Story
NAME: Chickie BREED: Beagle Mix BIRTHDAY: 2012 WEIGHT: 35lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   Chickie came to us when her owners (thankfully) surrendered her to a VA shelter. They had been keeping her in a pen outside 24 hours a day, despite their claims that she has grass allergies. What really seemed to be happening to poor Chickie was a bad flea infestation, untreated, that left her with half of her hair missing. After months of treatment and medications, her skin is healthy but it appears her hair will never grow back. We give her Apoquel for itching but she is otherwise in good overall health.   Chickie has put her years of neglect behind her: she is happy in foster care and is a pretty easy girl. Although she is friendly and has never snapped or even growled at anyone, she is still a little head shy and would do best in a home without small children. She does very well with dogs of all sizes, but should be placed in a home without cats. What she really wants is a place where she can get a nice mix of her own space (with her favorite toy football to play with), and attention in the form of walks and snacks. Chickie is crate trained but will need a reminder course on house training. She would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs, sunbathe, and spend time with her forever family.April 27, 2026, 12:07 am

Story
Izzy - spayed female, 2 years, 20 lbs. Meet Izzy! Little Izzy came to us when her owner unfortunately passed away. Now, Izzy is ready to find her forever home! Izzy can be a bit shy when meeting new people, so she will need someone who is patient. Because with a lot of love, this girl is super cuddly! Izzy is energetic! She loves to play, getting the zoomies and running in circles is what she does best! Izzy has lived with other dogs, but she can be selective when meeting new dogs. We have not seen her around cats. Due to her being more timid, a home with older kids would be best for Izzy! If Izzy is the one for you, please fill out an application for her today! Izzy is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Bella is about 10 years old, but certainly does not act her age! She has been in a loving home for almost 8 years, and is now in need of a home in which the owner is home more often. Bella has been through extensive training, and knows many commands including sit, stay, down, wait, touch, come, place, and crate.  She is house-trained, crate trained, and great on a leash. She is up to date on vetting and presently has a clean bill of health. She is great with people and children. She has only been around a baby once, and seemed reserved and a bit scared of her. The reason Bella was returned to our rescue is because of her anxiety when left alone for long periods of time. Several medications have been tried, but she may still bark when left alone in her crate. Her foster has one medication which does help her for 2 to 3 hours before she gets anxious. Given her owner moved into a townhouse, and works full time, this will not work with neighbors potentially hearing her barking.  Presently, Bella stays with one foster, and another one helps if the present foster is gone for a long day and evening. If you are interested in either being her long term foster or adopter, the foster that has her is willing to provide you with support or free boarding for anytime it is needed. This foster lives in Eastern Baltimore County area and says she is just the perfect loving companion for someone who is home most of the time. It was the only shelter they could find from the elements and it was not much. When all seemed lost, they were found by a kind person, who brought them into rescue, where they discovered wonderful, plentiful food for their little tummies and soft beds. It was warm, too, and people there petted them, a first in their young lives, feeling gentle, human touches. They are thriving now and putting the bad old days behind them and have learned to be happy puppies looking for homes where they can play in the yard and look forward to a life of love. They are so good at puppy things, like giving kisses, snuggling in a blanket to sleep, and waking up to play again. Do you have puppy toys? They will love them! They are ready to learn from you what you want and will try with everything they've got to make you happy. Beagles are like that. They are mixed with something that is giving them silky, longer hair. You are welcome to guess, but it is definitely a beautiful combo! Makes them wonderful to pet! Come find out for yourselves. And get your puppy playtime in! Story
Blooper is a typical beagle and loves to smell all the smells! When he gets his mind on a smell his ears turn off. He loves going to the play yard to take in all the smells and loves going on walks, although the walks are at his nose to the ground pace! Blooper did well with the cat (he was more interested in the snacks nearby). He does know sit as long as you have a treat! Blooper did test positive for Lyme and Anaplasmosis but is currently being treated as he was showing symptoms. Blooper would love to find his loving forever home soon! He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm/lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter.Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License#2090To Adopt: https://cvas-pets.org/

ANDI IS IN HER FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO PA ONCE ADOPTED!    Andi is a possible beagle/dalmation mix that weighs 28 lbs. She is the perfect small/medium size. Her fur and ears are oh-so-soft. Andi is house trained, leash trained, crate trained. She loves the other dogs in her foster home, but her FAVE is her foster mom. Yep, Andi loves her people. She will sit by your feet to chill and channel surf. Andi sleeps next to her foster mom’s bed at night. We estimate her age to be 7 to 9 years old. Andi enjoys going on walks and car rides. Andi’s manners are impeccable-she loves all she meets. If your desire is a calm, engaged, loving pet, Andi is your girl. She is fully vetted. Vetting includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all dog vaccinations. Her adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to PA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Andi up north to her new family.
