Story
Our Lovable Zena found herself homeless after her owners had a baby and could not handle dog care with a new child. Zena was surrendered directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she did not have to suffer through a shelter process. Now four years old, Zena is ready to begin her second act in life.  Zena appears shy at first, and had not benefited from much socializing or training In her former home. Some pups serve as placeholders in families until the human baby shows up, and then are cast off to fend for themselves in the rescue process. This sad situation left Zena lacking social skills. Zena needs an extremely dog savvy adopter willing to go slow with her and troubleshoot some stranger danger and touch sensitivity at the vet. Her best fit will be an active adult home, with folks who have rescue dog experience, and who understand that a period of decompression is needed as Zena transitions to a new home.  Zena has done extremely well with her training, and seems to enjoy the process. She now knows most basic commands. We recommend ongoing Obedience work to help her adopter bond, and also to provide mental and physical stimulation. Besides training exercises, Zena needs a few brisk leash walks daily to work out her yayas.  We suspected Zena to be a mix of Beagle and Pug, but when curiosity demanded that we run her DNA, we discovered that somebody had crossed her great grandparents with Rottweiler. Zena is a stout, medium sized dog at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds and still be within normal weight range. The Rottie DNA no doubt is the source of her sass! Zena's house manners are good. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health. Zena has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Zena, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Sofia 💕 Beautiful Sofia has been such a devoted mom to her puppies, and now it’s her turn to shine. At about 25 lbs, she’s a petite girl with short little legs and a heart full of love. Sofia came from a home that took in strays and tried to help, but became overwhelmed when the puppies kept arriving. She has remained gentle, patient, and kind. Her foster describes her as sweet, submissive, and calm — a loving mama who only wants to feel safe and cherished. She’s done an incredible job raising her babies, and now it’s her turn to be the one getting all the love she’s given so freely. Apply for Sofia at allpawsondeck.org Must be 21+ to adopt $400 Adoption Fee; $100 spay/neuter deposit Located in Griswold, CT To adopt you must - Fill out an application at allpawsondeck.org - all your pets must be spayed / neutered and up to date - We can’t adopt to MA residents due to State Laws. Story
Meet Coop, a teenage beagle/dachshund mix with lots of personality and confidence in a little low-rider body.  Coop is playful, super friendly and totally unfazed by the fact all his friends are bigger than him. He loves to zoom around the yard and have all his doggy friends chase him.  Coop is likely full grown at 8-9 months old and approximately 30 lbs. He has a beagle body and demeanor, and a dachshund face, but he may also have other breeds in the mix.  Coop was a stray who spent almost two months at the shelter before his foster mom brought him home. While we don’t know his past, Coop acts as if nothing bad has ever happened to him. He’s a confident little fella who greets every dog and human he meets with lots of love, including kids. He’s super affectionate and loves to cuddle and give kisses.  Coop is a very well-adjusted boy and would be an easy addition to almost any home. He’s potty trained, crate trained and walks great on a leash. He would do well in an apartment with an active owner who wants to walk him and take him to run around at the dog park. Or he would do great paired with another playful dog at a home with a big fenced-in yard. Coop is energetic, but he is happy to chill after his morning walk or playtime. He’s a really good boy who could easily be taken along for all of life’s adventures! Story
Meet Josie: an extraordinary little survivor with a LOT of love to give. Our staff and volunteer team are OBSESSED with this girl. Josie is an 8 year old, female, Beagle/Pug mix with a calm, gentle presence. She’s ready to begin her next chapter is looking for a foster or forever home. Josie’s past has been incredibly hard. She came from a rough situation and narrowly escaped euthanasia at a high kill shelter — rescued just HOURS before her time ran out. Even after all she’s endured, she remains remarkably sweet and affectionate. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love to have a friendly canine companion. She does well in the car and loves anytime spent out of a cage. Josie is looking for a quiet home where she can truly exhale, settle in, and rediscover what it feels like to be safe. She is up to date on vaccinations and has been spayed. ADOPTION INFORMATION HOW TO GO ABOUT ADOPTING: 1. Come in during adoption hours to apply and fill out an application completely. Story
Boone is a once in a lifetime dog! He's like the coolest little guy with intelligent eyes, a bit of swagger, and charm!   Found in a hoarding case involving 36 other dogs, he has really seen it all. He's adjusted well to living in a foster home. Kind of like a duck to water. Boone enjoys long lazy day naps, car rides, and snacky-snacks! Speaking of snacks, he is very gentle taking a treat, but needs to be fed separately from other dogs. We imagine he probably had to compete for food in his former environment.   He play well with other dogs and gets along great with cats. He does well with older children. Boone is crate trained, but he has a tendency to mark with other male dogs are in the house, so we use a belly band. He is heartworm negative and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. He has been neutered and has a microchip. he has great manners and is beyond the chewing stage. Currently he is being fostered in Arkansas, but transport is available to New England. His adoption fee is $350, which includes transportation ##2559643##

Story
Benny is a fun, energetic, and affectionate dog who absolutely loves to play and gets along well with other dogs. He has a big heart and shows endless love and loyalty to everyone around him. I rescued Benny from a kill shelter in Alabama in 2022, and he’s been a wonderful companion ever since. He’s now 3 years old and full of life. Unfortunately, due to increasing expenses, I’m looking to find him a new home where he’ll continue to receive the love, attention, and care he deserves. Benny would thrive with someone who enjoys being active and wants a loving, playful dog by their side.
