Story
Mia has been part of our family since she was a puppy. I adopted her in Oregon around 2021 while working from home, and she quickly became a loving and loyal companion to me and my children. Mia is affectionate, intelligent, and well-trained. She has received professional training and knows basic commands. Like many Australian Shepherds, she is very protective and alert. She can be vocal and does best with someone who understands the breed and can provide structure and consistency. Over the past year, my work schedule has changed, and I am now away from home for long hours while managing my children’s activities. Unfortunately, Mia is spending too much time alone, and I can no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. Another important factor is that I do not have a fenced yard, so Mia stays indoors most of the time. I would really love for her to have a home where she can safely go outside, run, and play. A fenced yard would be ideal for her.

Hi, I’m Shadow. I’m a 3½yearold, 33pound Australian Shepherd blend who likes to ease into new friendships. I’m a quiet, observant and happy fella when I can take my time deciding when to step forward. Once I feel safe, I greet my people with soft enthusiasm and a gentle tail wag that says I’m glad you’re here. Favorite Things: Shadow enjoys cozy blankets, calm spaces and the freedom to relax without pressure. He’s not much of a toy fan and prefers doing his own thing, but once he’s comfortable, he settles nearby with quiet contentment. Training and Manners: He is house trained with regular outdoor breaks. Shadow walks nicely on a leash, rides politely in the car and sleeps in his dog bed at night. He’s still learning some basic manners, but he responds well to patient guidance. When left alone, he’s trustworthy; he simply gathers a blanket or two to build the perfect nap spot. Health and Care: Shadow is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. He’ll need monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Regular brushing keeps his coat comfortable and helps him feel his best. Other Animals: He does well with dogs of all sizes and thrives in a home with more outgoing dogs that can help him with his confidence. His ideal home would have another dog to keep him company. He hasn’t met cats yet, but his calm nature suggests he may do fine with a slow introduction. Children: Shadow hasn’t lived with kids before. He should do well with older, dogsavvy children (10+) who understand his demeanor. Ideal Home: He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhome with regular outings. Shadow thrives in a quiet, predictable home with patient people who understand shy dogs. He doesn’t enjoy being approached directly, but when given space, he chooses connection on his own terms. Overall: Shadow is a gentle, introverted companion who blossoms slowly but deeply. He’s independent, lowkey and easy to live with, especially for someone who appreciates a calm, observant dog. Once he trusts you, he greets you with genuine warmth and settles into your life just as his name promises softly, steadily and always close by. Meet Cyrus! He is a 3 year old Australian shepherd or cattle dog mix. Poor Cyrus came into the shelter shaking from head to toe. He was absolutely petrified of all the dogs barking and everything in the shelter. Despite how scared he was, he rolled over and showed his stomach. He accepted pets and love, and just wanted to be comforted. We went straight to his aid and brought him home. While we are just getting to know him, so far he is a very loyal velcro dog that just wants to be with his people. He is really opening up, and just wants to be loved. He will paw you for more pets, and wags his tail like he is remembering how amazing it is to be out of the shelter. Cyrus is heartworm positive and has started treatment. We will pay for all his treatment, even if he is adopted. Heartworm treatment is very manageable and he does not show any symptoms, so he is ready to go home now.
