Kenai has spent the first six months of his life in conditions no precious puppy should ever have to experience. He was dumped at a literal garbage dump, and since then, he’s been waiting at the Humane Society of Oldham County for someone to choose him. Kenai has watched so many other dogs leave to become “the one” for somebody. He’s still waiting for his turn. Kenai is a Beagle/Shepherd mix, based on his looks, size, and temperament. Of course, we can’t know his true breed mix without a DNA test, so if you really want to know what makes this handsome boy the way he is, we highly recommend adopting him AND getting him tested! 😉 At 25.8 pounds, Kenai is still growing and will likely mature somewhere around 40–50 pounds. Kenai isn’t necessarily a dog who loves every dog he meets, but when he finds a dog he likes, he REALLY likes them. A best friend to Kenai is a best friend for life! ❤️ We also believe he could do well with a confident, dog-savvy cat. He's also crate-trained AND housetrained! And while Kenai may have had a rough beginning, he certainly isn’t your typical puppy. Foster and volunteer Kathleen has taken Kenai out on many adventures, and she always comes back talking about just how special he is. Better yet? She never has a complaint about his behavior. Kenai even visited a care facility, where he found a resident whose lap he apparently decided was exactly where he belonged. He was so happy there that he didn’t want to leave! If you’ve been looking for “the one,” your special dog, or that puppy who feels a little different from the rest, Kenai might just be waiting for you. I’m afraid to take him to a shelter but I can’t keep him.Pringle is a 4yr old loving goofball that wants to be part of whatever you are doing.He is unbothered by fireworks.He does well with our cat but forgets that he isn't cat sized so he might intimidate timid or shy cats.He does bark at other dogs when on leash but is getting better. He has gotten along with well socialized and behaved dogs off leash.Might not be a good match with little kids as he can become a 30lb bulldozer when he gets excited.Pringle does have a bite history and that is why we are rehoming. The 2 bite events (Dec 2025 & Jan 2026) were not aggressive. They seemed to be defensive and he was pretty upset after the event too. My son is autistic and can’t read non-verbal cues and doesn’t understand personal space. He likely overstepped a boundary. I can give more details on request, since I have a limited space here.Pringle has had a few seizures. no medication just an awareness to keep him safe. Last seizure 4/22/26

Orange Crush (named after a Jelly Bean flavor) is a fun puppy learning puppy basic training (sit, down, stay, leash walk, potty training) in the Paws Behind Bars - Luther Luckett Correctional Complex Dog Training Program! He has a smoother coat, beautiful marble eyes, a lovely temperament and the bravery to try new things like horseback ride on our super friendly guy, Kipper! He is around seven months of age, has that reddish Terrier nose and earset. We believe his size will be similar to his mother's, around 35 pounds when grown. He has a DNA test and was a Heinz 57 breed mix of many breeds; among some of those listed, Pug, Beagle, Boxer, American Pit Bull Terrier, German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, Rat Terrier and American Eskimo. Story
Rosie is a VERY cute and sweet girl! She’s generally a happy girl, loves to cuddle, and is wonderful with kids; very gentle and patient. She has never shown any food aggression. The areas we’re still working on are her reactivity to other dogs (mostly barking), although she has been making progress. She’s also a bit of an attention hog and loves being close to her people. She’s about 1.5 years old, spayed, and up to date on all vaccinations. I’ll also provide six months of flea/tick prevention, along with her collars, supplies, and everything else we have for her. I am rehoming due to being a single mom with young kids and not having the capacity to give her what she needs. I think Rosie would be best to someone with time and space to give practice training, attention, and daily long walks.
