Story
Ollie is a 7 year old beagle mix that was originally used for hunting. The young man who had him lost interest in hunting, so Ollie and his sisters lived in outside kennels for several years. No grass, plastic dog houses without straw for warmth in the winter. The young man left for college last August and no one else in the family was willing to feed them after he left. A neighbor starting looking to help get these dogs a better life, so they came to Animal Rescue Inc.Ollie had a really hard time adapting to living in a house. For the first week he paced and paced. He didn't know where to lay down or sleep. He was so skinny when we got him and had a starving dog mentality. He would climb up on the counters and eat anything, even packaging. Now his weight is perfect but he, like most beagles is highly food motivated, so very trainable.Ollie has gone from not being able to relax in the house to being a total couch potato. He snuggles up next to his foster in the evening and falls asleep next to her on the sofa. He gets along with everyone, adults, children, cats and dogs of all sizes.

Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
She is full of love and craves attention(all the time), but she is also an escape artist and my mom is too old and I'm too fat to catch her. She is 2 years old and needs a yard with a fence and multiple walks a day to shed energy. A physically active owner is ideal. Has had training but requires more especially when it comes to coming when called. She has a high prey drive and should not be with small dogs and cats. Not aggressive with children but she does get excited and is very strong and may knock them over or scratch them on accident. She does not like being left behind. She's fine if you go to the store, but if you are a few feet outside the house where she can't follow and she sees you, she will cry and bark until you go back to her. She has a very loud bark both low and high pitched. She loves to play and always carries a toy with her just to have. When we return from somewhere we always see her run into the house and come back with a toy to give us. Please consider adopting.

Story
NAME: Chickie BREED: Beagle Mix BIRTHDAY: 2012 WEIGHT: 35lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   Chickie came to us when her owners (thankfully) surrendered her to a VA shelter. They had been keeping her in a pen outside 24 hours a day, despite their claims that she has grass allergies. What really seemed to be happening to poor Chickie was a bad flea infestation, untreated, that left her with half of her hair missing. After months of treatment and medications, her skin is healthy but it appears her hair will never grow back. We give her Apoquel for itching but she is otherwise in good overall health.  &#226&#128&#139 Chickie has put her years of neglect behind her: she is happy in foster care and is a pretty easy girl. Although she is friendly and has never snapped or even growled at anyone, she is still a little head shy and would do best in a home without small children. She does very well with dogs of all sizes, but should be placed in a home without cats. What she really wants is a place where she can get a nice mix of her own space (with her favorite toy football to play with), and attention in the form of walks and snacks. Chickie is crate trained but will need a reminder course on house training. She would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs, sunbathe, and spend time with her forever family.April 9, 2024, 6:07 pm
