Story
Meet Charlee! This sweet, silly, low-riding girl has been through a lot and she’s ready for her happy ending. Charlee is the kind of dog who steals hearts in quiet, endearing ways. She has the cutest little snorewhen she sleeps, an irresistible butt wiggle when she’s happy, and the softest little nibble when she takes treats. She’s a bit timid at first, but she warms up quickly and truly wants to find “her people.” Once she does, she’s loyal, affectionate, and happiest being close by. Charlee is currently fostered with other dogs and teenage children and gets along beautifully with everyone. She sleeps in bed with her foster family and finds a way to be roughing someone at all times. She does well being gated to one level of the home when left alone. She does well in her kennel and seems to view it as a safe, cozy space. We haven’t heard Charlee bark but she cries for a while when left alone. Charlee loves treats, belly rubs, and cuddling — simple joys that mean the world to her. She’s an easygoing, gentle soul who will make a wonderful, loving addition to any family lucky enough to call her their own. Charlee is estimated to be 2 years old and 39 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. We hope to see you at an upcoming Meet & Greet! Saturday, February 21, 12:00-2:00pm, Forgotten Star Brewing, 38 Northern Stacks Drive, Fridley https://www.facebook.com/events/1406567791037135

Story
Cornelius #976 Age: 9.5 years old Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 47 pounds Bellamy and Cornelius are a bonded pair of basset males that came to MNBR when their family could no longer afford their medical care or basic necessities. Cornelius was in urgent need of bladder stone removal surgery and Bellamy needed a dental and has a leg that’s been swollen for months. Both boys were seen at our vet on 1/28 and got everything they needed. Nelly had one large, one medium, and several small stones removed from his bladder. He will need to be on a prescription diet going forward and should be checked regularly for stones. Belly was diagnosed with a hygroma which is more annoying than anything else and will hopefully subside with time. For more information on adopting with MNBR visit https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption MNBR adopts locally as much as possible so we can properly support our foster dogs and adopters if the need arises. We accept applications from within the following areas: all of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and other applicants within a 8 hour radius of our headquarters in St. Paul, MN. Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue based in Minnesota. MNBR rehomes dogs from owners who can no longer provide their care and rescues dogs from local pounds and shelters. As an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue we welcome anyone who loves dogs and wishes to help hounds live a healthy and happy life. Our organization provides safe, loving foster home, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities while working hard to find them a permanent, loving home!

Story
Orchid #967 Age: 6 years old Color & Breed: Red/White Basset Gender: Spayed Female Weight: 41 pounds Orchids bloom with care, and Orchid #967 is ready to thrive. This 6-year-old red-and-white female came from a commercial breeder and is ready to let her guard down and love with her whole heart. Orchid is learning many new things, like walking on a leash, getting housetrained, and what the heck is making those weird loud noises she doesn’t like. Orchid LOVES stuffed toys and enjoys the company of other dogs. She could adjust to any kind of yard situation, although a fence would be best since she’s still a little shy. A quiet home full of toys and patient people is just the type of “greenhouse” Orchid needs. Story
Bonnie #955 Age: 1 year old Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset Gender:Spayed Female Weight: 31 pounds Required: Fenced yard Bonnie #955 is a one-year-old spayed tricolor female basset with the sweetest brown face. She came to MNBR as a breeder release from Iowa and is making basset-sized strides at becoming a house dog. She’s comfortable in her kennel and lets herself in and out for potty breaks, although she’s still a bit of a work in progress there. She will need a fenced-in yard and a home without small children (noises are scary!) she is young and loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home, so a young dog buddy would be ideal. Take a load off and sit down at Bonnie’s level and she’ll come say hello. She’s also figuring out that toys are fun—and that everything is a toy if you wish hard enough. She is a great little guard dog and will let you know when someone new enters the house. As she begins to find her place, she seems to have a more assertive personality.
