Story
Hi, I am Shinzo: an 9.5 yr old, 70 lb male McNab mix. The first word that comes to mind when you see me is regal, being poised in my stature, walk and behavior, but you might catch me playfully hopping with my dog buddies. When we first meet I need a moment to stand back to check you out just to determine if you're friend or foe, but don't worry...I'm a love bug after I've made my decision and see that you are worthy. I get along great with the dogs in my foster house, and I am great with kids. (Sorry, I don't like cats though.) I prefer not to bark (even when others are) as I am too well-mannered, but I have a wonderful deep bark if needed. I already know how to use a doggy door and am completely trained to do my business outside. Unlike some of my herding friends, I'm not hyperactive. I do need room and time to exercise (wait till you see how good I am on a leash!) but I also enjoy a nice nap at your side. I might nudge you with my nose if I feel you're ignoring me, but you'll think it's super cute. Don't fret, this regal boy doesn't require a throne...just a home and family where I can show you what a perfect dog I am to love and to love you.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100. Story
With floppy ears, Luke, age 3, is an adult cattle dog mix with perpetual puppy cuteness and sweetness. Weighing in at 35 pounds, he likes to spend his days cuddled up in a comfy spot staring out the window and is always up for an outdoor adventure. Truly the best of both worlds! Luke has impeccable indoor manners (crate and house trained) and would spend all day curled up by your side if able (it cannot be stressed enough how much he adores people). He is a very smart and treat motivated pup. Luke is working on his leash skills and not getting overly excited around other dogs and with a proper and slow introduction he does well, but truly thrives in home as the only dog. He would love for his forever family to continue his training to support him in being the best pup he can be. Could that be you? Dogs are not placed on a first- come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Chestnut is a 9-year-old, white, black and brown 29.6 pound eloquent and majestic Queensland Heeler. She is totally house and crate trained, gets along with all the other dogs in her foster home, male and female, big and small. She's not a big barker but when out in the back yard will do an occasional bark with other dogs or people to let them know she is there. Chestnut came to be a CAWS dog because she was found as a stray, no collar, tag or chip. She now has a CAWS chip and will forever be safe and secure. We did blood work and it is perfect, whew. Miss Chestnut will chew on your snow boots or shoes if you leave them lying around, so be sure to put them where they belong and give her toys and chewies of her own to chew on. She will also chew through a leash so need to be sure she is not left unattended. Chestnut knows sit and shake. She takes treats very gently. She likes to ruff up the bed into the middle of the room. She is offered to get up on the couch but she does not want to, prefers the floor or her trampoline bed. Chestnut is a perfect assistant during the work week for her foster mom while she works. She rides wonderfully in the car. Chestnut is her foster mom's shadow in the house. This magnificent lady just needs to find the home she can call her own, which she is so deserving of. Chestnut would probably be okay without another dog but she tends to try to play so preferably a home with another dog. If you are looking for a glorious gal to be an unconditional friend, please make arrangements for a meet and greet. To meet Chestnut, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
Frankie is a 10 month old dog, and is a shepherd and cattle dog mix of some sort. Frankie came to us as a medical rescue off a reservation, with horrible lacerations on one leg. He has now healed up beautifully and is hoping to find his forever home! Since he was a feral dog, he is very timid and lots of things scare him easily. While he is comfortable and does extremely well in his foster home, he will need a family that can be patient helping him learn basic commands, how to walk on a leash, and how to ride in a car. Frankie is one of the sweetest dogs, and loves to cuddle and follow his people around his house. He loves to play with toys, chew on bones, and lounge in a soft doggy bed or on the couch. He does happy dances at meal times, and loves butt scratches. He is house and crate trained. Frankie will ABSOLUTELY need to have a fenced in yard and another dog in the home that he can play with that will help him gain confidence in his new home. Frankie's adoption fee is $200 and he is fully vetted- fixed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and health checked. To be considered, please apply online at caws.org. Thanks! Story
Hi there! My name is Vinny. I made my way to Utah from the streets of Clovis, New Mexico with my brother Pete! I absolutely love Utah! I like the snow and the rain and the wind and the sun! It is all so much fun for me!!! Right now, I am living with my foster family. This includes my foster mom and dad, their daughter, 5 other dogs who I LOVE to play with, two cats that I wish would play with me, but they don't seem to like me much, and my brother Pete! We have a doggy door which I learned to use my first day, so my mom said I am very smart. I'm completely housebroken and I know that I should only go potty outside. I love to play and play and then play some more, and then play a little more and then nap! My favorite things to do are to wrestle with my other dog friends, play fetch/ keep away with a tennis ball, and run around the backyard. I am looking for my forever home. I would love a family who will play with me lots and take me on a bunch of adventures!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Vinny's adoption fee is $300 and includes his first year's vaccines, deworming, health check, microchip, and neuter. Story
Who's looking for a sweet and lovable pup? Meet Timber, a 32lb, 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix. He's had a rough start to life by spending his whole life in the shelter until my fosters broke me out. This resilient pup doesn't show the stress of being locked up though. Timber loves toys and a good game of tug and absolutely loves balls. He needs someone that will throw the ball for him. He gets along with dogs, cats and our foster family has chickens but isn't too interested in them. He loves meeting new pups at the park. He could be good on his own or could have fur siblings. He's house trained, uses the dog door and walks well on a leash. He's learning commands and will need more help with training. He loves surfing...counters that is and will need a little help working on not surfing so much. But I thinks it's because he's so skinny and needs someone to help put meat on his bones. He's not picky about food and loves treats.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process.
