WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🌟🐾 Meet Gypsy — Short Legs, Big Heart, Still Waiting 💛🐾 Gypsy has been waiting… and waiting… and waiting. And honestly? She’s waited far too long for a girl this special. At 2 years old and 28 pounds, Gypsy is a delightful blend of Cattle Dog smarts and Basset Hound charm — think low-rider body, big-dog energy, and a personality that could light up a room. She’s basically the off-road model of a best friend: compact, sturdy, and always ready for an adventure. Gypsy LOVES her walks and is getting better and better on leash every day. She’s happiest when she’s outside, exploring the yard, supervising chores, or keeping an eye out for squirrels (her self-appointed job, and she takes it very seriously). When playtime winds down, she’s just as content following her favorite human around like a loyal little shadow. She’s playful, affectionate, and full of goofy charm. Toys are fun. Shoelaces are very intriguing. And her signature low-rider zoomies? Absolutely legendary. 🐾 Gypsy’s Highlights: ✅ 2 years old, 28 lbs ✅ Dog-friendly ✅ House & crate trained ✅ Loves walks and outdoor time ✅ Sweet, silly, and full of personality ✅ Equal parts sass, snuggles, and sunshine While Gypsy does great with other dogs, cats are an unknown — mostly because Gypsy believes squirrels are public enemy #1 — so she may prefer a home without feline roommates. What Gypsy really wants, though, isn’t much. She wants a family who will love her quirks, laugh at her goofy legs, and finally give her the forever home she’s been patiently waiting for. She’s ready to be someone’s hiking buddy, couch companion, and daily dose of happiness. 💛 Gypsy has so much love to give — she just needs someone to give her a chance. Short legs. Big heart. Endless loyalty. ✨ Apply today at haydudeequine.org and let Gypsy finally stop waiting and start living the life she deserves. 🐾💛

Story
Odie is a fun, loving, sweet boy. He is 8 years old, fully house trained, good with kids, other dogs and cats. He loves to be outside to lay down and watch the squirrels. Inside he loves to snuggle or play with dog toys. He could be with a family or just one on one and thrive. If you are looking for a sidekick, Odie is your boy! Odi is estimated to be 8 years old and 45 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events. Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ for confirmed attendance the morning of the event. Story
Meet Stumpy, a 1.5-year-old Basset Hound/Poodle mix with medium energy who balances walks and playtime with plenty of snuggles. Rescued from an Arkansas shelter where he was on the euthanasia list due to lack of space, Stumpy is now safe in Minnesota, thriving in foster care, and ready for his forever home. He’s a happy, silly, people-adoring goofball who loves being near his humans, happily following you around the house, though he’s also content curling up on the bedroom floor during quiet moments. He’s great on walks, enjoys car rides, and absolutely delights in snowy adventures (with a little help clearing his paws afterward). Stumpy is potty trained but may mark briefly in new environments until he settles into a routine, enjoys other dogs, is okay with cats with respectful introductions, and may do well with kids given thoughtful, supervised meet-and-greets. He’s working on polite greetings and can jump when excited, so continued positive reinforcement training will help him shine. A bit picky about food, he does best with a consistent, quality diet, and his Basset/Poodle coat requires regular brushing and occasional professional grooming. Stumpy will thrive in a home where his people are around often, can maintain a consistent potty schedule, enjoy daily walks and cozy cuddle time, and don’t have stability or mobility challenges due to his enthusiastic, bouncy nature. Silly, affectionate, and the perfect blend of adventure buddy and couch companion, Stumpy is ready to be your loyal, smile-inducing everyday sidekick.       Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $625.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 4, 2026, 8:03 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxMeet Moto! Moto is a sweet, low-riding pup with adorable basset hound legs and a heart full of love. He gets along great with other dogs and loves to follow his foster sibling around the yard—he’s so short, he can even stroll right under her belly! Moto approaches every day with joyful enthusiasm, whether it’s playing with the resident dog, going for walks around the neighborhood, or snuggling on the couch with his nose resting on his foster’s shoulder. During the day, Moto is content to relax on his dog bed nearby while his foster works from home. He’s crate-trained, sleeps peacefully through the night, and does great when left alone, either in the crate or without it. He knows the basic commands of “sit” and “down” and walks well on a leash with occasional reminders to slow down, though he does find squirrels very exciting. Once he gets to know you, Moto’s expressive nature shines—his ears and voice tell you everything he’s feeling. His ears perk straight up when he’s excited, lay back on his head to listen when he walks ahead, and flop to the sides when he’s relaxed. He gives wide, squeaky yawns in the morning, may whine if he’s feeling lonely, yips excitement when it is time for a walk, and grunts when he is uncertain. He also has a deep, loud bark when he is alarmed or to alert that he needs to go out. That isn’t frequent, but might not be ideal for apartment living. Moto is recovering from a limp, and his short legs make stairs a bit of a challenge. He manages the shorter porch steps with a little help but avoids long flights of stairs. Moto would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can enjoy companionship, cozy naps, regular walks, and playtime with a dog friend. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-to-the-ground sweetheart who will fill your days with love and laughter, Moto would love to meet you!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Meet Preacher — Nothing but a Hound Dog (and proud of it).  Preacher lives and breathes by the lyrics of “You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Hound Dog,” because… well… he ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog. No DNA test needed, no Maury episode required — this boy’s daddy was 100% hound. True to his hound heritage, Preacher puts that legendary nose to work daily and isn’t shy about using his voice to alert you when something seems amiss (which could be an actual concern… or a leaf that looked at him funny). If you’re looking for a quiet companion, Preacher politely suggests you keep scrolling — but if you love personality, welcome home. Preacher first came to our rescue as a puppy and was adopted into a loving home. Unfortunately, life changes happened and he couldn’t stay, so he’s back with us and ready for his second chance at forever. The good news? We know he’s been loved, is potty trained, and is extremely enthusiastic about food. Speaking of food… Preacher is on special food, as his previous family noted he sometimes had trouble digesting meals as a puppy. Our best guess? He eats like he’s competing in an Olympic speed event. A slow feeder is definitely his friend, and we’ve occasionally noticed some reverse sneezing, which may have been part of the issue. None of this slows him down when dinner is involved. In his foster home, Preacher is learning how to live with multiple dogs and is practicing the idea that sharing is caring (especially when snacks are involved). He can be trusted outside of a kennel, though he was crated at night initially to help him settle in. He has also previously lived with a cat and coexisted harmoniously, proving he can be respectful of his feline roommates. Preacher would love a home with room to stretch his hound legs and people who enjoy adventures. Shared walls are not recommended — unless you’re looking to relocate due to noise complaints. He has only ever lived with a fenced-in yard, so his new family will need to ensure he gets adequate exercise and enrichment to give that classic hound personality a healthy outlet for his energy. He’s also rocking a little extra fluff these days — think “maybe I had a few too many cookies last year” — so we’re working on trimming the turkey with walks, structure, and portion control. Medical & Care Notes: Preacher has had ear infections in the past, so his future family will need to commit to weekly ear cleanings to help keep those long hound ears healthy and infection-free. He also has a few lumps and bumps that the vet believes are fatty tumors, which is not unusual for a handsome gentleman of 9 years young who may be carrying a little extra junk in the trunk. Nothing alarming — just part of loving a seasoned hound. Preacher does take direction well… but his foster mom says giving him too much direction might set him up for failure, because sometimes a hound’s gonna hound. If you’re looking for a loyal, vocal, food-motivated explorer with soulful eyes, big personality, and a whole lot of heart, Preacher is ready to preach his way right into your home.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination.
