I’m a sweet, curious girl who has been getting braver by the day. I can be a little cautious with new people while I decide whether you’re trustworthy, but once you’re in my circle, my silly side comes out! I love having my big velvety ears rubbed, curling up right beside my person for a nap, and being wherever my favorite humans are. One of my absolute favorite things? Other dogs! I love having canine friends and would do incredibly well with another dog who can help me continue building confidence. Rowdy dogs don’t bother me much either — I’m usually just happy to be included in the fun. I’m crate trained, so very close to being potty trained, and an excellent car rider. I’m also pretty easygoing when it comes to exercise. Give me a few morning zoomies to let my beagle nose investigate ALL the smells and I’ll be more than ready for a nap. Speaking of that nose… I’m an enthusiastic explorer! Open trash cans may occasionally contain treasures I simply cannot resist investigating. I’m not much of a barker unless something startles me, and I’m currently working with a trainer to continue building my confidence around unfamiliar people. I’m doing really well and everyone is so proud of how far I’ve come. I haven’t lived with cats or children yet. Because sudden movements and loud noises can still startle me, I’d be happiest in a home without young children. Cats are unknown. I did test positive for Lyme disease, but I’m currently healthy, have shown no symptoms, and my recent kidney testing was normal. My rescue will be happy to discuss my medical history with my adopter. My perfect family will be patient, loving, and willing to let me build trust at my own pace. In return, you’ll get a sweet little shadow, a champion napper, an adventurous nose, some spectacular ears, and one seriously lovable girl. Cannon came to DASH from rural Kentucky with 8 other dogs when their owner was going to surrender them to a high-kill shelter. Cannon is now currently in the DASH Prison Program where his handler states he is playful, zany and a little ornery, and loves to cuddle and steal the covers at night. He is working on his basic commands and has mastered a few already. He is also working on his crate training, potty training and walking on a leash, as all of those things were foreign to him. He loves people and other dogs. He has not been kid or cat tested, so proper introductions would be needed for either. This guy does bark at strangers, but his handler is working with him on that and he loves to try and steal stuff to chew on, so his new family will need to be vigilant for sure! Miss Baylen came to DASH with several other dogs where the home they were in were sending them to a high kill shelter in KY. This little girl is just the sweetest most loving dog you can imagine. All she wants is to be loved on and be the center of attention. She is young and due to the situation she came from, she is working on crate training, going potty outside and learning what a leash is. Her new family will need to continue working with her on these things. She is crated during the day while her foster mom is at work, as she will be nosey and get into things and tear up things in typical puppy fashion. She gets an activity ball and mat while in her crate along with a chew bone to keep her happy. She loves the other dogs in her foster home and loves being out in the fenced in back yard doing zoomies from one end to the other and getting the other younger dogs in on the fun! This girl is also very intelligent and training her should be a breeze once she gets all of her excess energy out. She also loves to chill on a lap or the couch and just being with her person. She has not been kid or cat tested, but feel she would be fine with kids with proper introductions. She is ready to find her forever home where she can continue to blossom into a wonderful dog!
