Me and my sisters (there are four of us - Opal, Olivia, Olive, and Oakley) are satos from Puerto Rico. (Yes, that means our best guess for breed is just that - a guess - because we're elongated with short legs!) Snuggles and cuddles! World exploration! I promise to give you so many adoring gazes and kisses, and so much love and loyalty for all my days. What do you say? Do I get to grow up with you? What My Foster Says About Me: Oakley knows who she is and is confident that you will love getting to know her! She loves other dogs and people!! She is so playful and curious. She loves toys and is a fast eater! She is the sweetest, goofiest girl who got the memo that hound dogs are supposed to sleep in weird positions and has taken that very seriously. She is going to bring so much joy to her forever family! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
AdoptAPet Inquires are not an application and will be ignored. Peanut is a 2 year old Basset Hound who amazes everyone she meets with her surprising athleticism. This girl is definitely not a couch potato. She can jump impressively high and will happily play for hours on end. She loves every new human and dog she meets and is always ready to make new friends. Her absolute favorite activity is playing bitey face and wrestling with her dog buddies, and she could do it all day if given the chance. She can get vocal when excited/playing. She enjoys sitting by the window and supervising the comings and goings of everything and everyone in her site. She may bark at anyone who dares to walk by. Peanut loves going for car rides, walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and is a very smart girl who figures things out quickly, sometimes a little too quickly, as she has been known to open things and help herself. If she can reach it, it’s hers to investigate and possibly chew if she decides it’s interesting enough. She is very food motivated and will try to sample everyone else’s meals, so she’ll need a family willing to continue working on boundaries and manners. She also has no concept of personal space and believes she should be in her dog friends’ faces trying to play most of the time. Because she’s so athletic and playful, Peanut needs to be adopted by an active home with another playful dog. She enjoys tug and wrestling with other dogs, though she’s not big on playing with toys by herself and will need active engagement to stimulate her and get her energy out. She does have a prey drive and will chase squirrels. She is not a fan of cats. Peanut would do great in a home that will keep her active, continue her training, and give her lots of love and attention. Adoption radius 60 miles from zip code 20906. Application here: https://tinyurl.com/TLCdogapp We do not promote any of our dogs as house trained or allergy friendly.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire athttps://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:  Jameson  (JAM0226OWSMN) Estimated Breed: Basset Hound Mix Approximate Age:  8 yearsApproximate Weight: 55 lbsCurrently Living at:  FosterAdoption Fee:  $300DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Meet Jameson — an 8-year-young senior sweetheart who has officially mastered the fine art of relaxation.      Jameson is the definition of a couch potato with a heart of gold. He’s not here for chaos, drama, or cardio… but he is here for cozy naps, quiet companionship, and being your loyal shadow around the house. If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who’s happiest lounging beside you, Jameson is ready to apply for the position of full-time best friend. This sweet guy is crate trained, house trained, and also semi-stimulus collar trained. He’s lived the good life before and is looking for a calm, loving home to enjoy his golden years.     Jameson can get along with other dogs, though he hasn’t been introduced to new dog friends in a while. He’d likely do best with slow, respectful introductions. He’s not the type to demand the dog park lifestyle, but he’d be willing to go if it meant spending time with his person.     Jameson does have a sensitive side — he has a low tolerance for loud noises and fast movements, such as remote-control toys or running children. He also can be wary around unfamiliar men, like handymen or first-time visitors, so he’ll need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and love. Jameson would thrive in a quiet adult home (or a home with older, respectful kids) where life is peaceful and predictable.     If you’re someone with a soft spot for seniors and a heart big enough to offer comfort, stability, and love, Jameson will repay you with unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship. Apply today and don't let this one get away! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Meet Shaggy, one of the Scooby Doo pups! Velma and her three puppies - Fred, Shaggy, and Scrappy Doo - were found abandoned on Kelly Mountain in Logan County, WV, by a group of hunters, far from any nearby homes. When the hunters stopped, the dogs immediately approached them, friendly and social, which leads us to believe they once had a home and were intentionally left behind. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan stepped in and took the little family into her home until rescue help could be secured. Because of her compassion and quick action, Velma and her pups are now safe and settling into their local foster homes. Shaggy is being fostered with his brother, Scrappy, in a busy household with his foster mom and dad, two kids, two adult dogs, and even regular toddler visitors. It’s an ideal socialization environment for a young puppy. As a result, he is a happy, confident, well-adjusted boy who loves to be held and wants to be part of the action. Shaggy is crate-trained, sleeps through the night without accidents, and is making steady progress with his house manners. He has officially graduated to “big-boy” leash walks and is learning not to pull. He improves every day with practice. Much of Shaggy's early puppy training was started by his fabulous foster mom, Diana, who shared this update: Shaggy, the largest puppy of the litter, is very social and loves to play. This sweet boy will do best in an active home with a pup playmate to keep him entertained. He's been around large dogs and young kids, too, and does well with all. Shaggy is more confident than his brothers and tends to take the lead on walks. He’s shown great improvement on leash and recently started going potty on leash. He even sat by the door and barked to let his foster dad know he needed to go out this week. Smart boy! If you have a puppy-friendly schedule and are looking for a well-started, well-socialized pup…Apply today!  Open to foster-to-adopt for the right family fit. BREED ESTIMATE: Beagle/Hound Mix (Mutt Mix with gorgeous markings!) GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  22-23 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 18 weeks (expected to be medium-sized dogs, ~ 40 lbs) COAT TYPE: Medium coat ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 OTHER INFO: Current on shots, microchipped, neutered LOCATION:  Vienna, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Story
Meet Petal This sweet pup was found as a very pregnant stray and taken in by a Good Samaritan named Te in rural South Carolina, someone we have worked with before. Te not only brought Petal to safety, but gave her a secure place to deliver her five puppies and cared for them for six weeks while they nursed. We are surrounded by difficult stories every day, so we want to recognize kind people like Te who go out of their way to help a dog in need. After her puppies were weaned, Petal came into our rescue while her puppies were taken in by a partner rescue and headed north to find their homes. From the moment we met her, it was clear that Petal simply wants to love and be loved. It is hard to imagine this sweet young dog, still an adolescent herself, having to fend for survival for both herself and her puppies. Thankfully, she made her way to rescue, and now it is her turn to find the forever home she deserves. Petal is being fostered with a mom, dad, and three resident dogs. She was a little nervous during her first few days and needs a bit of time to adjust to new environments. After that initial period, she really opened up and showed her true personality as a sweet, snuggly, and playful pup. She gets along well with the other dogs and has become especially close with the smallest dog in the home, though she enjoys playing with all of them. Petal would thrive in a home with another social, confident dog, but she could also do well as an only dog with the right people. She is very people-focused and a true velcro dog who loves to follow her humans from room to room. Her foster family has been taking her on regular outings, and she gains confidence with each new experience. She has met new people and dogs and warms up quickly after a brief initial shyness. She has a moderate energy level and enjoys zoomies in the yard and playing chase, but settles nicely in the home. Petal is crate trained, has great house manners, and has learned to go potty outside and on leash walks. She can be a bit timid with loud noises or sudden activity, so she is probably not an ideal city dog. A quieter home environment would suit her best. Petal is a gentle, loving girl who just needs a little time to feel comfortable. She has been great with older kids and has done well with all the dogs she has met. She has never shown any aggression, just a bit of shyness at first. Sweet Petal is ready to blossom in a loving home and will make a wonderful, devoted companion. Apply today!
