Orange Crush (named after a Jelly Bean flavor) is a fun puppy learning puppy basic training (sit, down, stay, leash walk, potty training) in the Paws Behind Bars - Luther Luckett Correctional Complex Dog Training Program! He has a smoother coat, beautiful marble eyes, a lovely temperament and the bravery to try new things like horseback ride on our super friendly guy, Kipper! He is around seven months of age, has that reddish Terrier nose and earset. We believe his size will be similar to his mother's, around 35 pounds when grown. He has a DNA test and was a Heinz 57 breed mix of many breeds; among some of those listed, Pug, Beagle, Boxer, American Pit Bull Terrier, German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Rat Terrier and American Eskimo. Kenai has spent the first six months of his life in conditions no precious puppy should ever have to experience. He was dumped at a literal garbage dump, and since then, he’s been waiting at the Humane Society of Oldham County for someone to choose him. Kenai has watched so many other dogs leave to become “the one” for somebody. He’s still waiting for his turn. Kenai is a Beagle/Shepherd mix, based on his looks, size, and temperament. Of course, we can’t know his true breed mix without a DNA test, so if you really want to know what makes this handsome boy the way he is, we highly recommend adopting him AND getting him tested! 😉 At 25.8 pounds, Kenai is still growing and will likely mature somewhere around 40–50 pounds. Kenai isn’t necessarily a dog who loves every dog he meets, but when he finds a dog he likes, he REALLY likes them. A best friend to Kenai is a best friend for life! ❤️ We also believe he could do well with a confident, dog-savvy cat. He's also crate-trained AND housetrained! And while Kenai may have had a rough beginning, he certainly isn’t your typical puppy. Foster and volunteer Kathleen has taken Kenai out on many adventures, and she always comes back talking about just how special he is. Better yet? She never has a complaint about his behavior. Kenai even visited a care facility, where he found a resident whose lap he apparently decided was exactly where he belonged. He was so happy there that he didn’t want to leave! Sir Tan got to spend TWO WEEKS in a foster home… and he did FANTASTIC! ❤️ This lil' guy has absolutely been killing it with his behavior at our adoption events, and now we know he can rock the home life, too! Sir Tan is fully grown at just under 40 pounds. His little Beagle body is no match for his big, bobbly, square Pit Bull head, but honestly, we think that just makes him extra cute.😂 He has kind eyes, a smiley face, and one of our volunteers even described his rear end as a "bubble butt.” We’ll let you decide for yourself. 😉 And his personality? Pretty much perfect. 🐾 Housetrained 🐾 Crate-trained 🐾 Friendly with other dogs 🐾 Gentle with children 🐾 LOVES cats 🐾 Super friendly 🐾 Super smart 🐾 Super trainable So… why is he still here? We have no idea. Sir Tan originally came to us after being hit by a car. Thankfully, he has healed beautifully, put on some much-needed weight, and his road-rash scars are almost completely cleared up. We are SO proud of how far he has come and incredibly grateful that his accident didn’t leave him with anything worse. Now, Sir Tan is ready for the part of his story we’ve all been waiting for: a forever home. He’s the kind of dog who is going to make an amazing companion wherever he lands. I’m afraid to take him to a shelter but I can’t keep him.Pringle is a 3yr old loving goofball that wants to be part of whatever you are doing.He is unbothered by fireworks.He does well with our cat but forgets that he isn't cat sized so he might intimidate timid or shy cats.He does bark at other dogs when on leash but is getting better. He has gotten along with well socialized and behaved dogs off leash.Might not be a good match with little kids as he can become a 30lb bulldozer when he gets excited.Pringle does have a bite history and that is why we are rehoming. The 2 bite events (Dec 2025 & Jan 2026) were not aggressive. They seemed to be defensive and he was pretty upset after the event too. My son is autistic and can’t read non-verbal cues and doesn’t understand personal space. He likely overstepped a boundary. I can give more details on request, since I have a limited space here.Pringle has had a few seizures. no medication just an awareness to keep him safe. Last seizure 4/22/26

Look no further than Kodiak! ❤️ This handsome guy has adorable markings, one-of-a-kind ears, and a VERY big personality packed into his 25-pound body. Kodiak is 6 months old, and we consider him a Beagle/Shepherd mix based on his appearance, size, and temperament. We expect him to top out around 40–50 pounds when fully grown. He does well with *most* other dogs, but we still consider Kodiak dog selective because every now and then, he meets a dog he just doesn’t quite click with. When he finds a dog he likes, though, he’s all about making friends! And then there are those ears. 🥹 Kodiak’s ears are unusually short and chunky due to the trauma he experienced earlier in life. They are purely cosmetic and do not cause him any pain, but they certainly make him extra special and absolutely adorable. There’s nobody else quite like Kodiak! Kodiak loves his people, enjoys his dog friends, and could potentially live with the right cat. More than anything, though, he’d love to trade his kennel for a cozy bed, a warm home, and someone to call his own. This puppy has already mastered the things so many adopters hope for: housetraining, crate training, and being a wonderful companion. Now he just needs someone to give him the chance he’s been waiting for.
