Story
Looking for a dog with personality plus? Look no further than Podge! This mature basset/beagle mix is looking for his forever "pack." He is incredibly social, loves to go on scent-adventures, and is the best cuddler in town. True to his breeds, Podge is quite conversational and will gladly narrate his day with melodic bays, especially when he sees a squirrel or wants some scratches! Because he loves to talk, he would do best in a home where he can be part of the family action, not a quiet apartment. If you're looking for a loyal, funny companion who will keep you entertained, Podge is your man!

Story
Shelby is was adopted from a shelter six years ago by my elderly father. My father has been hospitalized and is unlikely to be able to return home. In the meantime I’ve been taking care of her but am no longer able to. She is currently seven years old. She’s used to a quiet home where she is the only pet. She’d thrive in a loving, quiet environment with daily walks and naps. Shelby is very affectionate, shy, curious and loving.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Sweet senior Daisy is single and ready to mingle! She came to us when her Former Owner had to go into assisted living. Daisy is a very sweet gal who likes to spend her day laying in the backyard and soaking up the sunshine! She would prefer a home with a fenced in backyard. Daisy weighs 64 pounds and according to the vet could use to lose about five more! She is fine with other dogs, has not been cat tested, we are not sure how she does in a crate because frankly, she has been perfectly fine without using one! She is house broken, up-to-date on her shots, spayed, and recently had surgery on her eye to remove a growth. She does have a minor deformity on one of her legs, but we had it x-rayed and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it! It is just a very basset crooked paw! Daisy is currently being fostered in the Dayton area. Her adoption fee is $300.   Adoption Process: To meet one our dogs you must first fill out our application on our website ohiobassetrescue.com. Once submitted one of our volunteers will reach out to you. Upon approval you will be given an approval code to email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. Approvals are good for 6 months for any current or future dogs. After 6 months you will be directed to fill out an updated application. Please note we only process applications where the adopter lives in OH, IN, KY, PA, WV, lower MI. Adopters must be willing to travel to meet the dog they are adopting. Dogs locations are listed on their profile description on our website. Dogs are NOT all located in Brookville, that is our mailing address. Story
Buster is an incredibly sweet and loyal boy. He will turn 11 this year but he still has so much love to give. He wants nothing more than a lap to nap on and a full belly. Buster does have chronic ear infections but, they are easy to treat if it is noticed early. He is a 58lbs boy who currently lives with other dogs but doesn't love meeting new ones, as he gets older. He can be overly assertive with others dogs. He does not like cats and sees them as prey. He comes from a home where he has been loved and adored but, my partner died very unexpectedly and I have had to move into a much smaller house, with a smaller yard and cats. He is bonded to me but loves meeting new people and is eager to make new human friends.

Story
Avery came to us as a stray. Later an unanimous citizen told us her name, but nothing else. Avery is a cutie, young and energetic. Avery will need a family willing to work on manners and housebreaking. Avery walks well on a leash. She seems to do well around the other dogs here in the shelter. Avery did briefly meet a couple of our house cats. She did well but then wanted to play. She may do best in a kitty free home or with a family willing to work on her co-existing with a cat(s). If interested in adopting and visiting Avery, please fill out an online application and once approved we will be in contact to schedule a time to visit.
