Story
Sweet Willy came from a home where he and 9 other Beagles were chained to garbage cans their entire lives. Taken off the chains only when the owner hunted with them. Willy had the worst situation of them all, his garbage can was so small that her couldn't even stand up in it! His back was so sore when he arrived that it took him a week or so before he could comfortably run and play with the gang. He was chained up like that for 10 YEARS! Willy is the sweetest boy you will ever meet and just needs a home where he can live out his days with lots of love and good care. He is very healthy, heart worm negative, crate trained microchipped and ready for his forever home. Could that be you? Please give him a chance! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $250

Story
Hi I’m Hunter! (Although my foster parents call me Hunter Bean). I’m a Beagle/Boston Terrier mix. I love going on long walks with my humans and my dog foster sister. I’m very loyal and will follow you wherever you go. I don’t mind car rides especially if pup cups are involved. The best is when we go hiking. My foster mom says I’m the best kind of hiking dog because I stay on the trail using my nose to point us in the right direction. I’m very affectionate. To relax I like to cuddle up next to my humans or my cat foster bro. (We also bond by having staring contests and coming up with joint tactics to get treats.) You should also know that I’m a big fan of pillows of all shapes and sizes and will nuzzle between them for my naps. But don’t be fooled by my few gray hairs or love for naps, I have energy to spare! I enjoy a good bath and like wearing little hoodies to stay warm at all times. I can be vocal, not afraid to let you know when the mailman is here in a true beagle fashion. My favorite snack is oranges and whatever you’re eating right now! I was surrendered due to my previous human’s financial constraints. In terms of my forever move, I’m looking for a family who understands that I have some separation anxiety. When left alone I get vocal but give you the biggest happiest greeting when you return. I hope we can make lots of memories together and I promise to always be at your side. Cherry Eye Note: You might notice that I have a cherry eye, which is a common condition in my breed. Don't worry, it's not contagious, and it doesn't slow me down one bit! The vet says it's easily manageable, and it doesn't affect my overall health or happiness. I just wanted to mention it so you're fully informed about my adorable quirk! Hunter is house-trained, with a few breaks a day. He’s great with children and other pets, and is working on some basic commands. He’s fully vetted and up to date on his medications. He weighs about 30-32 lbs. Hunter is being fostered in Jersey City and is available locally or out of state if you can meet half way! To request an app, please email info@joyrides.org

Story
Beagle mixCharlie was born December 8, 2021 to a Cocker Spaniel mom and Beagle dad. He is completely crate trained, and working on house training since he has been in his foster mom’s home. Charlie walks great on a leash, but like any typical Beagle, his nose never leaves the ground. He is extremely sweet natured, and plays well with his four legged foster siblings. If given the chance, Charlie will chase cats. Please send us your phone number if you would like to hear more about Charlie. April 30, 2024, 5:56 pm

Story
Our Lovable Zena found herself homeless after her owners had a baby and could not handle dog care with a new child. Zena was surrendered directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she did not have to suffer through a shelter process. Now four years old, Zena is ready to begin her second act in life.  Zena appears shy at first, and had not benefited from much socializing or training In her former home. Some pups serve as placeholders in families until the human baby shows up, and then are cast off to fend for themselves in the rescue process. This sad situation left Zena lacking social skills. Zena needs an extremely dog savvy adopter willing to go slow with her and troubleshoot some stranger danger and touch sensitivity at the vet. Her best fit will be an active adult home, with folks who have rescue dog experience, and who understand that a period of decompression is needed as Zena transitions to a new home.  Zena has done extremely well with her training, and seems to enjoy the process. She now knows most basic commands. We recommend ongoing Obedience work to help her adopter bond, and also to provide mental and physical stimulation. Besides training exercises, Zena needs a few brisk leash walks daily to work out her yayas.  We suspected Zena to be a mix of Beagle and Pug, but when curiosity demanded that we run her DNA, we discovered that somebody had crossed her great grandparents with Rottweiler. Zena is a stout, medium sized dog at a lean weight of 30 pounds. She could easily gain 5 pounds and still be within normal weight range. The Rottie DNA no doubt is the source of her sass! Zena's house manners are good. She is house trained and crate trained, although adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health. Zena has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Zena, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
