Story
Meet Dolly! This sweet little beagle has been stealing hearts since her arrival to Miri's Haven. Dolly’s life was turned upside down when her beloved owner passed away and she was left in the home with 25 other animals. Sadly, it was several weeks before help arrived, and she's still quietly carrying the trauma of that time. But even with all she’s been through, Dolly’s gentle, soulful spirit is already shining through. Dolly is super smart and very into food, so she adores enrichment puzzles filled with snacks. She loves being around her foster family, including snuggling in their laps and sleeping in their bed. She enjoys exploring outdoors but is not leash-trained, so her forever family will need to have a home with a fenced-in yard. She loves curling up on cozy comforters and pillows, and sitting on items of furniture when she needs a better view of the goings on. Being the smart girl that she is, Dolly is a great communicator. She'll let you know if you're running late with her meal, wants you to let her inside, or needs a lift onto the bed. She's also great at telling you when she's uncomfortable (for example, she made it known that she doesn't like being alone in a dark room). Dolly gets the zoomies from time to time and it's so much fun to watch her fly around the house. She's great with other dogs and loves to play with them, so we're hoping to find her a home with at least one canine sibling. Dolly is deaf and has some trouble seeing, but she gets around well. She has some stiffness in her hind end and back legs, so she has a little trouble going up stairs and needs to be carried down them. Dolly is brave, sweet, and so deserving of the soft, loving retirement every senior dog should have. She is ready for love, stability, and a comfy couch to call her own - could it be yours? Dolly is approximately 10 years old and 15 lbs. Fostered in Manassas, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Waylon was found on a rural backroad.  He’s so gentle and great with everyone. He’s good with dogs, cats and kids. We think he is a Basset Hound mix because he has a long body like a Basset Hound. Waylon is a gentle giant with a heart of gold. While he’s on the larger side, he has a calm and easygoing demeanor that makes him a joy to be around.Waylon is great on a leash, rides well in the car, and enjoys simple pleasures like lounging outside or gazing out the window. He’s not overly energetic, which makes him an ideal companion for someone looking for a laid-back buddy to share life with. Originally from Mississippi, Waylon spent the last three years living outdoors at a no-kill shelter. Now, he’s ready for a cozy home where he can finally relax and be part of a loving family. If you're looking for a loyal, mellow, and affectionate friend, Waylon might just be your perfect match. Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org June 16, 2025, 8:20 pm

Story
Stumpy-Bassett Hound/Labrador Retriever (Bassador) male, ~ 1-2 yr. (March 2024) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for application to adopt. Stumpy is living in a very rural area with a family that asked for help in finding him a new home. He's used to living a family life with children and loves the children. He would be best as an only dog. He's a mixed dog but a popular mix, called a Bassador. The Bassador temperament can vary a lot depending on whether they take after their Lab or Basset Hound parent more. Generally, they are sociable and loving. We are fortunate to know how Stumpy has done, living with a family. Bassadors love attention, especially from their favorite person. If you want a dog with a very unique look who’s loyal to a fault, the Bassador could be the dog for you! Stumpy's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication.

To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event he will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events* Please give a warm welcome to Sam! Sam was found as a stray and luckily made his way into the Lost Dog family. He is truly gorgeous with his curled little tail and freckles all over his body. Allow me to introduce him! At first, Sam can be a little uncertain, but that’s just him settling in. Once he comes out of his shell, he is such a friendly little guy! He loves people and other dogs. Sam does great on walks too! He really tries to follow his nose, so there can be some pulling. But overall, he does great in a majority of environments. Sam is something we like to call a velcro dog: he always wants to be close to you! Cuddles, pets, curling up on the couch, Sam loves him some quality time. Sam is such a sweet dog and so deserving of a loving home! Come on down and meet him today, and you can make his dreams come true.
