Story
Posting as a courtesy for my mom’s dog, Maggie. Looking for a compassionate retirement home for a senior, 10yr old female Beagle-mix to live out her golden years. She is incredibly friendly, sweet, and still full of energy (see the video below for an example of how much she loves the snow). She gets along great with children, cats, and dogs! Her favorite toys are a soft stuffed animal and her favorite game is tag. If you are looking for a sweet girl who loves walks/playtime but will still be your couch potato at the end of the day, Maggie is your fit! We want to be transparent with her health and her age, she is no longer reliably house-trained. She would do best with a patient adopter who has experience with senior dogs and incontinence. This is a very difficult choice for us to make, but Maggie requires a more consistent schedule than what we can provide. Maggie is spayed and a healthy dog. Located in York, PA.

Story
Hi, I'm Smore, a 4-year-old chocolate Beagle with a sweet disposition and a nose for adventure! 🐕 I'm friendly with other dogs, so I'd love a home where I can have canine companions to play with. I'm not yet spayed, but that's something your vet can help with as part of settling into your family. With my compact size and lovable nature, I'm ready to bring joy and beagle charm into your life. Come meet me and let's sniff out a wonderful future together! 🐾 This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Start your engines! Hot Wheels is looking for his forever family! This handsome youngster came to us as a stray and has two speeds: fast and faster. He's still learning the rules of the road, so he'll need a family committed to providing structure, training, and lots of positive outlets for his energy. Put in the miles with this fun-loving guy, and you'll have a best friend who's worth every lap. Start your engines, Hot Wheels is looking for his forever family! Story
Current Location: Woodbridge, VA Meet Minnie Minnie is a one year old, 27 pound Terrier mix who is still unfolding, and what is emerging with every passing day is something genuinely sweet and worth waiting for. She is loving and affectionate with the people she trusts and has a playful side that comes out beautifully around other dogs and with toys when she feels comfortable and safe. She is still finding her footing in the wider world though, and she is honest about it in the most endearing way. New people, and particularly new men, can cause her to hang back and observe from a safe distance rather than rushing in. She is not aggressive in the slightest, just careful, watching quietly and making sure things feel right before she decides to engage. She is the kind of girl who needs to write her own timeline and she deserves a home that respects that. She is a work in progress with house training and is getting better every day with patience and consistency. She is not a fan of going into her crate but once she is settled in she does just fine, which tells you that her hesitations are mostly about the unknown and that once something becomes familiar she handles it with grace. Minnie needs a calm and patient adopter who understands that some of the best things take a little time. She is not the finished product yet. She is the in between, the becoming, the slow and steady reveal of a dog who is going to be absolutely wonderful when she fully arrives. The person who gives her that space is going to feel very lucky indeed.

Story
Meet Nyla, a sweet 5-year-old Beagle who loves people, other animals, and plenty of attention. She enjoys squeaky toys, giving kisses, and being part of the action.Nyla is also a smart girl who knows several commands and tricks, including sit, wait, come, paw, lay down, and even spinning on her hind legs.Nyla requires daily eye drops, which she tolerates well. Like many curious Beagles, she may get into trash if it’s not secured, so a home with covered bins or limited access is best. She has occasional accidents, likely because she isn’t able to get outside as often as she needs, and would do great with a consistent potty routine.Due to an out-of-state move, we’re looking for a loving home where Nyla can get the care and attention she deserves. She’s a very affectionate dog with lots of love to give.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Popper is an adorable Beagle with a nose that never quits and a heart full of joy. Like a true beagle, he loves snoofing around the field, following exciting scents wherever they lead, and zooming around with happy, floppy-eared enthusiasm. Running and playing are some of his favorite pastimes, especially when he has toys to toss or another dog to chase around. His foster family says he’s the bestest boy, and it’s easy to see why — Popper is ready to bring love, fun, and endless tail wags to his forever home. REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another fur buddy Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
