Story
Meet Copper and Lady, a pair of 9-month-old Beagle siblings who have been through more than any puppies their age ever should, but their sweet spirits are still shining. These two were surrendered after their owner became “tired” of the mother dog having puppies. Copper spent his young life chained outside, while Lady lived inside to keep the two from having puppies of their own. No puppy deserves that kind of start, but thankfully, their days of being separated and overlooked are now behind them.Copper is a gentle, lovable boy who is thrilled to finally be free to run, play, and be part of a family. Lady is a sweet, affectionate girl who just wants to be close to people and enjoy the warm, safe home she deserves. Despite everything, they are both loving, friendly, and eager for a fresh start.Their story is an important reminder of why spaying and neutering pets matters so much. The cycle stops here: their mother is finally being spayed, and Copper and Lady are safe, healthy, spayed/neutered and ready for their new chapters. Now these two happy-nosed, tail-wagging beagle pups are looking for forever homes where they will be loved, cared for, and never have to worry again. Copper and Lady are ready to bring joy, laughter, and so much love into their new families’ lives.

Story
NAME: Chickie BREED: Beagle Mix BIRTHDAY: 2012 WEIGHT: 35lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   Chickie came to us when her owners (thankfully) surrendered her to a VA shelter. They had been keeping her in a pen outside 24 hours a day, despite their claims that she has grass allergies. What really seemed to be happening to poor Chickie was a bad flea infestation, untreated, that left her with half of her hair missing. After months of treatment and medications, her skin is healthy but it appears her hair will never grow back. We give her Apoquel for itching but she is otherwise in good overall health.  &#226&#128&#139 Chickie has put her years of neglect behind her: she is happy in foster care and is a pretty easy girl. Although she is friendly and has never snapped or even growled at anyone, she is still a little head shy and would do best in a home without small children. She does very well with dogs of all sizes, but should be placed in a home without cats. What she really wants is a place where she can get a nice mix of her own space (with her favorite toy football to play with), and attention in the form of walks and snacks. Chickie is crate trained but will need a reminder course on house training. She would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs, sunbathe, and spend time with her forever family.October 28, 2024, 10:44 am

Story
Olaf is pure beagle, born on 15 May 2025 with blue tick and black/brown colors and a small patch of white on his head. He is extremely loving and active. He loves people and other animals. He responds to some commands but not reliably toilet trained. He needs to be walked sometimes once or twice at night, and is good about letting you know when he needs it. He'll lick you to wake you! During the day, he gets sidetracked with play and forgets why he was let out. So he still has frequent accidents. He never gets the idea of piddle pads. He has been de-wormed and had initial shots. He's due for 6 mo shots. He is teething and can shred almost anything... shoes, laces, anything leather or plastic, cords etc. So he needs a fairly sparse environment. Otherwise, he can drive you mad if not broke! ;) I paid his breeder $350 on 14 August, so I haven't had him long. I live in a small very overcrowded house which is too small for Olaf. So I'm looking for a better home for him.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Bella is about 9 years old, but certainly does not act her age! She has been in a loving home for almost 8 years, and is now in need of a home in which the owner is home more often. Bella has been through extensive training, and knows many commands including sit, stay, down, wait, touch, come, place, and crate.  She is house-trained, crate trained, and great on a leash. She is up to date on vetting and presently has a clean bill of health. She is great with people and children. She has only been around a baby once, and seemed reserved and a bit scared of her. The reason Bella was returned to our rescue is because of her anxiety when left alone for long periods of time. Several medications have been tried, but she may still bark when left alone in her crate. Her foster has one medication which does help her for 2 to 3 hours before she gets anxious. Given her owner moved into a townhouse, and works full time, this will not work with neighbors potentially hearing her barking.  Presently, Bella stays with one foster, and another one helps if the present foster is gone for a long day and evening. If you are interested in either being her long term foster or adopter, the foster that has her is willing to provide you with support or free boarding for anytime it is needed. This foster lives in Eastern Baltimore County area and says she is just the perfect loving companion for someone who is home most of the time. Story
Ovi is a sweet 7-year-old Beagle with a heart as big as his floppy ears! This handsome guy can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a few minutes (and maybe a gentle scratch behind the ears), and he’ll be your best friend in no time. Once he’s comfortable, Ovi loves attention and will proudly offer you his paw for some extra love.Don’t let his age fool you—Ovi still has plenty of pep in his step and is always ready for a new adventure. He was recently surrendered through no fault of his own, after a family member developed allergies. Ovi has lived peacefully with cats before, but he prefers to be the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the affection himself. If you are interested in meeting Ovi, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12:30p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12:30p & 2p-6:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p. Adoption application can be filled out and approved during your meet-and-greet. If you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption!
