Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!I come from the south in a place where dogs are just dogs.  We weren't being treated very nicely so they came and got us thank goodness but then we were in a high kill shelter and that is scary too!!!  Lucky for us 2nd Chance came down to pick up some other lucky dogs and the staff asked if they would take me and Vivian and they said YES YIPEEEEE we were really excited so we hitched a ride to the North and now we are staying in this really nice foster home with a big fenced yard and they let us sleep on these things called 'furniture' and they give us good food and we get to do this thing called snuggling with them ahhhh life is sooooo much better!!!!If you would like to meet me or better yet me and Viv fill out an application and lets make a date to play :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 21, 2025, 12:30 pm

Story
NAME: Chickie BREED: Beagle Mix BIRTHDAY: 2012 WEIGHT: 35lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   Chickie came to us when her owners (thankfully) surrendered her to a VA shelter. They had been keeping her in a pen outside 24 hours a day, despite their claims that she has grass allergies. What really seemed to be happening to poor Chickie was a bad flea infestation, untreated, that left her with half of her hair missing. After months of treatment and medications, her skin is healthy but it appears her hair will never grow back. We give her Apoquel for itching but she is otherwise in good overall health.  &#226&#128&#139 Chickie has put her years of neglect behind her: she is happy in foster care and is a pretty easy girl. Although she is friendly and has never snapped or even growled at anyone, she is still a little head shy and would do best in a home without small children. She does very well with dogs of all sizes, but should be placed in a home without cats. What she really wants is a place where she can get a nice mix of her own space (with her favorite toy football to play with), and attention in the form of walks and snacks. Chickie is crate trained but will need a reminder course on house training. She would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs, sunbathe, and spend time with her forever family.October 28, 2024, 10:44 am

Story
Meet Kai! This sweet 9-year-old boy is ready to find his forever home. At a perfect 30 pounds, hes the ideal size for anyone looking for a companion whos not too big, not too small. Kai was surrendered when his mom moved into assisted living and couldnt take him along, but now hes hoping to find a new family who will love him like he deserves.Kai is extremely loyal and forms strong bonds with his people. His happy, affectionate personality shines when hes with those he trusts. He loves carrying his toys around and proudly showing them off, and when its time to play, his zoomies will definitely bring a smile to your face! Kai takes treats very gently, always polite and appreciative.Hes house-trained and easygoing, but he would do best in a home without children, as they tend to make him nervous. Kai can live with another dog as long as they respect his space and understand he enjoys having some room to himself. Hes more of a laid-back, independent guy, so a calm, low-pressure environment with an adult-only household would be ideal. If youre looking for a loyal, loving companion who will fill your home with joy (and maybe even a few zoomies!), Kai could be the perfect fit for you. Come meet this wonderful senior today and give him the second chance he deserves! If you would like to meet Kai, please complete an application on our website: www.crcpa.org
