Story
Fani is a petite little girl who walks nicely on a leash, is house broken, athletic, and most importantly, is friendly and affectionate. She is a year old, born August, 2022. She grew up as a country dog on the prairie and coming to the city with all the trucks and noise was quite the surprise, but since there are squirrels and rabbits galore here, she couldn’t be happier. Fani and her 4 puppies were surrendered to PUP as the family had too many dogs and wanted them all to get good homes of their own. Mommy weighs 31# and looks like a Kelpie mix. Typically dogs from this area have a dozen or more breeds, often Shepherds, lab, husky or Chihuahua. Mommy is still with the pups and is looking after them, but has stopped nursing. Mommy is ready to go to her forever home after her spay on September 18. Fani lived in an area with many loose dogs, not all of them very nice. She is wary meeting new dogs and while we expect she would do fine in a multi-dog household, she would also be fine being an only dog. She is living with other puppies and dogs and gets along just fine. She is very tuned in to her human and would be unhappy in a home with a lot of angry yelling or with people who didn’t treat her with kindness. (Actually, that is probably true with most of us!) We think she will do well with older children but she is not living with children now and her previous family was all adults. She is careful meeting new humans but bonds quickly after a brief time of getting to know you. Fani has been vet checked, wormed and had two routine vaccinations and rabies. The adoption fee is $375(check or cash). We do place dogs outside the metro area We do not ship. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a dog, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a dog. Please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption.

Story
Latitia, her mom (pictured) and siblings were surrendered to PUP as the family had too many dogs and wanted them all to get good homes of their own. Puppies were born 6-14-2023 and they have been well socialized and well cared for. They arrived pleasingly plump and had clearly been well loved. Mommy (pictured) weighs 31# and looks like a Kelpie mix. We suspect the puppies, who all now weigh about 7.5#, will be a bit bigger than she as adults, probably more like 40-45#, but that is seriously best guess. Mommy is still with the pups and is looking after them, but has stopped nursing so they are completely eating on their own. Latitia is making very good progress on house breaking but she is not quite there yet. She is crated during the night and during the work day and she keeps it clean and dry. Latitia has a short black/tan and white coat and wonderfully pricked ears. We think Latitia is part Kelpie but what she is mixed with is anybody’s guess. Most of the dogs from the area have at least a bit of herding dog in their family tree and DNA testing shows 20 or more breeds, often including shepherd, lab, Chihuahua or husky. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Latitia has been vet checked, wormed and had three routine vaccinations. She will need rabies at the owner’s expense. The $375 adoption fee (check or cash) includes the cost of pup’s required spay/neuter at 6 months of age provided it is done by one of the PUP vets. We do place puppies outside the metro area but a plan for the required spay/neuter must be in place. We do not ship. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. Story
Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they are adopted. All our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Well Howdy! I’m Houston! Just a sweet, southern mush if you ask anyone. I give out hugs and dog hair to anyone that will have it. I love a good game of fetch, playing in the water and enjoy all the pets’ belly rubs etc. I’m a smart chap too, I’m kennel trained, I walk politely on a leash, I know how to sit and lay down. I’m housebroken and I’m working on my recall skills. I’ve got a big heart, I’d give it to you if you’d let me! My dream home is one where I can play with my hoomans and cuddle at night watching movies, relaxing. I’ve got medium energy, I’m not to much but I’m not boring neither. I get along with dogs and cats, I’ve got my good pals here at the rescue. I’ll be waiting for somebody to scoop me up one of these days! Houston is about 2 years old and is around 43lbs. We believe he is a Australian Kelpie Mix (our best guess). He is neutered, update to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is currently on heartworm and flea preventative.

These pups are in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota too!

Story
Skyler is a handsome 1 yr old Australian Shepherd. He weighs 56# - with beautiful coloring and soft brown eyes. He’s friendly, and has youthful energy. He wags his tail a lot, and gives sloppy slobbery kisses! He’s also very affectionate – will sit next to you forever if you will scratch his ears. I don’t think he’d ever get tired of it. Enjoys tummy rubs, too. Excellent snuggler. He’s very playful, happy and fun loving. He chases balls and retrieves them. He actually brings it right back to you and will even put it in your hand. Skyler is young, energetic, and has herding-dog instincts; with adults, he will sometimes nip at their hands when playing. This is not an aggressive gesture - it's his instinct to herd coming out in play. He has not done this with children. Very playful and needs a yard to run in – preference will be given to someone with a secure fenced area (He does not try to jump the fence). He really loves to fetch the tennis ball for you.........but if you don’t play with him, he entertains himself with the ball. He would really enjoy being paired with another playful dog. Skyler is highly motivated by treats - constantly sits for treats without even being prompted. He would do well with an active family. Learning to walk on leash – does best in harness -needs reminders not to pull when he sees squirrels and other dogs. Going to dog parks or the lake are exciting times for him, and he has a difficult time listening to you in these situations. Knows the commands to sit and stay, and appears to be a smart dog. Skyler is housetrained. He’s so well behaved that he has not been crated. Is good with other dogs, and reported to be good with cats (but we haven't tested this). Has been with older kids and did well, but no exposure to youngsters – he has a good disposition, and is gentle and loving, so might be OK with respectful kids 6 yr and up. He enjoys being with people as much as possible. Skyler is neutered, and current on distemper, rabies and bordetella vaccinations. His heartworm test is negative, and the microchip is registered to Second Chance. His adoption fee is $375. Call 651-771-5662 if you are interested in Skyler.
