Story
Meet Mikey! This 7-year-old hound mix is a bright, affectionate boy with a heart full of love for his people. Mikey truly shines with those he knows—he’s loyal, cuddly, and happiest when he’s spending time with his family.Mikey is an intelligent pup who loves to show off his tricks—he knows shake, spin, and roll-over, and he’s always eager to learn something new. He’s both crate-trained and house-trained, and he settles nicely into a predictable routine at home. Whether he’s lounging in the sun, relaxing in the yard, or keeping you company around the house, Mikey has a gentle, easygoing side that makes him a wonderful companion. While he prefers a calm, familiar environment and appreciates having his own space, Mikey bonds deeply with his people and thrives when he feels secure. He’d do best as the only pet in the home and would love a yard to explore or a comfy spot to snooze while you’re nearby. Older kids who understand dog boundaries are a great match for him.Mikey’s ideal family is one that enjoys including their dog in daily life, appreciates his sweet personality, and values a loyal, loving companion. Once he trusts you, he’s all heart—and he’ll happily be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your biggest fan.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis; we strive to find the best match for each pet. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Mikey’s adoption fee is $0, generously sponsored by Bench Chiropractic. If you’re interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationDecember 4, 2025, 5:34 am

Story
Meet Lucy — your future snuggle soulmate!Lucy is a 3-year-old Catahoula/Cattle Dog mix with a gorgeous red merle coat and stunning dichromatic eyes. Kids always point out how unbelievably soft her fur is — “as soft as a horse’s nose!” — and they aren’t wrong.Lucy is an incredibly loving girl who adores every member of the family, including children. She’s fully potty trained, great on leash, and listens beautifully. Her favorite place in the world is curled up right next to her humans on the couch or in bed, soaking up all the affection she can get. She’s playful, enjoys toys, and is very food-motivated, which makes her fun to train and easy to bond with. Lucy has even completed dog training school, and her adopter will receive a complimentary session to help her settle into her new home.Lucy is dog-selective and will do best as the only dog in the home, though she coexists well with her foster family’s small dog.If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your home with warmth and love, Lucy might just be your perfect match. If you’d like to meet Lucy, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application! Story
Meet Shinzo 11 years old • 70 lbs • McNab Mix Shinzo is a distinguished gentleman with a regal presence and a heart full of love. At 11 years old, this 70-pound McNab mix has left behind the hyper energy of youth and now enjoys a calmer, more balanced lifestyle. He’s the perfect companion if you’re looking for a loyal dog who appreciates both leisurely walks and quiet naps by your side. While Shinzo may take a moment to observe new people before warming up, once he decides you’re a friend, he transforms into a total love bug. He gets along beautifully with the dogs in his foster home and is also wonderful with kids (though he’s not a fan of cats). Unlike many herding breeds, Shinzo is refreshingly mellow—he rarely barks, and when he does, it’s with a deep, dignified voice. This boy has excellent house manners: he’s fully house-trained, uses a doggy door like a pro, and knows how to settle calmly indoors. He’s a polite walker on leash and doesn’t demand constant activity—just enough exercise to stretch his legs and then he’s perfectly content to curl up next to you. Shinzo may nudge you with his nose if he feels ignored, but trust us, it’s impossible not to find it endearing.Shinzo doesn’t need a throne—just a loving home and a family who will cherish him for the sweet, gentle soul he is. If Shinzo sounds like your perfect match, fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-applicationPlease note: CAWS carefully matches each animal with the right home, and applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Shinzo’s adoption fee is $100, and like all CAWS pets, he is fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Story
Frankie is a 2 year old dog, and is a shepherd and cattle dog mix of some sort. Frankie came to us as a medical rescue off a reservation, with horrible lacerations on one leg. He has now healed up beautifully and is hoping to find his forever home! Although he started out as a feral dog, he is now socialized and doing extremely well! He loves to go on walks, car rides, and has even been paddle boarding a few times! When trying new things he can be nervous, but he is extremely brave and eager for new experiences. Frankie is one of the sweetest dogs, and loves to cuddle and follow his people around his house. He loves to play with toys, chew on bones, and lounge in a soft doggy bed or on the couch. He does happy dances at meal times, and loves butt scratches. He is house and crate trained. Frankie would do best with another dog in the home that he can play with that will help him gain confidence in his new home.Frankie's adoption fee is $200 and he is fully vetted- fixed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and health checked.
