Story
Lucy has spent the last several months being everyone else’s hero. Now it’s her turn to be someone’s baby.  Meet Lucy, the beautiful mama of our Charlie Brown Litter! At just 1 year old and 23 pounds, this adorable Beagle mix has already done the hard work of raising her puppies with love and patience. Now that her babies are growing up, Lucy is ready to leave motherhood behind and start the next chapter of her life—being spoiled by a family of her very own. Lucy is the total package. She’s house trained, crate trained, dog and kid friendly, and one of the quietest Beagles you’ll ever meet. In fact, she barely barks, making her a rare gem for anyone who loves the Beagle personality without the famous Beagle soundtrack! Her favorite place is wherever you are, especially if it involves curling up beside you for snuggles after a long day. She will be spayed before adoption, is current on vaccines, and is ready to trade puppy duty for couch cuddles, neighborhood walks, and endless love. (Cats are unknown.) Lucy has spent her young life putting her puppies first. It’s finally Lucy season, and she’s hoping her forever family is out there waiting to give her the happy ending she deserves.  Fostered in Harrisburg, PA Apply today and let Lucy show you that the best chapters often begin after motherhood.  LIC #9736   We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Learn more about adopting from us or volunteering for us at www.pack9rescue.org or check us out on Facebook for more information and a complete list of dogs available for adoption.           https://www.facebook.com/PaCaringForK9s/ See upcoming events below where PA Caring for K9’s will be with some of our adoptable dogs! Story
If you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate, water-loving companion who has been doing some serious self-improvement, Holmes is your guy! This 3-year-old, 63-lb blend of Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, and Beagle is thriving in his foster home and proving just how much progress a dog can make with the right love and routine. Crate Superstar: Forget his past escape-artist reputation! Now, you just say "crate" and he walks right on in. He has had zero destructive behavior, no barking, and no breakout attempts. He is officially an excellent crate dog! Water Baby: We just discovered that Holmes absolutely loves to play and hang out in the water! If you have a pool or love the beach, you've found your new swimming buddy. Personal Space? What's That?: Holmes believes your space is his space. He is a total lean-in lover who wants nothing more than to be doted on and get endless belly rubs. Gentle Soul: He takes treats with the utmost gentleness. 🏡 Holmes' Ideal Home Kids & Dogs: He is great with kids and does wonderful with other dogs—as long as they match his vibe and aren't hyper or right in his face. Cats: A strict NO CATS for this boy. That Beagle nose loves a chase! Leash Life: He’s still working on his leash manners (again, blame that Beagle nose for finding every scent!), but he is steadily improving. Continued Success: Holmes has been thriving with professional guidance from Canine Services By Devin. His future family should be dedicated to keeping up his positive routine! 📋 Health & Logistics Age/Weight: 3 years old, 63 lbs Medical: Neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Location: Fostered in Hanover, PA. Rescue Info: PA LIC #17216 https://forms.gle/LDjduj2zTk7vvmHU7

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Bella is about 10 years old, but certainly does not act her age! She has been in a loving home for almost 8 years, and is now in need of a home in which the owner is home more often. Bella has been through extensive training, and knows many commands including sit, stay, down, wait, touch, come, place, and crate.  She is house-trained, crate trained, and great on a leash. She is up to date on vetting and presently has a clean bill of health. She is great with people and children. She has only been around a baby once, and seemed reserved and a bit scared of her. The reason Bella was returned to our rescue is because of her anxiety when left alone for long periods of time. Several medications have been tried, but she may still bark when left alone in her crate. Her foster has one medication which does help her for 2 to 3 hours before she gets anxious. Given her owner moved into a townhouse, and works full time, this will not work with neighbors potentially hearing her barking.  Presently, Bella stays with one foster, and another one helps if the present foster is gone for a long day and evening. If you are interested in either being her long term foster or adopter, the foster that has her is willing to provide you with support or free boarding for anytime it is needed. This foster lives in Eastern Baltimore County area and says she is just the perfect loving companion for someone who is home most of the time. Story
Katie was adopted from the shelter several years ago and recently returned when her owner moved into a nursing home. Katie is 9 years old and weighs in at 71 pounds. She is currently on a weight loss program to help her get back to a healthier weight. She is a sweet girl that does enjoy going on her walks and per her previous owner loves to watch tv with you! Katie would do best in an adult only home. Per her previous owner she has done well with other dogs and cats. Katie would love a second chance at finding a loving forever home soon! She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/lyme tested (negative), and dewormed.Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License #2090To adopt: https://cvas-pets.org/

Story
Arwen is a sweet older, beagle girl that arrived at the shelter as a stray. Upon her arrival it was noted that she had a large growth towards her tail. That growth was removed and sent out for testing and came back as a benign lipoma (or fatty mass). She also tested positive for Lyme and has been treated for it. She is now ready to find her loving forever home! She has done well with the cats here and loves pretty much everyone she meets! She is a beagle and true to her breed is an exceptional sniffer and can be quiet vocal at times. She loves cuddling up to you and enjoys going on slow walks where she can take in all the good smells! Arwen has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since her arrival at the shelter.Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License #2090To adopt: https://cvas-pets.org/
