Story
Hi! It’s a me – Mateo! I am approx. 2yr old Basset hound mix – we don’t know what I’m mixed with, but I have cute little stubby legs like a basset and big ol’ ears like Yoda! I was brought to NDLB after being found on a beach in Mexico. The volunteers there said I was having to come to the good life in Minnesota with NDLB. I jumped on it and said hop to it! Since coming up to MN, I have started to learn new things. I know “sit” and “kennel” (in English!). I no longer have to scrounge around for food, but I mean, I’m part basset so I will always love food so willing to learn new things if food is involved. I am crate trained & house trained. While in a crate, I don’t make any sounds – in fact I rarely bark unless we’re in the car and someone walks by. I do fine in the car being tethered, but I prefer to sit close to someone. I love everyone I meet, but can be a little pushy with personal space so do need someone who will cuddle with me at times but also teach me when enough is enough. I am good with dogs, but may come out a little strong (I mean, I’m a short little guy), so slow intros are best. But once I know them, all is good. I do pull some on leash – as I usually follow my nose. I have zoomies in the yard, but also trot around sniffing. I love laying in the sun and stretching out my little legs.
