Story
Martha, Martha, Martha! What can we say about this sweet chonky girl? Martha is a very special girl and will need to be adopted into a very special family. You see, this little lady is a special needs girl. Her year in rescue has revealed that Martha has terrible skin allergies, a heart birth defect, and a blood clotting disorder. Now, this is not to say that she will not be able to bring lots of love and joy to her forever home, for many years. Her conditions will just need to be monitored. Martha was allergy-tested and found to be allergic to many things. She received allergy shots, and now just needs one shot a week. She responded amazingly well to the shots, and it is unknown how long she will need them, so her adopter will need to agree to continue with them. Her heart birth defect requires her to take medication once a day and will need to be continued throughout the rest of her life. She does not know she has anything wrong with her heart, so let’s not tell her! The blood clotting disorder would only become a problem if Martha were to need surgery, and steps could be taken to ensure her safety. If interested in making this extra special girl a part of your life, please go to forrescue.net, and complete an adoption application. Martha has been spayed, chipped, and is up to date on her vaccines. She is ready to find her happily ever after.

Story
Name: Captain Nicknames: Cap. Cappy. Cappuccino. Cappa. Chee-no. Breed: Bully mix Age: 3 years Weight: 56 lbs. Before OMD: Found as a stray. Spent a lot of time with our vet partner the last few months while we worked through his core vetting and extra diagnostics to make sure he was medically cleared for his adoption! His adopters should know he has a grade 3 murmur but it only presents itself when he is worked up/excited and it won't affect his quality of life or life span. Energy level: Medium. He goes for 2-3 mile walks when the weather cooperates. He does spend much of the day napping, but if he senses any movement and fun-to-be-had, he's springing into action. If he were a plant: He would be the invasive species variety. He likes to take up every inch of space around you. What we love most: When he leans his stocky-little-self into you for pets. When he rests his cylinder block head on you and stares up at you. When he army crawls over to you for pets. His always-in-a-good-mood disposition. The way he skips up the stairs and hops on the way back down. What he loves most: Ice cubes - as soon as he hears the freezer opening, he's bolting over and sitting like a VGB, patiently waiting for his cube. Attention. Pets. Walks. Snuggles. Food. Melting into his dog beds and couch cushions. Working on: Less pulling on leash when he sees little critters. Less corn-cobbing (nibbling) you when he's excited and wants attention. Less licking foster family members. Kids: 8+ please. He has not socialized yet with kiddos and we expect that he would easily knock little ones over. Dogs: His size or larger! He currently lives with 2 larger, low-key dogs and is very respectful (though could annoy a potential companion with his very "thoughtful" grooming techniques). Small dogs incite his prey drive and are a definite no. Cats: Hard pass House-trained: Yep! Crate-trained: Yes and he currently sleeps in his crate. Captain is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.

Story
Name: Dottie Nicknames: Gremlin. Little Lady. Breed: Bulldog mix Sex: Female Weight: ~30 lbs Age: 9 months Before OMD: Dottie's owner had to leave the country without notice, and when a friend of the owner heard, they thought of Dottie and went to check on her. Thankfully, they did as she had been alone for a few days without food or water and was, understandably, covered in urine as well. After a few baths, her vet appointments and medication, chew toys, and a whole lot of foster love, Dottie has thrived. Doppelgänger: A gremlin – in both spirit and sound. That one type of dragon from How to Train Your Dragon (you know the one). Energy Level: Medium-High…high for a Bulldog, moderate for a typical puppy. Introvert or Extrovert: Extrovert – she loves people, dogs, and attention. Best Physical Features: That squishable face. The compact, confident waddle. Her surprising ability to zoom. What we love most: Her gigantic personality in a petite body. How cuddly she is, especially in the mornings. How she keeps everyone laughing. The sass. The fact that she somehow makes snoring, grunting, and side-eye endearing What she loves most: Squeaky toys. Balls. ALL the attention. Car rides and adventures. Going to foster sister’s track meets. Working on: Dottie arrived with zero clue how to read other dogs’ social cues—she came in like a little tank ready to run the show. But she’s been working hard on learning manners, and now she only mostly insists on being the boss. She can be mouthy when she wants to play and take fetch (mainly giving it back) a little too seriously, but she is making great progress! Dogs: Good with medium to large, passive or submissive dogs. Still learning to read cues and play boundaries, but ultimately wants to play with every dog she meets. Again, she’s still working on not being the self-appointed boss (read: she’s a female bulldog who thinks she runs the show) Cats: Likely not a great fit – she may be too much for them due to her high chase/play drive. Kiddos: Done well with kids she’s met. Calm and gentle around them overall, though needs supervision around very young children due to persistence in games like fetch. She is also still working on mouthing and doesn't quite understand that the tiny humans aren't as sturdy as larger humans Housebroken: Nearly 100% – rare accidents. Crate Trained: Fully! She happily snoozes in her crate; though be warned, you might need earplugs. Ideal Family: Someone who knows and loves bulldog stubbornness and can laugh at her quirks. A home without balance issues (she’s always underfoot), with non-dominant animals, and ideally, younger or active adults or families. Dottie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents to CT and surrounding states.

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 STILL AVAILABLE 11/28/24 Poundcake (brown) and Shortbread (brindle) have been with me in rescue since they were 8wks old. They are now about a year old. These sweet girls have spina bifida which has left them completely incontinent. Other than incontinence, they have no other health problems. They are so deserving of a good life and forever home. They do well with diapers but require frequent changes because they are constantly dribbling. It would be helpful to express their bladders fully before diapering, to reduce their output. They currently sleep in a crate with a grate in bottom to stay clean. And they spend time on my porch which can be hosed off, on nice days. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to devote the time they deserve. They need homes of their own! They are SO SWEET. They can be adopted separately or together. They are excellent with other dogs of all sizes. They currently weigh about 45-50 lbs. They are spayed and up to date on everything. If anyone is interested in giving them a good forever home, this is the adoption application. https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.    Located in Arkansas, but transport is available.
