Meet Lucy – Your Loyal, Loving Adventure Buddy!Lucy is a smart, affectionate, and outgoing Catahoula mix with a gorgeous coat, stunning eyes, and a heart full of love for her people. At 2.5 years old and about 60 lbs, she’s the perfect blend of playful energy and mellow companionship—always ready for a walk, a game of fetch, or a good cuddle on the couch. She’s crate-trained, house-trained, rides well in the car, and walks nicely on leash. Lucy is well-mannered in the home, doesn’t jump, and is great at entertaining herself with her favorite toys—especially plush ones she can de-stuff! Lucy loves attention and thrives when she’s the center of a human’s world. While she enjoys playtime in the yard, her ideal home would be one without other dogs. She’s shown ongoing reactivity toward other dogs, especially inside the home, and while she’s improved on walks, she’s not a candidate for dog parks or multi-dog households. She is good with cats and children, and responds well to structure, guidance, and routine. She would do best in a moderately active home with adults or older teens and no other animals.Lucy is a fast learner who’s eager to please and incredibly affectionate once she bonds with you. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be by your side, share your routine, and bring a little extra joy to your day. If you’d like to meet Lucy, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Meet Shinzo 11 years old • 70 lbs • McNab Mix Shinzo is a distinguished gentleman with a regal presence and a heart full of love. At 11 years old, this 70-pound McNab mix has left behind the hyper energy of youth and now enjoys a calmer, more balanced lifestyle. He’s the perfect companion if you’re looking for a loyal dog who appreciates both leisurely walks and quiet naps by your side. While Shinzo may take a moment to observe new people before warming up, once he decides you’re a friend, he transforms into a total love bug. He gets along beautifully with the dogs in his foster home and is also wonderful with kids (though he’s not a fan of cats). Unlike many herding breeds, Shinzo is refreshingly mellow—he rarely barks, and when he does, it’s with a deep, dignified voice. This boy has excellent house manners: he’s fully house-trained, uses a doggy door like a pro, and knows how to settle calmly indoors. He’s a polite walker on leash and doesn’t demand constant activity—just enough exercise to stretch his legs and then he’s perfectly content to curl up next to you. Shinzo may nudge you with his nose if he feels ignored, but trust us, it’s impossible not to find it endearing.Shinzo doesn’t need a throne—just a loving home and a family who will cherish him for the sweet, gentle soul he is. If Shinzo sounds like your perfect match, fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-applicationPlease note: CAWS carefully matches each animal with the right home, and applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Shinzo’s adoption fee is $100, and like all CAWS pets, he is fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Story
Frankie is a 2 year old dog, and is a shepherd and cattle dog mix of some sort. Frankie came to us as a medical rescue off a reservation, with horrible lacerations on one leg. He has now healed up beautifully and is hoping to find his forever home! Although he started out as a feral dog, he is now socialized and doing extremely well! He loves to go on walks, car rides, and has even been paddle boarding a few times! When trying new things he can be nervous, but he is extremely brave and eager for new experiences. Frankie is one of the sweetest dogs, and loves to cuddle and follow his people around his house. He loves to play with toys, chew on bones, and lounge in a soft doggy bed or on the couch. He does happy dances at meal times, and loves butt scratches. He is house and crate trained. Frankie would do best with another dog in the home that he can play with that will help him gain confidence in his new home.Frankie's adoption fee is $200 and he is fully vetted- fixed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and health checked. To be considered, please apply online at caws.org. Thanks! Story
Adopt River! This 6ish-year-old guy wants nothing more than to be snuggled by his people and give hugs. He has the best smile and is an absolutely delightful companion and the best work-from-home buddy. River will snooze at your feet during meetings, waking up occasionally to place his paw on your leg to check in. River would love a big backyard to run around in and then relax in the sun - he'll spend hours out there enjoying the fresh air, if you'll let him! River loves to chew on bones and squeaky toys and watch the world outside the front window. He enjoys the companionship of other dogs, but is not super playful with them. (Though he does enjoy a good game of a chase in the yard!) River also isn't a big fan of new people inside his home. So if you're a bit of an introvert, too, and prefer to do your socializing outside the house, then River is the pup for you! And the good news is that he's perfectly happy to hang out quietly in his crate on the occasions you do have company. This guy very quickly won the hearts of his foster family, and he will win your heart, too. To meet River, please fill out an online application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Story
Mocha is a 2 year old retired mama who had a litter of puppies and was found in Stanislaus County, CA tied to a bench with her baby girl, Roxy. Roxy was adopted but Mocha is still looking for her forever family. Mocha is 40lbs, amazing with children, people and most dogs but does have some resource guarding tendencies with other pups. Her ideal home would be with no other pups or a well mannered pup, and with a family to love her and dote on her. Mocha has high drive and loves playing fetch and learning new tricks. One of her favorite activities is going for car rides! She is the perfect errand buddy. Mocha needs a family to love her and take her on adventures, she deserves it after the hard life she's been through!
