Story
Trooper is a sweet pup who is super smart and a quick learner. He has done great with dogs from smaller than him to much larger than him. Like most puppies, he is still learning. He walks very well on a leash and even has the "sit" command down! He is currently working on the commands "stay", "out" and "down". This boy likes to please and takes on to training very well. Trooper loves to cuddle and occassionally gets that puppy energy and wants to run and play. We think as he continues to get healthy his energy level will increase. Believing he may be an Australian Shepherd mix means he will need an owner who has time to dedicate to play, walks/runs and training. This breed is also known to herd anything... even children. Trooper is recommended for house households with children 12 years and older. He is also recommended for a home with no cats, chickens or rabbits. This guy may look like a bobble head, with his large eyes and big head compared to his body, but he was starving when he was originally found. So malnourished that he couldn't even stand. But that beginning is not stopping him from living his best life now! He goes into a crate at night (with treats) and is working at not barking during this process, but sometimes it is hard, and he may bark for 1 minute (tops). He is doing SO WELL. Once calmed he is fast asleep and an angel through the night. This guy is also so great that he is house trained! Regular routine walks will help continue this process he has made. He is a small guy, and though he may gain weight as he gets healthy, more than likely Trooper will not grow taller. This guy will make a wonderful addition to any home ready for a puppy and ready for lots of cuddles! Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications. We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match. ##1959333##

Jake has been a great pet. He gets along very well with other animals and children. I’ve had him since he was a pup. He is house broken and loves to give you his pawl. He needs no special attention but loves to run and play. Will need a good fenced yard. I truly hate to separate with Jake but we just sold our farm and moved into an apartment and the area does not like pets that we have moved into.
