Anabelle came from a hoarding situation (as did Angel and Gillian) and it is pretty amazing that these dogs survived. Anabelle is a very quiet and gentle dog and very well-mannered. Her foster mom tells us that 'she is a good girl and trying to get the hang of being a dog! She loves her slow but steady walks and loves pets. And she also likes to follow us around the house!' Given the horrible situation she came from Annabelle must be so happy to be able to move around and explore and most of all be loved and cared for. Ansel is a beautiful dog who is on the smaller side. He is housetrained, crate trained with medium energy. His former people described him as 'sweet, loyal, snuggly, and playful.' He has a pretty strong prey drives for wildlife (squirrels, deer, foxes etc.. They reported to us that his favorite things to do are to chew on hard toys, play with balls in a fenced yard, go for walks and snuggle on the couch. In his prior home, Ansel was very protective of the mom and very loyal to her. We are looking for a home for Ansel with someone with experience with dogs. He would do best in a home with one person or a couple without children and would do best without other animals. Even with his protective behavior, his prior family described him as 'a wonderful dog' but given the children in the home it was not the right fit. She plays well with dogs of all ages and sizes. I've been working on leash training, but being the independent girl that she is, she has other ideas. She has already learned to sit when she sees a treat even before you ask her to. She sleeps all night with her brother, (6-8hrs). I have them set up in the bathroom with potty pads and an open crate for a soft place to sleep. She's doing well with potty pads (about 80% of the time) and she is easily corrected to use the potty pad. She loves to eat, but eats way too fast. I highly recommend a snuffle mat or a slow feeder to help her to eat slower.
