Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Whiskey is a year and a half old female basset in need of a new home!  She is nervous with new people at first but once she gets used to you she is fine. It just seems as though she may not have been socialized very much, so a lot of experiences are new to her.     Whiskey does not seem to care at all about the other dogs, she doesn't even act like she knows they are there, lol! She came from a home with other dogs so she should be ok in a home with well mannered and non dominant dogs.   She is a little bit stubborn but I feel like that is pretty normal for a basset. Mostly, it's just when she doesn't want to do something, like go back inside after her walks, Whiskey will back up and fight the leash a bit. It's been pretty easy to redirect her though, we just take another small loop through the grass and come back to the door from a different angle.   Overall, Whiskey is a good girl She just needs someone that understands bassets and will get her some socialization so that life isn't so scary for her.  She is a very sweet girl with a few basset quirks an experienced basset owner will understand! Her adoption fee is $300 and she is currently in Columbus and will need a home with a fenced in yard!    Adoption Process: To meet one our dogs you must first fill out our application on our website ohiobassetrescue.com. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Meet Norman!   With his soulful eyes, velvety-soft fur, and irresistible Basset charm, Norman is impossible not to love. This spunky 7-year-old Basset Hound is proof that age is just a number—he's fit, enjoys long walks, walks beautifully on a leash, is completely housebroken, and never turns down a tasty treat!   Norman is a sweet, sensitive boy looking for a calm, patient family. Loud noises, sudden movements, and unfamiliar objects can startle him, so he'll thrive in a quiet home where he can continue building his confidence. Once he feels safe, he's a loyal companion who loves to snuggle and soak up affection.   In his foster home, Norman lives happily with three other Basset Hounds and two Persian cats. His Basset buddies have helped him rediscover his playful side, and he loves racing around the house with them. Watching him rediscover the joy of simply being a dog has been one of the greatest rewards of fostering him. He would do best with calm, playful dogs his own size, but isn't a fan of large dogs or overly dominant personalities.   If you're looking for a gentle, devoted companion with just the right amount of Basset goofiness, Norman is ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and plenty of cuddles. Could you be the forever family this sweet boy hasp been waiting for? Norman is being fostered in the Cincinnati area and his fee is $300. Home with a fenced in yard is preferred, however others will be considered as long as he is kept active! Please fill out the online application at ohiobassetrescue.com If you are interested!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 10, 2026, 6:37 pm

Story
Meet Emma & Murphy — A Love Story with Very Short Legs Some things are simply better together. Peanut butter and jelly. Movies and popcorn. And Emma and Murphy. ❤️ These two bonded Basset Hounds, estimated to be 3–5 years old, have already been through a heartbreaking change together. They once shared a home with their people and three other dog siblings, but when their owners passed away unexpectedly, their whole world changed. Through it all, Emma and Murphy have had one constant: each other. Now they’re looking for a forever home where they can stay side by side. And personality-wise? These two could not be more perfectly mismatched. Emma is the boss. She’s sassy, confident, and quite certain that whatever is happening, she should probably be in charge of it. Emma doesn’t believe in strangers—only friends she hasn’t met yet. She’s happy to collect attention, pets, and admirers wherever she goes. Murphy is her lovable, dopey sidekick. He’s playful, goofy, and ridiculously endearing. He can be a little nervous when meeting someone new, but give him a little time and reassurance and that timid boy quickly turns into a sweet, affectionate snuggle bug. Together, they’re a wonderful pair. Both love affection, snuggles, and pets, and they’ve already proven they know how to live in a home. One particularly great perk: they can be trusted loose in the house and left home alone for extended periods. They’ve already lost their home and their people. What they haven’t lost is each other. Emma and Murphy aren’t asking for much: a comfy place to land, plenty of hands for petting, and a family willing to make room for two long bodies, four floppy ears, eight short legs, and a whole lot of love. They came into foster care together. Now we’re determined to see them leave together. ❤️ Apply to adopt Emma & Murphy and give these two best friends the happy ending they deserve. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   August 16, 2026, 10:34 pm
