I am great with kids. (Sorry, I don’t like cats though.) I prefer not to bark (even when others are) as I am too well-mannered, but I have a wonderful deep bark if needed. I already know how to use a doggy door and am completely trained to do my business outside. Unlike some of my herding friends, I’m not hyperactive. I do need room and time to exercise (wait till you see how good I am on a leash!) but I also enjoy a nice nap at your side. I might nudge you with my nose if I feel you’re ignoring me, but you’ll think it’s super cute. Don’t fret, this regal boy doesn’t require a throne...just a home and family where I can show you what a perfect dog I am to love and to love you.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Beans is a happy and sweet guy who looking for an active adventurous life! This mature boy, likely a pointer mix, is ready to run and play with human and doggy friends alike. Once he has a chance to get out his wiggles, Beans does well inside the house and will settle down in his crate. He's quiet and confident, and knows what he wants out of life- a comfy bed, all the love from his family and an endless supply of toys to chew. He gets along really well with other dogs but cats are a bit too exciting for him. He lives in a foster home with kids, a one year old and a five year old and he does great with them, especially when they throw a ball or chase him around to get everyone's wiggles out! If Beans sound like the guy for you, please fill out an application for us at http://caws.org/adoption-application! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
I'm a 37 lb. Australian cattle dog border collie mix. When my foster mom calls me or “cha cha cha chyna” I come running! I’ve also learned to come to a whistle. I love to hike and explore new places! Running full speed and playing with my male dog buddy is super fun. I don’t much care for the female dog living in my home, but it could just be that she has never liked me. I found out that if I'm brought outside right after eating, that I will do my business and I can come back in to get a treat. I also am learning some other cool tricks to show how smart I am, like I lift my paw when my mom says, “give me four” , she holds my paw, then i get a treat! Or if she asks me to get the laundry, I bring it downstairs to the washer piece by piece and get a tiny reward. It pays to be smart ;) I love to snuggle and give hugs, and sometimes just go to my cozy crate to chill. My crate is also my favorite place to eat and sleep.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
This big boned gal is as sweet as they come. Diamond is a 10 year old mixed breed and is the most mellow girl. She loves short walks and is happy to just lay in her dog bed and soak up the sun. She would be an excellent best friend for an elderly couple as she prefers a more relaxed environment. She walks very well on leash and doesn't pull at all. It takes her a couple of minutes to warm up to new people but one she does, she's your best buddy. Diamond is completely trustworthy to be left alone in the house. She's housebroken and knows how to use a doggy door, too. She is living in a foster home with 3 other dogs and a cat and she is great with all of them.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
The days are long, the nights are cold, and I do not recommend spending them alone! My name is Rosey, and I'm a sweet and slightly shy 7-month-old cattle dog mix who has the ability to make any day - or night - 100 percent more enjoyable with my delightful personality and generous snuggles. I am potty trained, crate trained, and pretty great on a leash! I love dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperament. In fact, I have yet to meet a pup that I cannot persuade to be my friend and even play with me. Actually, this probably goes for humans, too. I LOVE people - young and old - and while I can be shy at first, I'm snuggling in your arms or climbing on your lap in just a few minutes. I weigh about 35 pounds, and I have been in basic training classes, and I'm proving to be as intelligent as I am adorable. I love to go on walks and learn new things. I am too playful for most cats, although I get along fine with the dog-savvy cat living in my foster home. I love to chase and wrestle and if I can't find a playmate, I entertain myself with anything from a squeaky toy to an old stick. I have enough energy to keep you company on walks, hikes and other adventures, but I'm not hyper or overwhelming - at all. In fact, I have a very gentle demeanor and I think that's what allows me to get along with so many different types of dogs. I did sustain an eye injury when I was just a tiny pup. A horse kicked me, and I ended up losing my eye a couple of months ago. But, honestly, it doesn't seem to affect me at all. If you need a sweet, smart girl to brighten your days, let's see if I'm a fit for your family! If you would like to meet Rosey, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application! OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Loves people – when he sees them, his backend starts wiggling! He is playful and energetic; enjoys playing with toys; but can be a little mouthy with them at times. Walks well on the leash and knows the sit and shake commands. Treat motivated and is gentle when taking them from your hand. Would most likely chase a cat if the had the chance, but appears friendly toward the other dogs here at the shelter. Weighs 44 pounds; $50 to adopt.
