BRATWURST NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name: Bratwurst         Best Guess for Breed: Basset hound and terrier mix  Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of September 2025         SEX: Female   Approximate Weight:  28 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs and kids! Bratwurst would do best in a home without cats.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Check out this video of Bratwurst: https://youtube.com/shorts/4-q1HiNIjig.   Bratwurst is Looking For:   Her forever family! This absurdly cute low-low rider is in her prime as a young adult dog and is eager to explore the world by her humans' side - and to get all those snuggles and cuddles after a long day together. She promises adoring gazes (with or without head tilt), happy little tail wags, and loyal companionship for all her days in exchange. What do you say? Is she the one you see way down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  Bratwurst is the sweetest, most loving, most snuggly girl! Don't let her size fool you, she is an energetic little lady who loves to explore, go on walks, and is doing well learning her leash skills! She has done well with meeting new people, including kids. She already knows 'sit' and has done well with housetraining. She does like the crate but much prefers sleeping in the bed. Bratwurst is super smart and would love a family who can commit to keeping her busy with training. She loves her people and would love to join your family for lots of adventures and cuddles! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Name: Peaches        Best Guess for Breed:   Basset hound and terrier mix  Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of November 2025      SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Peaches is Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own but firmly believes everything will be just peachy and she will soon have her own humans again. She's seeking long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures that come with being a well-loved family pet. In exchange, she promises so many adoring gazes and tail wags, and all the love and loyalty in her stubby legged little body.   What do you say? Is this utterly adorable girl the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me:   Peaches is a sweet, loving, affectionate pup with a big personality packed into her little legs! She’s playful, goofy, and full of energy—always ready to make you smile. Her favorite hobbies include getting belly rubs, chasing squeaky toys, playing tug-of-war, and fetching balls like a pro.   If you’ve been staring at your computer too long, Peaches will happily remind you to take a break, will get on your lap and shower you with kisses and cuddles! After a fun day of play and yummy kibble, she loves nothing more than curling up in your lap or snuggling beside you on the couch for a well-deserved nap.   Peaches is great with other dogs and loves the dog park, don’t mind her little legs, she is fast and keeps up with any dog. She’s crate-trained, sleeps through the night, and greets you in the morning with tail wags, adoring gazes, and plenty of love.  House training? She’s doing fantastic!    On walks, Peaches is a good leash partner. She may get excited and pull occasionally, but most of the time she keeps a loose leash and checks in with you like the loyal friend she is.   Peaches is looking for an active, loving home where she can play hard and snuggle harder. If you’re ready for endless fun, laughter, and unconditional love, Peaches is your girl!    Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Friendly  Meet Cool Snoop Dogg, the most easygoing one-year-old Bassett/Beagle mix you could ever hope to meet. He’s currently around 30 pounds and will likely fill out in the 35–38 pound range once he reaches a healthy weight. One glance at his soft, soulful eyes is enough to understand just how deeply this sweet boy connects with his people. Everything about him—from his long Bassett body to his gorgeous droopy ears to that one charming knobby knee—makes him an irresistibly endearing companion. Snoop Dogg has the temperament of a dog twice his age. Instead of the constant curiosity you might expect from a Beagle, he carries himself with a calm, unhurried Bassett spirit. He enjoys exploring a little, but he’s not the type to keep his nose to the ground nonstop. He’s also not a big barker, only joining in when the other dogs decide there’s something worth discussing. On a leash he already does very well, and with just a little practice he’ll be close to perfect. What makes him truly special is his gentle, affectionate nature. If you sit on the ground, he immediately settles in close, wrapping you in a soft, sweet hug and offering the most tender kisses. For such a young dog, his kindness is remarkable. His foster family says he radiates peace, love, and pure goodness in everything he does. Snoop Dogg is wonderfully well-mannered, housebroken, and crate trained. He learned the doggy door in a single day and rides calmly in the car without stress or hesitation. Whether he’s with children, other dogs, cats, a busy family, an empty nest couple, or a single person, he adapts seamlessly. This boy truly fits anywhere, bringing joy, simplicity, and easy companionship into every space he enters. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle soul who just wants to love and be loved, Cool Snoop Dogg might be your perfect match.
