Story
Jack will be placed in the Phoenix metro area, for proximity to our rescue (home checks, follow up visits, visit to finalize adoption) and for access to our veterinarian. Sorry, no exceptions. ** Adoption begins with a Foster-To-Adopt arrangement and, once Basic and Intermediate Obedience training are completed, adoption can be finalized. ** Jack has come a very long way! He loves life and has made so many new friends.   Jack *must have* at least one happy, friendly, same-size dog friend in his new family. Jack takes treats gently and loves to run and play hard!   Jack requires a large private, fenced yard to enjoy off-leash play. Apartment life is not appropriate for him as he likes to share his space with humans that he knows well.   If you believe you're a possible match for Jack, please complete our online adoption application!   We encourage you to register on our site and "Favorite" the dog(s) that interest you, so that you will be notified when bio, photos, or status are updated. "Companion animal" means, needs at least one other friendly, playful dog that lives full-time in the same household. "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence. (It does not mean a nearby fenced area/dog park.)  Gates must have padlocks and thresholds (cement or buried pavers to prevent digging.) Yard and patio must be free of debris and have room for dogs to run and play *on a lawn and/or in a very shaded area.* Please do not invite us to your home if you have not yet landscaped your yard! “Swimming pool” means a private, in-ground, year-round pool that is available to the dog daily or multiple times per week. We do not place dogs in situations where there are "drained" or empty swimming pools, which are a fall hazard and contribute to the propogation of mosquitos. Last and not least, we DO NOT adopt to students as we have found that they often do not know or anticipate where life will take them. Discussion about a dog - including scheduling of a home check or other dialogue - cannot occur until we have received your completed adoption application. NO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you!   April 27, 2024, 12:06 am

Story
YES we're still accepting applications for Lenny.  He is a sweet, playful guy that loves affection and pets.  Lenny is a fan favorite, bright and funny with a luscious coat and beautiful blue eyes.  He's eager to please and is a quick learner.  He does not need a companion dog but would not mind having someone his size to run around with.  This little boy is a gem!!!   Lenny will be placed in the Phoenix metro area, for proximity to our rescue (home checks, follow up visits, visit to finalize adoption) and for access to our veterinarian. Sorry, no exceptions. Our adoptions begin with a Foster-To-Adopt period, which is not feasible with remote placements.   If you believe you're a possible match for this dog - based on the detailed profile posted on our website - please complete our online adoption application!    We encourage you to register on our site and "Favorite" dog(s) that interest you, so that you will be notified when bio, photos, or status are updated. You can also opt to receive notifications for your favorite breed(s). "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence and owned by you or your landlord. Story
“Princess Grace” is an easy, happy, and very lovable dog. She LOVES walks and does beautifully on leash - even with lots of "dog traffic" she is a superstar! Grace gets very excited to go for a walk and enjoys every minute of it. So it is extra fun to watch her arrive back at home and do crazy zoomies in the backyard. She also enjoys car rides, and has a lot of fun playing hide and seek with her foster mom.   Grace's foster mom describes her as "a dream dog" -- she lounges happily while foster mom does desk work, and loves to accompany her for garden chores. Grace thrives on cuddles and attention. She is a beautiful, interesting companion and a bit of an "old soul" with a silly, joyful spirit. Grace is *exceptionally* well-behaved in the home. While trustworthy and independent, she also likes check in for pets and bellyrubs.   Grace currently weighs a fluffy 55 pounds, with a healthy goal weight of a bit less than 50 pounds.  We were told that Grace became possessive of food and toys in her prior home, and that young children made her anxious. She will SHINE as an only dog with access to a large, fenced backyard of her own. (Not a candidate for apartment living or a dog-parks lifestyle.) Grace maintains a cat- and bunny-free yard, but is not an obsessive barker - even with one living nearby… Princess Grace's new home will be in the Phoenix metro area, for proximity to our rescue (home checks, follow up visits, visit to finalize adoption) and access to our veterinarian. Sorry, no exceptions! Our adoptions begin with a Foster-To-Adopt period, which is not feasible with remote placements. If you believe you're a good match for her, please complete our adoption application ,  detailing your experience with training and socializing herding breeds.   • "Fenced yard" means, a backyard that is adjacent to and connected with your residence and owned by you or your landlord. Story
Hi this is Spencer. Spencer is living with my husband and I with his 3 dog siblings and currently happy although Spencer does not like children and we as a family are planning to begin the process of having a child whether that means it happens for us or we adopt. I want to begin looking for a perfect home that Spencer can continue to be happy and live his best life. Why no kids:He does not like children of any age Why no other dogs:Spencer is good at playing, initiating play & very respectful of his playmate. He is not good at sharing his human. Spencer wants all the love and attention and has in the past chomped his brother for being too close to his mom. Spencer will also get excited about a neighbor dog or a truck in the ally and bite whoever is next to him. He has broken skin depending on how worked up he gets. Cool things about Spencer He sleeps a lot! Loves the King Sized bed. He is muzzle trained, crate trained & does not mind either. He can be active or lazy & he talks a lot

Story
Ellie came to us for training due to her stranger danger/feral behavior. We have worked hard on her new greeting behaviors, outlet for her energy and training. She is an active dog with great potential and she will reward her owners with a very dedicated life of love and a dog that loves to be active! She would be best in a home with just her maybe another male dog around her age and a quiet home. (not a lot of parties, NO kids or grandkids, etc) I would love to see her in a home that likes to hike, play fetch, maybe do some competitive obedience. She likes people especially women once she gets to trust people. She does well with management/training and exposure to new things, she will need continuing education on training for impulse control and allowing the time she needs to meet new people. Once she has an understanding of what is expected of her when meeting new people she is great with them! Easy in the crate, and house setting and out in the back yard. She loves to curl up after a good play session and cuddle on the couch with her loved ones. See her profile here: https://azbcr.org/Adopt/AvailableBorderCollies/RescueDetails.aspx?rid=5258
