If you are interested in SKIPPY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. SKIPPY is one of the most gentle souls in all the universe. He has deep brown heart melting eyes that always seem to be in awe of the big bright beautiful world around him. A couple of his favorite things are cuddle time with his foster family and sunning in the backyard. SKIPPY currently lives in a foster home with many dogs. He is never pushy and has zero desire to be the boss. SKIPPY’s kind, unobtrusive nature will make it easy for him to get along with all resident animals in his forever home. However, SKIPPY would also be perfectly fine as the only pup in the house, so he’s an easy addition to the family. If you are lucky enough to have sweet SKIPPY take a piece of your heart into his paw, he will hold on to it forever! His $540 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area For an adoption application on SKIPPY click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! COZY is a fantastic dog who is being cared for by one of our trusted rescue partners. COZY is NOT a Woof River dog. To apply for COZY please download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to John at jhayesp@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. Meet Cozy! 🐾 True to her name, Cozy is the queen of comfort and a master at settling right in. This easygoing girl lives for the simple joys in life—lounging in the sun, car rides with the windows down, and soaking up belly rubs like they’re her favorite treat (they might be!). Cozy is a mellow, low-energy companion who’s perfectly content hanging out at home. But don’t let her laid-back vibe fool you—when it’s mealtime, she’ll let you know with a happy bay and bark, just to make sure you didn’t forget! She loves the company of other dogs and plays beautifully with her canine pals. Cozy is also crate-trained and does well when her foster dad is away. She’s still learning the ropes of leash walking, so a little patience and guidance will go a long way. If you’re looking for a sweet, sun-loving, snuggle-ready pup who brings calm and joy to every day, Cozy might just be your perfect match. ❤️ To see even more pictures COZY copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/06c7op1a877zsbexiebqy/APX5izSggI18u7BiPWff1xE?rlkey=04fo75w3ae4nfqv8v1aaqihmh&st=95g457ay&dl=0 COZY is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. Story
Our Lovable Zena found herself homeless after her owners had a baby and could not handle dog care with a new child. Zena was surrendered directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she did not have to suffer through a shelter process. Now four years old, Zena is ready to begin her second act in life.  Zena appears shy at first, and had not benefited from much socializing or training In her former home. Some pups serve as placeholders in families until the human baby shows up, and then are cast off to fend for themselves in the rescue process. This sad situation left Zena lacking social skills. Zena needs an extremely dog savvy adopter willing to go slow with her and troubleshoot some stranger danger and touch sensitivity at the vet. Her best fit will be an active adult home, with folks who have rescue dog experience, and who understand that a period of decompression is needed as Zena transitions to a new home.  Zena has done extremely well with her training, and seems to enjoy the process. She now knows most basic commands. We recommend ongoing Obedience work to help her adopter bond, and also to provide mental and physical stimulation. Besides training exercises, Zena needs a few brisk leash walks daily to work out her yayas.  We suspected Zena to be a mix of Beagle and Pug, but when curiosity demanded that we run her DNA, we discovered that somebody had crossed her great grandparents with Rottweiler. Zena is a stout, medium sized dog at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds and still be within normal weight range. The Rottie DNA no doubt is the source of her sass! Zena's house manners are good. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health. Zena has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Zena, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Our Jade has had some extremely bum luck. She was dumped into a rural Animal Control shelter without much owner explanation. She seemed extremely depressed in the shelter, but she has come through all the chaos like a queen.  Jade has adjusted quickly to rescue life and became one of our most beloved fosters. She is a proper Beagle busybody with her nose in everybody's affairs. About one and a half years old, the fabulous Miss Jade now is ready for her second act!  Jade is a sweet girl, who can be shy at first meeting, but warms up into a total lovebug. She would thrive in an active adult home, with folks who can commit to her training program. She could join a home with older kids, who were taught to be respectful of animals, and she has lived harmoniously with other dogs.  Jade is in excellent health and is at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She is a true Beagle beauty with her breed's classic good locks. She has the Scent Hound tendency to "sniff the roses," and likes to go slow on her daily walks.  Jade has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Jade, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Our Nala is a fun-loving girl who is always ready to play. She joined us a few weeks ago from a rural Noth Carolina Shelter where her owner left her to perish. Just five months old, Nala had become a rescue statistic.  Despite the chaotic shelter environment, Nala seemed to hold her own and avoid trouble. Shelter staff loved her, and we have to agree!  Nala is a medium sized dog at 22 pounds. We expect her to gain a few pounds as she matures. She has a graceful, leggy stance, and her short, flat coat has a beautiful tan and brown pattern.  Nala appears to be a double dose of Hound, most likely Beagle and Foxhound. There must be a smidge of something else in her DNA that put some starch in her ears. As a hound mix, Nala needs an active lifestyle and chance to explore nature each day.  Exercise and scent training are helpful in managing Hounds. Nala is an energetic girl with an outgoing, friendly personality. She greets everyone with great affection. She would make a great walking or hiking partner. Nala needs at least two daily leash walks, in addition to focused playtime each day.  Obedience training is essential to meeting the needs of an older puppy. Nala already knows some basic obedience commands and is on the way to earning her Canine Good Citizenship Certification. Adopters should be able to take her the rest of the way with ease.  Nala is best suited to an active home, with a dog savvy folks who have the time to raise a puppy. She is an active girl, who loves to be front and center with her folks rather than relegated to a backyard. Nala could easily join a multi-dog home. Nala’s house manners are improving greatly, and now, she is mostly house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as she transitions to a new home. She is in excellent health, and fully vaccinated. Her full profile, with more pictures, is available on our Rescue website. If you are interested in Nala, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 860-908-9738 for an adoption application.
