Story
Meet Gumbo!A handsome 61lb, 7-year-old Australian Shepherd who came to the shelter as an owner surrender and is now looking for a new place to call home. He’s not bouncing off the walls, but don’t be fooled—this goofy guy still knows how to play and make you laugh. He enjoys his relaxed days, yet always has time for a silly moment and a playful trot.At first, Gumbo can be a little timid, but give him a bit of time and patience and his friendly, sweet personality begins to shine. One of his happy places is being outside—especially when there’s snow to play in! Watching Gumbo explore and enjoy the outdoors is truly heartwarming.Gumbo walks well on leash, making him a pleasant walking companion, and he doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, suggesting he could do well with canine neighbors or a dog sibling after proper introductions. If you’re looking for a gentle, outdoor-loving companion who just needs a little time to warm up, Gumbo might be the perfect match for you.We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Michele (mballenger58@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Online Adoption Application › Please read all details in bio before applying for adoption!Link is our very special pup. He is a blind neuro boy and because of this it will take time and patience for him to adjust. He may act out in fear. He occasionaly has night terrors. He will need to get familiar with his new person's scent and voice to know they are near. We are looking for a special person, preferably who has experience with a blind pup and Is willing to discuss and work with him. Link is very fearful of other animals and would do best in a home with only adult humans and a fenced yard.  He will always be a pup. Link has an amazing personality and is very loving, especially to those who give him belly rubs and food (his two favorite things). He knows his crate is a safe place and gets very comfortable. He loves to run and play in the yard. He will be some work for the right individual who can help him blossom.  Link is medium in size, he has grown more than expected.CARE's adoption process is done by the applicant using their cell at the adoption meeting to access the Shelterluv platform to agree to the adoption contract and pay the $250 adoption fee by credit or debit card. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 2, 2025, 9:07 pm

Story
Name: Missy Breed: Aussie Mix Sex: Female Age: 1-2 yrs Spayed/Neutered: Will be neutered/spayed prior to adoption Vaccinations: Vaccines will be up to date - all vaccinations required after adoption are the responsibility of the adopter. Heartworm: Will be performed at spay Housetrained: Not yet Microchipped: Not yet Adoption Fee/Donation: $100 Important!! Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy's life. Do you have the time? Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter, heart worm test if applicable) microchip, worming and flea/tick/heart worm (if applicable) preventatives. Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.
