Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet String Bean — a 1–2 year old, 11 lb Italian Greyhound mix with impossibly long legs, giant flippy ears, and a face that looks like it was sketched by a cartoonist who really leaned into the “expressive” category. With her big eyes and exaggerated features, she’s been lovingly compared to Dobby the house-elf, and once you see her, you’ll understand why. She’s truly one-of-a-kind in both looks and personality. String Bean starts her day around 8:00 am with a trip to the yard for a bathroom break (though she will occasionally surprise you with a very early 5:00 am outing if needed). After a few treats, she usually heads straight back to bed to catch up on her beauty sleep. Around 11:30 am, the unmistakable sound of kibble pouring into a bowl brings her instantly to life. She is extremely food motivated and will sprint to her bowl to enthusiastically devour her meal. About 15 minutes later, she enjoys a short neighborhood walk before returning home to what she does best: napping. Her afternoons are a relaxed mix of lounging, light play, and the occasional playful wrestling match with her foster dog brother, Archie. Around 4:00 pm she heads back out for another bathroom break, sometimes opting for a quick walk if she’s feeling particular about the yard. The evening brings more naps, toy time, and playful bursts of energy, followed by dinner at 7:30 pm and another potty break. By 9:00 pm she’s winding down, and after one last bathroom trip around 11:30 pm, she happily settles into one of her dog beds for the night. From the moment she arrived, String Bean adjusted easily to home life. She was introduced to Archie outside and quickly bonded with him, to the point that she initially didn’t want to walk without him. While she played and explored right away, it took about a week for her full personality to shine through. That’s when she became more vocal, confident, and energetic during playtime. String Bean is a world-class cuddler. She loves curling up in your lap and can happily stay there for hours, soaking up warmth and affection. She enjoys being near her people and prefers to relax in the same room, but she’s also perfectly content staying put if she’s already found a cozy spot to nap. She’s affectionate without being clingy and has a very easygoing presence in the home. Her personality is gentle and sweet. She is not aggressive and does not bark excessively. She’s a little uncoordinated and cautious around heights, which only adds to her charm. She is highly food motivated, making training easier, and she has been working on basic commands like “sit” and “stay” (still a work in progress). She is also notably not a licker, which is a big plus for anyone who prefers minimal dog slobber. String Bean enjoys playtime in short bursts. She loves chasing balls (though retrieving and releasing are still theoretical concepts to her), tug-of-war, and trying to catch toys or even a towel dragged across the floor. She can now play for 30 minutes or more before wearing herself out. She’s more of a couch potato overall, but her athletic build means she can move effortlessly when she wants to. She’s great on short walks and could likely handle longer walks or even jogging, especially in warmer weather. Cold weather is not her favorite, and she does tend to shiver, even with a coat on... so if you're looking for a dog you can dress up, she's your gal! On leash, String Bean is a dream. She walks politely, stays attentive to her handler, doesn’t pull, and has never tried to chase squirrels or bark at other dogs. Occasionally she will freeze mid-walk to observe something interesting (often children at the playground), but a gentle leash cue gets her moving again. She watches calmly with curiosity, showing no fear or reactivity. She does very well with other dogs. She adores Archie, follows him around, and whines when they’re separated. She has also peacefully coexisted with another visiting dog. She has shown no reaction to cats seen from a distance and has been calm and unfazed around both adults and children, even at a busy holiday gathering. String Bean is mostly housetrained, with a few early accidents that are typical in a new environment. She is comfortable being gated in a hallway area at night or when her people are away. She does not use potty pads and currently does not have access to a doggy door. Overall, String Bean is a low-maintenance, affectionate little cartoon character come to life. She’s perfect for someone looking for a gentle companion who enjoys cuddling, lounging, and the occasional burst of playful energy. With her hilarious looks, sweet temperament, and easygoing nature, String Bean has a way of quietly stealing hearts — and then promptly falling asleep in your lap.December 31, 2025, 11:31 am
