Story
My name is Mateo but my foster mom calls me shorty, probably because of my short legs. I am a basset hound but my face looks a lot like a German shepherd.  I’m very sweet and affectionate. They think I'm around 1-2 years old. I sleep quietly in my crate at night and I haven’t had any accidents at my foster moms house. When a rescue in Mexico found me, I had been living on the streets and struggling to find meals.  I traveled a pretty far distance: all the way from Mexico to the midwest in search of a family and stability.    Because of my past with food-insecurity, I don’t know how to share snacks/treats/etc with others.  Please be patient as I try to overcome this, and help set me up for success by not having me in situations where there could be “food scuffles” with other pets.  (Thank you in advance for making sure that my needs are met and I don’t have to go hungry anymore!)   I have a lot of energy, but that’s part of my charm!  I’m a silly boy and you’re guaranteed to laugh.  I’m smart as a whip and can learn tricks and commands quite well. Although I’m high-energy, I also have great regulation skills and can calm down when it’s time for cuddles.  I may have left a warmer climate, but I am still in search of a warm HOME.  Will you open your doors and your hearts to me?  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 6:05 pm

Meet Mahi! She loves to dance for attention and she’s so loving. She’s a dachshund or basset mix with maybe some shepherd in her. She’s about 10 months old and weighs 27 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.April 17, 2024, 11:15 am

Story
Meet Dolly- Dolly is a happy go-lucky 4 month old puppy, she is a low rider and weighs 25 lbs. By the size of her paws she will grow into a medium sized dog in the 40 lb range. Don't let those short Basset legs fool you - she is very agile and can keep up with the big dogs- she loves chasing and being chased.  Dolly also loves to cuddle up with cats and cats seem to love her. She is respectful to both cats and dogs which makes her an easy companion for just about any resident pet.  Dolly does need to adopted into a home with another dog. Dolly is potty trained where she will go potty on command every time she goes outside. She has had very few accidents which is quite an accomplishment at only 4 months old. She is loves to eat and is totally treat motivated which makes training fun since she will do anything for treats. She has had some training and knows all the basic commands including STAY. Dolly loves playing with toys and has a blast emptying out the toy basket. She is just learning to fetch and it's so much fun watching her discover new ways to have fun. She loves car rides, where she curls up and goes to sleep. Dolly is a good little hiking buddy  and loves adventures!  She has good energy and loves being active and then loves to snuggle up for a good nap. Dolly is silly and fun and will make you laugh all day. Her young life is just getting started and you will  have fun training her to be just the perfect dog that fits your lifestyle.  If you're interested in adding some fun to your family, please fill out an application for Dolly! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Zummo, a delightful 3-year-old male Bassett Hound mix eagerly seeking his new home! This lovable pooch is a social butterfly, getting along famously with dogs and humans of all ages. Zummo is mostly potty trained and has a grasp of basic commands, making him a joy to be around. He's leash trained, affectionate, and loves to play. While he's currently working on crate training, Zummo's true passion lies in spending quality time with his people, soaking up all the love and attention he can get. Zummo's one quirk is that he can be a bit vocal, so he might do best in a setting without shared walls. If you're looking for a devoted companion who's always up for fun and cuddles, consider welcoming Zummo into your heart and home. Zummo is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Rambler is a Beagle/Lab/Terrier mix (we are guessing!) Who is oh so sweet and good natured. Rambler came to us from a background of hardship. We don't know the full story but was told part of one of his ears was shot off? Was he a stray in a rural area and was shot at? We are not sure, but he came to rescue pretty meek and frightened of humans.  He also came to rescue with heartworm. He was successfully treated for that and has been diligently kept on Heartguard (Tri Heart Plus) since then.  He also has made HUGE progress since being in rescue. He is now more trusting and happy and open. He is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on a leash and loves to be with other dogs.  We are looking for a home for him with another dog (it helps his confidence) and a fenced in yard.  Rambler is one of those "heart dogs" that just get to you as you watch them embrace the kind of life they were meant to live.  If you want to make a difference in Rambler's life by giving him a loving home, please fill out our form below! He's a true snugglebug at heart, finding comfort curled up next to his favorite humans, preferably under cozy blankets.   This adorable beagle's adventures are guided by his inquisitive nose, craving the scents of the world during his "sniff-ari" walks.
