Story
BEAU IS A COURTESY POST - IF INTERESTED, EMAIL INFO@PETEY&FURENDS.ORG Name: Beau Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 10 months old (as of 1/16) Best Guess for Breed: Basset Mix Weight: About 30 lbs (as of 1/16) Lives With: Dogs and cats…and does great with all people! Housebroken? He’s working on his potty training and making great progress! Story: Beau is a happy little guy found on the streets of DC. After a week, no owners have responded, and so his finder/foster is looking for a good home. Beau is friendly with dogs and cats, and people. His foster doesn’t have children but he has been calm and happy around them on walks. He is absolutely delightful - he loves going on walks and playing with toys, people, and his resident dog brother. He is a smart cookie and picks up on potty training and basic commands super fast. Beau could go to a home with or without other pets. He’s an ideal age for continued socializing and adapting to probably any environment. He currently lives in a city apartment and is content, though he of course is happy trotting around outside in fields. Beau is a healthy and sturdy dog; basset caretakers do have to take special considerations to protect their backs including being careful about how rough and with whom they play, and using stairs instead of jumping off furniture. He is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. If you think that Beau might be your perfect match, please email info@peteyandfurends.org.January 20, 2026, 5:58 pm

Story
Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   PJ is a 2-year-old Beagle with a heart as big as his floppy ears. He’s intelligent, quiet, cuddly, and friendly with everybody — dogs, cats, and humans of all ages…. He is very sweet and trusting, assumes every passing human is going to be his next best friend.  He is a fantastic leash walker, eager to great friends and neighbors and sniff all the things.  His favorite hobbies are burrowing in blankets, taking naps, dinnertime and occasionally zooming around the house like he just remembered he’s a dog.  He doesn’t bark (why bark when everybody is a friend?)   There’s no drama with PJ - just naps, love, and goofy blanket antics.  He has been recovering from heartworms in our foster home and we have had to keep him quiet and without much playtime, but we think that his favorite way to play is a simply running around a secure fenced in yard with his family and tug of war with his blankets or working on a dog treat puzzle.  He hasn’t shown interest in typical dog toys. PJ would be perfect for a multi-pet home (but maybe skip the toddlers unless you’re okay with him “helping” finish their snacks.)  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org.
