Story
Oakley is a super sweet red & white, 14-year-old old girl. Oakley is mourning the loss of her partner, Wagner, who recently went to the Rainbow Bridge. She is learning to continue life on her own. Oakley loves car rides and walks, and she is crate trained and knows the dog door. We suggest no small children for her. She is very agile, does stairs, and can get on furniture easily. She will get on those counters, so watch where you put your food. She would love for you to pet her all day long. She will get as close to you as she can and give lots of nudges. Oakley loves to play with other dogs and will bark to get them to play with her, but she does tend to be the alpha. An adoption application is required but does not commit you to adoption. For the application and information about the adoption process, please visit www.bhrg.org.

Story
Could you use a little "Joy" in your life? She originally came in to the care of BHRG 5 years ago. She's older now, but still spunky as she demands to be the queen of her castle and the only canine her adult humans adore (she doesn't appreciate the young two leggers either). She's on anti seizure meds and they're working quite nicely for her. If you have a home that fits this description, Joy will gladly do her best to love you the rest of her days. An adoption application is required but does not commit you to adoption. For the application and information about the adoption process, please visit www.bhrg.org. Story
Bogey is an 8-9 year old red & white boy. Bogey has been such a joy in his foster home. He loves to sniff around outdoors, snooze, and get lots and lots of pets. He’s friendly with the people and animals we pass on our walks and does well on a leash and harness. (He needs a home with no small children.) He may not enjoy the sound of thunder, but he’s a great listener, whether you’re asking him to return to you or just complaining about your day! He doesn’t play much with toys, but will never say no to a scratch behind the ears. Bogey would do best in a home with a yard he can explore and people who can love on him. He’s a smiley sweetheart! Bogey recently had a mast cell tumor and hemangiosarcoma removed. The vets did get clean margins on both, but his undercarriage is riddled with hemangiosarcoma spots. An adoption application is required but does not commit you to adoption. For the application and information about the adoption process, please visit www.bhrg.org.

Story
Thurston is a red and white boy who is now getting settled in foster care. Here's what he has to say! "Hello! I'm Thurston Howl or TH to my friends. I am a young hound about 3 years old with lots of energy and a love of playtime. Fetching a ball and chasing toys around the house are among my favorite games. I also need a walk each day for my exercise. I can live with another dog but need a strong dog that can put me in my place. Otherwise, I can play a bit too rough, and I don't mean to be a bully. I can be a bit of a moody dog and do not like to be bothered when I am resting or sleeping. I do have a loud houndy bark that I use to show my displeasure with things that are not going my way or that are scary to me. I can also be over reactive to things that are not going my way. Every morning I get eye drops that I take for dry eye and will take for the rest of my life. If you think I would be perfect for you, let's set up a play date to meet in person. An adoption application is required but does not commit you to adoption. For the application and information about the adoption process, please visit www.bhrg.org.

Story
Ollie is a tri-colored fellow who is around 4 years old. He was adopted previously but found himself homeless when his new owner developed health issues. Ollie needs a secure yard - preferably with a privacy fence as he is known to climb chain link fences. He would also prefer a home without small children. He's doing well in his foster home, so we hope to have more details soon. An adoption application is required but does not commit you to adoption. For the application and information about the adoption process, please visit www.bhrg.org.

Story
Skips is a five year old beagle with the traditional loud beagle howl. He follows his nose everywhere and so he would be best placed in a house with a yard. He does tend to be fearful and timid, but can be won over with lots of treats. Once you've earned his trust you can look forward to the best of cuddles. We're really looking to place Skips and Marty (the husky in the picture) together in the same home, but if we have to split them up, Skips would be best placed in a home with another smaller dog. It may take time to adjust, so we're looking for something transitional where we don't just drop him off and say goodbye. We truly want him to grow and love his new family. So if it takes a few weeks that's ok! We're also ok with an open adoption! haha Would love to see pics of him from time to time living his best life in his new home. ✔ Housetrained ✔ Knows commands "sit" "come" & "kennel up"

Unfortunately I tried to keep my dogs and actually let my house go into foreclosure. I sold it at the last minute and Tebow is not suited to apartment living. Cookie and Tebow would like to remain together but I realize that may not be possible.

Story
All our dogs are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. Senior dogs receive extra bloodwork and we try to do dental cleanings on any dogs that need them. Most of the dogs in our care are crate-trained and cat tested. We test with kids when we can. Our process can seem involved and long - we appreciate your patience. Adopting a dog is not like buying a candy bar in the checkout lane; it should never be a last-minute decision or one that is not fully thought out. Asher is a sweet awesome boy about 6 years old.  All he wants to do is be with you and be loved on.   We rescued Asher just in the nick of time. He was pretty sick and probably wouldn't have live much longer in the shelter. On top of a very serious resperatory infection he also had heartworms and a bad foot. At first no one realized how bad the foot was (including the vet) until a few months later when the infection had spread. He ended up needing to have the leg amputated, but it hasn't effected him one bit, other than he is now feeling great and his personality in now really showing. Asher would be a great addition to any family, one with other pets or one without. He is very much a people dog, but gets along great with other Dogs, Cats and Kids... perfect for any family. If you a looking for a companion just to hang out with and snuggle... Asher is your guy. Ascher is currently being fostered about 2 hours south of Atlanta. We hope to bring him to Atlanta as soon as we have an open foster home in the area. Like what you see? Fill out our online application! We work on a first received, first approved, first adopted basis. We definitely encourage people who are interested in adopting, even if they haven't found the right dog yet, to fill out an application. Our process can take as long as two weeks (we work day jobs!) so having an already approved application speeds things up considerably when you see a dog that catches your eye. May 22, 2023, 1:16 pm
