Story
This handsome boy is a total gem. Zeus is easy to leash up, walks well without pulling, and has just the right balance of playfulness and calm. He’s got a thing for zoomies in the yard, but also loves to chill when it’s time to relax. Treats? He takes them gently from your hand, and he knows how to sit on command (he definitely knows what to do, he just doesn’t always to it 100% of the time – he just needs a little more practice to perfect it). Sometimes he’ll even give you a little hug with his front paws when he gets excited – it’s his way of saying, “I’m happy to see you!” Zeus is the perfect companion with a medium energy level. He loves pets and will happily stand by your side to soak up the love, but he’s also independent enough to keep himself entertained when needed. We’re not sure what like was like for him before, but it must have bene pretty tough judging by the way he’s missing the top of one of his ears. Despite whatever he’s been through Zeus hasn’t lost his good attitude and sunny outlook on life.

Story
Are you looking for a loyal companion to join you on your daily adventures? Look no further than Freddy! This handsome pup is not just well-behaved but also a joy to be around. With a friendly disposition and a love for the outdoors, Freddy is the perfect partner for morning runs, easily keeping pace with you for those invigorating jogs. Why Freddy is Special: Great on a Leash: Freddy walks beautifully by your side, making every stroll enjoyable. Friendly with Dogs: He interacts positively with other dogs at the park, so you can expect lots of playdates! Loves Adults: Freddy thrives in the company of adults and is the perfect companion for outdoor activities. While Freddy is a fantastic pet, it's important to note that he's best suited for an adult-only household. His energy and exuberance can sometimes be overwhelming for younger kids, which is why we believe he would thrive in a mature environment where he can truly shine.

Story
Meet Corina! Corina is a sweet and playful pup looking for her forever home! We estimate her to be around a year old. She was found as a severely emaciated stray and has come a long way! She`s a mixed breed and is currently about 30 lbs. She`s a bit shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly once she gets to know you. While she’s still working on her potty training (a few tinkle accidents here and there), she’s doing great with crate training – she sleeps and eats comfortably in her crate.Corina is friendly with other dogs, especially when introduced properly, and has a mid-high energy level. She`s got no issues with guarding, leash reactivity, or aggression, and she’s not fearful. Though she may take a little time to adjust in new environments, she’s a loving and cuddly companion once she feels at ease.If you`re looking for a playful, snuggly pup who will be a loyal and loving addition to your home, Corina might just be the one! Interested in adopting Corina? Submit an application here: www.this-is-houston.org/adopt/adopt-application**Currently in Houston, TX but is able to transport out-of-state**

Story
We named this guy Bandit because he’s EXTREMELY likely to steal your heart. He’s affectionate, but not needy, and has a tragic backstory to boot. What’s not to love! Bandit came to us on 1/23/25, injured and caked with dried mud. He had lots of puncture wounds all over, but mostly on his legs. His rear legs were the most seriously injured. It seemed like he’d been attacked by another animal. X-Rays showed he had old fractures of his right tibia and fibula. Our on staff medical team initially though he would require an amputation, but thankfully with time and a little extra TLC he healed to the point where it was no longer necessary. He is able to walk and run easily, though he does occasionally throw in a bit of a limp to remind you of how far he’s come. Now that he doesn’t have any injuries to distract you, you can focus on how sweet and what a gentleman he is. He’s a very good boy with great leash manners. He’s a calm guy with a versatile energy level. When it’s playtime he’s got lots of energy, but when it’s time to relax he’s perfectly content to chill out and cuddle. He’s perfectly happy to entertain himself by exploring and sniffing around, but his favorite thing in the world is to be loved on. He’ll sit sweetly by your side for as long as you’ll pet him, and he’ll only interrupt you to give you some kisses as a thank you. He sits and shakes on command, and he always takes his treats so nicely from you. He’s also proven himself to already be potty trained! Kids and other dogs alike are a yes for him. He’s very friendly and has gotten along well with everyone he’s met so far – including younger, special needs children. So go ahead, let Bandit steal your heart! He’ll take great care of it and is looking forward to becoming your lifelong best friend.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there, I'm Grace. I've had a pretty rough start to life, so I'm on the search for my forever family.  Not too long ago, I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter where it was determined that I was pregnant. Within a few short weeks, I became the most amazing mom to 11 tiny beings.  My foster mom tells me how patient, attentive and nurturing I am and that now it's my turn to find my happily ever after. My adoption fee is $250 locally or $450 to transport which includes my spay, necessary vaccines and microchip. If I sound like your girl, please fill out an application. Story
Meet Dexter – your new best friend! He is a sweet, happy boy who’s ready to brighten your day! He’s friendly, loves attention, and will happily stay by your side for as long as you’re willing to pet him. This loveable guy enjoys getting all the back scratches and will sit on command (he lays on command too, but he can be a stubborn at time), taking treats gently from your hand. Belly rubs are his absolute favorite though! Though he’s got a bit of excitement in him (he’s known for his happy hops), his happy personality shines through, and he’s proven himself to be quite social. He certainly has lots to say and is known as quite vocal. Dexter has a high energy level, and can easily transition into a really playful mode. He`s still a puppy at heart. Dexter would love to find a home where he can shower his new family with love, affection, and his endless happy energy!
