Story
Hi, I am Shinzo: an 8 yr old, 50 lb male McNab mix. The first word that comes to mind when you see me is “REGAL”, being poised in my stature, walk and behavior, but you might catch me playfully hopping with my dog buddies When we first meet I need a moment to stand back to check you out just to determine if you’re friend or foe, but don’t worry…I’m a love bug after I’ve made my decision and see that you are worthy. I get along great with the dogs in my foster house, and I am great with kids. (Sorry, I don’t like cats though.) I prefer not to bark (even when others are) as I am too well-mannered, but I have a wonderful deep bark if needed. I already know how to use a doggy door and am completely trained to do my business outside. Unlike some of my herding friends, I’m not hyperactive. I do need room and time to exercise (wait till you see how good I am on a leash!) but I also enjoy a nice nap at your side. I might nudge you with my nose if I feel you’re ignoring me, but you’ll think it’s super cute. Don’t fret, this regal boy doesn’t require a throne...just a home and family where I can show you what a perfect dog I am to love and to love you.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Beans is a happy and sweet guy who looking for an active adventurous life! This mature boy, likely a pointer mix, is ready to run and play with human and doggy friends alike. Once he has a chance to get out his wiggles, Beans does well inside the house and will settle down in his crate. He's quiet and confident, and knows what he wants out of life- a comfy bed, all the love from his family and an endless supply of toys to chew. He gets along really well with other dogs but cats are a bit too exciting for him. He lives in a foster home with kids, a one year old and a five year old and he does great with them, especially when they throw a ball or chase him around to get everyone's wiggles out! Story
I'm a 37 lb. Australian cattle dog border collie mix. When my foster mom calls me or “cha cha cha chyna” I come running! I’ve also learned to come to a whistle. I love to hike and explore new places! Running full speed and playing with my male dog buddy is super fun. I don’t much care for the female dog living in my home, but it could just be that she has never liked me. I found out that if I'm brought outside right after eating, that I will do my business and I can come back in to get a treat. I also am learning some other cool tricks to show how smart I am, like I lift my paw when my mom says, “give me four” , she holds my paw, then i get a treat! Or if she asks me to get the laundry, I bring it downstairs to the washer piece by piece and get a tiny reward. It pays to be smart ;) I love to snuggle and give hugs, and sometimes just go to my cozy crate to chill. My crate is also my favorite place to eat and sleep.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
This big boned gal is as sweet as they come. Diamond is a 10 year old mixed breed and is the most mellow girl. She loves short walks and is happy to just lay in her dog bed and soak up the sun. She would be an excellent best friend for an elderly couple as she prefers a more relaxed environment. She walks very well on leash and doesn't pull at all. It takes her a couple of minutes to warm up to new people but one she does, she's your best buddy. Diamond is completely trustworthy to be left alone in the house. She's housebroken and knows how to use a doggy door, too. She is living in a foster home with 3 other dogs and a cat and she is great with all of them.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
Hello friends! My name is Rosey, and I'm a delightful young cattle dog mix looking for an active loving family to call my own. I am about six months old, and I come from the Uintah Basin where I was living in a rural community with my siblings - some of whom ended up with CAWS, too! Those who cared for me and my littermates say I'm a heeler/border collie/catahoula mix, and I weigh about 32 pounds at the moment. I can be shy at first, but I am incredibly sweet, and I LOVE snuggles and pets, so I'm quick to get over any hesitancy. I did sustain an eye injury when I was just a tiny pup. A horse kicked me, and I ended up losing my eye recently. Other than that, I am a normal, happy pup who loves squeaky toys, snuggling humans, chasing squirrels and wrestling dogs of all sizes. Since coming to the suburbs, I've learned quite a lot! I'm crate trained, house trained and learning the art of walking on a leash. Currently, I sometimes forget about the leash and hop and frolic in the most adorable way as I walk with my foster brother. I love to play with other dogs, but I'm a bit too much for cats. I enjoy older kids who understand that being a shy girl means I need to come to you for love. I'm very smart, and now that I have recovered from surgeries, I'm starting basic training, and I'm learning to play fetch. If you need a sweet, smart girl to brighten your days, let's see if I'm a fit for your family! If you’d like to meet Rosey, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application!
