Age: 1.5 years old
Current Weight: 30 lbs
Expected Adult Size: Small
Breed: Beagle
Energy Level: Medium to medium high
Dog Friendly: Yes, Sandy requires another dog in the home. She would do best with a confident, playful, but easy going dog.

Potty Trained: Yes, but will occasionally have an accident if left for several hours.
Ideal Home/Adopter: Sandy will need a family who is home a lot. She is happiest being close to her people! Sandy has separation anxiety, which she is on both a daily medication and another medication to be used as needed. Sandy is looking for a fellow homebody!
Likes: Sandy loves being with her people. She loves her dog siblings and enjoys being with them as much as possible. Sandy lives for affection and praise. She loves to cuddle and be close. She will happily rest her head on your lap, chest, or even head. Sandy loves everyone and is happy to meet new people. Sandy is food motivated and even loves her vegetables! Another one of Sandy’s favorite activities is smelling and investigating everything, she is a beagle after all!
Dislikes: Being alone. Sandy does not like being left for more than a few hours at a time.
Additional Considerations: Sandy has made an enormous amount of progress with her anxiety, but it is still a work in progress. She will require patient adopters, who can continue to work on this with her.
Sandy enjoys dogs and lives in a foster home with five other dogs. She loves playing and snuggling with her dog siblings. Despite liking other dogs, Sandy does not like meeting other dogs while she is leashed. Due to Sandy's preference of not meeting other dogs while leashed, she will not be a good candidate to bring along to public outings with other dogs.
What makes this dog special: Sandy came to Rescuedohio after living outside on a chain. Shortly after coming to the rescue it was determined that she was pregnant. Sandy gave birth to her beautiful babies last fall. While Sandy was still lactating, the rescue was contacted about a litter of puppies who did not have a mom and were in need of a surrogate.Sandy heard the puppies crying and immediately took them in. Sandy nursed the puppies until they were old enough to eat puppy food. She continued to mother them and care for them until they were adopted. Sandy truly has a heart of gold!
In addition to being a sweetheart, Sandy is also very quirky, silly and goofy! She has her foster parents laughing daily.
Sandy's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Sandy, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.
