Story
Daisy came to us from the Yuma Humane Society and was recently returned through no fault of her own. Despite the changes she’s been through, she remains one truly awesome girl. She’s thriving in her foster home, where she’s done great with a smaller dog. Daisy is fully house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and enjoys twice-daily strolls with her foster mom. She’s currently on a diet and making progress toward a healthier weight—with plenty of encouragement and love along the way.At 10 years young and about 82 pounds, Daisy would love a forever home that can help her shed a few more pounds and enjoy her golden years in comfort. She’s a wonderful, gentle soul looking for a soft place to land. Could that be with youTo get started in the process of meeting Daisy, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come on in to the Adoption Center to meet with an adoption counselor. You are welcome to submit an inquiry for more information about this dog, but please note that we strongly encourage potential adopters to come and see us in person and speak with an adoption counselor. We do ask for 24 hours time to respond to an inquiry (48 hours on weekends) and often a dog is adopted before you get a response back. If this dog was not good with other dogs, cats or has a restriction with kids, we will note them in the bio. Because each animal is different, we do always require introductions with resident dogs, dogs that visit frequently, and all family members. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert. Hours: Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. You can also call during our open hours to inquire if an animal has been adopted yet (480-497-8296). Thank you!All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

Story
Maverick is 8 years old, we got him from a breeder and had him neutered at 6 months. He lives with a 6 year old 80lb Rottweiler and a 11 year old 15lb Shih Tzu as well as our 2.5 year old daughter. He is high energy, playful and knowns a variety of commands. He's very cuddly with adults and young adults but we have come to realize he is not good with kids as he is nervous and reactive around them. He most recently snapped and nipped at our daughter in warning for her getting too close to him on the couch. He has previously been possessive with his toys and treats/food around the other dogs at home. He has bitten both the Rottweiler and the Shih Tzu. He needs to be in a home where he is the only dog. Maverick would thrive with someone with an active lifestyle. He does great outside of the home and is less aggressive towards other dogs in an open setting.
