Meet Bronx, a cute little chunk with a sturdy build, squatty legs, and a personality that’s just as solid as he is. He’s the kind of dog whose eyes sparkle, as if he’s got a secret to share-he’s a charmer! Bronx was found as a stray in Texas. Although he was microchipped, his previous owner chose not to reclaim him. That fresh start left him understandably nervous in the beginning. In his kennel, he would “tap dance,” shifting and stepping anxiously as he tried to settle. But once given a larger kennel, he felt more secure and it seemed to help him feel safe. He eats, gets his treats, naps and brings toys in to play in his kennel. Bronx may be built low to the ground, but every now and then he surprises you with a burst of zoomies - he can really move! He’s goofy, playful, tail is always wagging - he clearly enjoys soaking up the simple joys of life. When he gets especially excited, Bronx can be a little mouthy (he is working on it), but it’s all in good fun. There’s nothing aggressive about it; it’s just his enthusiasm bubbling over. Because of that, he may do best in a home without very small children, just to ensure everyone’s play styles match comfortably. Enthusiasm when on walks should also be noted; he wants to GET THERE, even though he isn’t sure where you are going (working on this). He is potty trained on a schedule, and is still wearing a belly band (you guessed it, working on it). * Car rides - YES! * Walks - YES! * Playing with toys (squeaker and stuffed are favorites) - at least 2 times per day! * Snow in March - FUN - barreled right through the drifts - barely even noticed the cold or snow * Uses a footstool to get on the couch - YES! * Snuggles up to watch TV at night (but falls asleep) - YES At heart, Bronx is a happy, affectionate boy who needs a second chance to feel secure. He’s ready for a home where he can continue to feel safe, loved, and continue to play with toys! Bronx is from Texas. ——— This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. Bellamy #975 Age: 7.5 years old Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 60 pounds Bellamy and Cornelius are a bonded pair of basset males that came to MNBR when their family could no longer afford their medical care or basic necessities. Cornelius was in urgent need of bladder stone removal surgery and Bellamy needed a dental and has a leg that’s been swollen for months. Both boys were seen at our vet on 1/28 and got everything they needed. Nelly had one large, one medium, and several small stones removed from his bladder. He will need to be on a prescription diet going forward and should be checked regularly for stones. Belly was diagnosed with a hygroma which is more annoying than anything else and will hopefully subside with time.
