No Physical Fence: Physical fence required, any height Crate Trained: Skittles is crated at night, for meals and for an hour or two during the day Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home / Adopter: Skittles would love a family with another dog and/or children 8 and older who can help her explore and burn some energy. The more people and dogs to play with, the better! She is active, loves to run, jump and chase a ball. Skittles would make a wonderful running and hiking partner. Likes: Play, fetch a ball, explore, snuggles and nap. Repeat. Preferably several times a day. Skittles loves balls and fluffy toys. Dislikes: Skittles whines some if left alone and very much prefers to be with her humans or another dog, or at least be able to see them. Additional considerations: Skittles will make a great family dog and/or companion for another dog in the home. What makes this dog special? Skittles is estimated to be 2 years old however, she is very much like a puppy. Skittles is that friend who is the life of the party and never wants to miss meeting or spending time with everyone at the party! Skittles can scale a set of stairs two at a time and will likely be a kangaroo in her next life as jumping is in her blood. She's goofy, playful, snuggly and has never met a human or dog she doesn't like. Snuggle time is a must and she will gently nudge her way under your arm for maximum snuggles. Skittle's adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##2110530##

Dolly is a real doll baby she is so sweet. Likes: Dolly loves to go on adventure walks, eat all the treats, play with all the toys and give lots of kisses. Dolly even got her foster to let her sleep in her bed (don’t tell the other 3 dogs). Dislikes: Dolly dislikes the crate. In her previous home she was in it a lot. She's been a good girl when left out in the house and would prefer a crate free forever home where she can roam. Additional Considerations:  Dolly can still get excited in the morning and that’s when she thinks she’s an alligator. Story
A little shy, very sweet, certainly a stinker, Lucy has blossomed into a fantastic young lady. Still a bit of the backwards little pup that was born under an abandoned house, Lucy may warm up faster to doggie friends than people friends, but she does great with everyone and everything. Lucy will do better with some four-legged companionship in her adoptive home, and she loves fun toys and things she can get into. She’s an amazing dog and needs an amazing family to be a part of! A physically fenced yard is required. Lucy is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio. Story
Frances arrived at CHA Animal Shelter with another Beagle after both dogs were found as strays in rural Ohio. As she arrived at the shelter with little history, not a lot is known about what experiences she had with people and new things in the past. Frances is a very shy and nervous dog. She would benefit from a quiet home with patient owners who can use positive reinforcement to help her gain confidence and become more comfortable with people and new things. A home with more mature children who can read the dog's signals and treat the dog gently would be best. Frances would do best in a home with another dog as they help her to be more confident. Frances has spent some time in foster. According to the foster, she gets along great with other dogs, is not bothered by cats, and loves people. She had positive experiences with older children (13 yrs+) in her foster home. Once she gets to know you, she loves to sit on your lap and cuddle but will run if you make a sudden move or if she hears an unexpected noise. Frances likes to have a "safe space" to run to when she gets frightened and in the foster's home this was their bed or her dog bed in their living room. Though her foster had a fenced-in yard, Frances would not always come to the foster in the yard so her foster regularly took her out on leash. Frances was reported to be mostly housebroken though would sometimes use pee pads that the foster uses for her other dog. Frances does appear to have separation anxiety and becomes stressed when left alone so she must be crated when unsupervised. Though she may whine for a few seconds after being placed in the crate, she does settle well after a short period. Frances is currently on a longterm anti-anxiety medication called fluoxetine and it is possible she may require this medication lifelong or for an extended period while she adjusts to a new home. Frances is a sweet girl who is ready to find an adoptive home where she can feel safe and loved. She can be met during CHA Animal Shelter's open hours and if you are otherwise interested in any more information, please email Adopt@chaanimalshelter.org.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
ABOUT ME... My name is Princess! I was surrendered by my family after they could no longer afford to care for me. I was had a lot of other doggies to play with and a small child who I was wonderful with. I was used to a large yard with little-to-no interactions with people outside of my home, due to the rural area I lived in. My foster mom lived in a busier area which has been difficult, but I love to look out the window and see what's happening! I have found that I love treats, peanut butter, toys that I can pull the fluff out of and of course I love my humans and siblings. I really like peace and quiet and hanging out on the couch or on the bed to get some Z's in, or full movie marathon weekends. I am one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet, I am gentle and shy but loving when I am comfortable. I am a 30 LB lap dog who is a big baby in almost every way. I am curious and timid but irresistibly cute! I am one of the best cuddlers and love kisses. I AM GREAT WITH... Humans, dogs, and children. I can handle a crate when needed, will not have any accidents in the crate, and I like eating dinner in there too. I am great at sharing toys and rough housing with my foster family. I also am a great eater and might do well with a slow feeder. I AM STILL WORKING ON... Walking on a leash, strange noises, and new people are still things I'm getting used to. I love the idea of a walk and get so excited to put my harness on, but I get frightened when there are other people around on the walk. I get potty shy in my new space and have accidents when I am scared. Cats are a foreign object for me, when I saw one at the vet, I had an accident because I was scared, but I think I would be kind. I AM NOT GOOD WITH... Not good with sudden movements & unfamiliar events... (ex; new people or dogs coming into the backyard, walking in busy areas, loud sudden noises). I REQUIRE... A quiet neighborhood with a nice yard to run around in AND a house with no shared walls. A family who allows me on furniture because I love the couch and the bed!! Someone with the time to teach me that going potty is safe and walking can be fun. I love people I just get scared initially, but always accepting of love and pets from everyone I meet! **All animals in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (age 1 & up), given preventatives, and provided with initial vaccinations AT MINIMUM. Booster shots are included in the adoption fee and will be performed at our clinic, or the adopter can use their own vet at their expense. Adopters must reside within 2 hours of Columbus, OH. No transportation assistance is available.**
