Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Sammy, he’s a delightful 7 year old, 70lb basset hound. He is never short of happiness. Sammy is a model citizen and can be left alone in the house. Sammy loves to lay around, but he will protect his people, although not excessively.  Sammy gets along with other dogs but if they show aggression, he will stand his ground.  We are told that Sammy can have some food aggression with other dogs.  Sammy is great with kids and they are naturally drawn to him.  Adoption fee includes: full veterinary exam, neuter, prepaid microchip, 4DX, Rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dewormer, flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2023, 11:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Caitlin is a little sweetheart, about 6 years old, about 28 lbs. We think she is a Basset Hound, maybe Chi mix. Her body is long-ish, but her face looks more like a pug or terrier mix. She has a nice temperament and is good with other dogs. Would like a quiet home. Here's what Caitlin's foster says about her:   Caitlin is the sweetest, happiest dog. She loves being around her people, and is very affectionate and cuddly - she would love to curl up with you and watch TV on the couch, or follow you around the house to see what you're up to. She is housetrained and does well in her crate at night. She gets along well with other dogs. She enjoys long walks and playing in the yard, but is also very happy to spend the day napping.    Interested in adopting? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** DOB: 11/01/2018 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 42.6 lbs Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, needs a fenced yard Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Copper. I am a lovely adult female Basset Hound. I do not like loud noises, and I am initially shy, but I warm up quickly then my playful side emerges! Hee, hee!! I am crate trained but am still working on potty training and since I have the luxury of a fenced yard, I don’t have much leash experience either so I will need my new yard to be fenced too. I have never met any cats, but I am good with kids and other dogs. My favorite activities are playing with my resident fur sibs, verbally expressing my excitement, and partaking in some small Milk-Bone treats…YUMMM!! I truly am the sweetest girl EVER and I am simply looking for a fur-ever home with a patient family who will love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me! Hopefully YOU will be my new family because I would love to spend the rest of my life by your side! I promise, I’m totally worth it and I will love you more than I love myself!  Love, Copper Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Story
When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I am ready when you are, do your stuff so we can ride off into the sunset, in air conditioning, of course! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.//     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.org Adoption Fee $350 plus taxHi World, My name is Thorsten, but I respond to Milo. I am a typical knucklehead, maybe bulldog. Look at my head. Anyway I can be stubborn, but my foster is working on that. i can also be a bit possesive of my things. We are learning respect, and as per the photo of me in the crate its working, in order to eat I have to go to my crate. I still have puppy in me and will pull my blankets out of my crate, and if not told maybe try to chew on a couch pillow. I do love my big red bucket in the yard, yes I play with it. I get along with the other dogs in the house, and there are a few. There are these other things also, cats I believe. I guess I am not suppose to chase them, but when they run I want to join. Otherwise they seem OK and want to kiss me, yuk. So if you have a nice yard with a fence to play in, maybe an other dog to play with, and are willing to continue to train me I would love to meet you, as long as you don’t mind me climbing over you to get next to you on the couch. Yes I like the couch... *Thorsten would do best in a home with no small children*    If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   or     *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Zeke! He is a beagle mix born approx. 11/25/22. He gets along with the resident dogs and cat. He loves to give kisses. Although he is still a puppy, he doesn't care much for little kids and sometimes can be very reserved when new people come to his foster home. Zeke is almost fully potty trained and has learned to sit, leave it and on occasion he will shake. We've been working on him settling down when it comes to dinner time as he becomes extremely excited. Everytime we get his food he now sits and waits patiently. He is very smart but he can be extremely stubborn. He does enjoy vocalizing and gets the zoomies after dinner. Kennel is not something he likes very much at all. He would prefer to be next to his person. He sleeps through the night with no accidents as long as he is let out right away in the morning. He is a loving and sweet boy, who loves to smother those he loves with kisses so if you're grossed out by puppy kisses he may not be right for you.  Zeke is also a jumper/climber. Baby gates won't stop him. Sometimes I think he was born in the wrong body or maybe he used to be a goat in his past life.  Zeke makes the most perfect cuddle pup you could ask for. He wants to be by your side every minute of every day!  He would be perfect for a one dog home.  His best friend is a cat! They make such a funny duo. Zeke and our cat play very nicely together, as if they are best buds. Zeke might be too much for a cat who doesn't want to play. Zeke is a very loyal dog who is looking for his human. If you're looking for a partner in crime...this little guy is it! He loves to cuddle up on the couch and smother you with kisses, he doesn't like to share his human mom with the resident dogs. So I believe a home with no other dogs would be best.     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $595.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2023, 11:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.//     Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.org Adoption Fee $400 plus taxPoppy is a very sweet and very curious girl. She is very shy when meeting new people, but once warmed up she won’t leave your side. Poppy would do fine in a family setting, however she tends to pick “her person” and then wants to be with that one person 24/7. Once warmed up, Poppy also does great with other dogs. In fact, she would do best in a home with another canine friend to show her the way in life. Poppy is VERY adventurous and curious. She spends most of her day sniffing around the house and outside. She is not much of a napper. She does pretty well on walks as long as she can stop and sniff along the way. She loves to chew on Nylabones! Poppy has mastered the art of escaping kennels and baby gates. So when home alone she does best free roaming the house as long as it is doggy safe for her curious mind. Poppy has had a few potty accidents in her foster’s home. But she is working on potty training and seems to be catching on! Poppy does not know a lot of tricks, but is pretty good with “come” and is working on “sit” and “stay”.If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.
