Story
MEET MILLIE!STATS: 3 years old, spayed, Black Australian Shepherd MixAFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: My little nub tail wiggles at a million miles a minute! I have a good amount of energy, love playing with the other pups my size, and I will immediately roll over for belly rubs when I see a person! My energy level is the perfect balance of chill and independent with a little spunk for other dogs thrown in the mix. When it comes to spending time with my humans, I am super laid back and would be totally content sitting at your feet and getting scratches. I also like to smile with my front teeth when I am super happy (you’ll have to meet me to understand!)WHAT I LOVE: I LOVE belly rubs! If we make eye contact with you, it’s almost guaranteed that I will roll over and beckon you for tummy scratches. I also love to sploot my legs out behind me in the cool grass.KIDS: I don’t have any previous history with kids, but I recently did great at an event with children! As long as they are respectful of my space, I would be a very good girl!OTHER DOGS: I`m dog-friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs! I go to playgroup here at the shelter! I prefer dogs of my own size, though. I am a heeler, after all!CATS: UnknownHER MATCH: If you want to lay around and be lazy together, take the occasional long walk, play outside a little, and come back inside for more lazy cuddles, you just might be my type! I have done wonderfully at events in social situations – I pretty much just laid around and waited for people to come pet me. I am also known around the shelter for being a great walker because I just love spending time with the people here!SPECIAL NOTE: From my adorable nub tail to my toothy smile, I am absolutely precious!Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Story
Socks is 9 months old and weighs 40 pounds and we were told he is a Husky/Shepherd mix. He has a wonderful, gentle temperament even though he is a little shy on first meeting. He is great with other dogs and loves to play with them. We are working with him a a leash and he is picking it up pretty quickly and he will need house training in his new home. He is very smart and picks up new things pretty quickly. He can get over a chain link fence so he needs supervision in the yard or a privacy fence. As long as you are with him or he has other dogs to play with, we have no issues here. After time and training and learning his home, this will calm down. He likes water, toys and is good with car rides. He has also been around children with no issues. He should do well with most any active family. Socks is neutered, microchipped and current on shots and preventions. If you are interested in adopting, please submit our application at Richardsonrescue.org. All visits require an appointment and an approved application. Story
Sandi was given to us from a patient who could not care for her as a puppy at 10 weeks. She is 2 years old, house trained and very loving. She is a miniature shepherd husky. Would be great in open land environment, farm, good with kids! She is playful, energetic and loves cuddles! She is very attentive to your needs and would be a great pet for a family with children and open land for her to play and run! Sandi trained easily and can learn new tricks quickly. She does require undivided attention at times and loves time devoted to her.

Story
Max is my mother’s dog. She is senior and moved in with us. We already have 2 large dogs and while they get along, together the 3 are too energetic for the size of our house and a busy work and school schedule. Max is also a breed to would benefit from someone who walks and with play with him as my mom isn't very active. Skittish at first especially of men but great with family members he knows and trust. Wonderful with my kids. Not sure on cats but tries to heard things. Crate and house trained. When we lived out in the country he loves to run and play. Would be great for someone who is active and looking for a companion.

Story
Meet Autumn! Autumn is 27 pounds of pure personality, waiting to be your new best friend! Autumn is approximately 1 year old and is slowly learning the finer things in life, like a warm dog bed and trusting her human friends! Autumn is quite fearful around humans still and is learning to trust day by day. In the short time that she’s lived with her foster, she’s gone from completely shut down to becoming her little shadow (from a distance). At this point in Autumn’s decompression journey, she wants to be in the same room as you and will even jump up on the couch or human bed if you’re quiet, but move too quickly and she’ll go back to her dog bed where she can keep a watchful eye on you! Despite her fears, Autumn has never shown an ounce of aggression and she’s mastered the ability to look deep into your soul and you can just tell that with more time and patience, she is ready to fully trust someone! Autumn is potty trained, loves walks, and adores other pups — loves a good game of chase, a cuddle session, and is even happy to share her toys. She is most at ease when another dog is around and would do best in a home with another dog, or an experienced adopter who realizes she may take a bit more time to open up without a dog friend around! Given that Autumn is still building his trust with people, she needs a patient adopter willing to invest the time and energy in her development, at her pace. Her improvement in her foster home thus far shows just how ready she is to find her forever! In full disclosure, this is not a girl who comes brewery, art festival, youth sports tournament ready. Autumn should be considered a flight risk at first and let outside with a long lead and double leashed when walked. She may be low maintenance in the house, but she should always be watched near exit points and is not yet a dog that will come when called! Autumn needs a family with patience, love, and understanding as she navigates life outside of the shelter. She’s still figuring out the world, so brain games and gentle encouragement will help boost her confidence. If you’re up for a challenge, with a huge reward at the end, Autumn may be your girl! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Parfait is an Australian Kelpie mix who is full of love and kisses. This approx 18 month old girl is the perfect size at 44 lbs. Parfait came to her foster home after being a stray. She is cautious and timid at first, but once she warms up to you, she becomes an affectionate velcro dog. She is still learning household manners, and we’re just starting to work on basic commands. However, she is housebroken and crate trained. Parfait is great with other dogs and good with cats. She loves to run around the fenced yard with the other dogs. She walks nicely on the leash and is good in the car. Parfait will do best in a home with older children who will understand when to go slowly and give her space. This good girl will need a forever family who is willing to give her time to adjust. After a couple of weeks in her foster home, she is still jumpy with loud noises and sudden movements. Parfait will need some time and love to understand that she’s safe and home. --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html
