Story
Shelby is was adopted from a shelter six years ago by my elderly father. My father has been hospitalized and is unlikely to be able to return home. In the meantime I’ve been taking care of her but am no longer able to. She is currently seven years old. She’s used to a quiet home where she is the only pet. She’d thrive in a loving, quiet environment with daily walks and naps. Shelby is very affectionate, shy, curious and loving.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Poor Poppy needs to BUST OUT OF THE KENNEL!! She is looking for the perfect home FOR HER! Please read the entire post before jumping in and saying “I’ll take her!”  Poppy needs to be the only dog in the home. She is ok visiting other dogs in dog parks etc not LIVING with other dogs. She has shown guarding issues over her bed and people in the past and where as this could be something corrected in time, we don’t know that for sure and want to set her up in a home for success.  Poppy needs a home with no small children who live in or frequently visit the home. Again this is due to her food issues and we want her to STAY in her next home. So if your kids are older but your young grandkids visit, that’s a no.  We will not be requiring a home with a fence due to her other issues but she is still a young dog (2 years old) so she will need a lot of exercise.  Where as a fenced yard would be ideal we can make an exception if she will be properly exercised.  Poppy is 2, fully UTD, spayed and chipped. She is being kenneled in Columbus due to all foster homes having other dogs. Her adoption fee is $300 and we adopt out to people who LIVE in Ohio or a state that BORDERS it.  Please apply online at ohiobassetrescue.com and if approved with us in the last 6 months email ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 8, 2026, 1:15 pm

Story
Katydid – Your Tiny Superhero in Fur! &#226&#156&#168 Looking for a best friend with superpowers? Katydid is a 1 yo Basset Hound who is ready to save the day (and your heart)! Superpower #1: Ultra-Soft Floof. Her fur is soft… but those ears? Even softer. Warning: petting may result in instant happiness and zero productivity because you won’t want to stop. Superpower #2: The Incredible Sniff. Crumbs on the floor? Gone. Snack wrapper hiding in the couch? Found. Katydid’s nose misses NOTHING. Superpower #3: Love Without Limits. Dogs? Besties. People? Obsessed. Kids? Yes, please. Cats? New friends! Katydid is the definition of friendly. She believes everyone she meets is just a friend she hasn’t kissed yet. Whether it’s cuddle time on the couch, playtime in the yard, or greeting you like a rockstar when you walk through the door, Katydid is ready to make every day great.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   March 7, 2026, 9:24 am

Story
I'm a classic Basset Hound, I believe life is best enjoyed slowly, preferably waddling beside someone I adore, stopping every few steps to investigate an interesting smell and then looking up at you like you hung the moon. If you sit down, I will be there. If you lie down, I will absolutely be there. I specialize in warm snuggles, dramatic sighs, and soft little kisses delivered straight to your cheek when you least expect them. Physical affection is my passion, and I give it generously. When I'm not perfecting the art of relaxation, I'm dedicating myself to my squeaky toys.

Story
Obi is an energetic young boy that loves to spend time running outside! He is very loving and always wants to cuddle or play. He has been good with our cat and young toddler with limited contact. Obi had a medical issue that required surgery when he was a born and due to this surgery he does dribble pee. Some days are better than others, we used to have him wear diapers but he would tear them up so we just get him outside as much as possible. Other than that he is a good boy that deserves a good home. One that can really give home the time together that he deserves.

Story
Strawberry very sweet and affectionate. Strawberry is being rehomed because she can not be trusted around toddlers or babies. Because she can’t be trusted around them, she is often separated from the family, and I know she doesn’t like that, nor it is fair. She is a sweet and very intelligent dog. She is up to date on all core vaccines, and her teeth were cleaned within the last year. She is fully house trained, and she makes a great indoor dog. Vets have always assumed she was a beagle lab. She is 11; however, the vet says she is very healthy! She is a naturally more anxious dog, but she does very well once she warms up to someone. Her ideal home is a quiet home with an owner or family who can spend time with her. Nothing means more to her than being petted and given a treat. She is a more anxious dog when she leaves the home. She also would get along with older children Please reach out if you can provide a great retirement home for her. Thank you.
