Story
Buster is a lovable boy who first came to us as a stray and was later adopted but unfortunately returned when his family could no longer afford his medical care. After further evaluation and observation, it was discovered that Buster has herniated discs and may require lifelong medication to help keep him comfortable. Because of this condition, his activity should be monitored, and he will need a home that understands he cannot participate in overly strenuous activities that could flare up his condition. Despite that, Buster doesn’t let anything slow him down. He’s a happy, energetic guy who loves being around people and is ready to find a family to call his own. Since arriving back at the shelter, he has really come out of his shell and continues to show us what a wonderful companion he’ll be. Buster is full of personality, affection, and resilience, and he’s ready to bring joy to a lucky home. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Adoption Fee Covered + Free Training! Thanks to a generous supporter, this pet's adoption fee is fully covered — and OPH is including six virtual training sessions with a certified trainer in the first 60 days to help you start off strong together! Meet Nora – The Pocket-Sized Cuddlebug with a Gentle Spirit Currently fostered in Silver Spring, MD With her beautiful chocolate and white coat, long silky ears, and soft eyes that speak volumes, Nora is the very picture of understated elegance. But don’t let her quiet arrival fool you - this sweet, shy girl is on a journey of transformation, and with the right person by her side, she’s bound to bloom. Nora is wary of men so would flourish in an ALL-FEMALE household. Personality & Energy - Timid but loving – Nora is quite shy at first, as well as cautious around new situations and strangers. Once she warms up - she bonds very quickly, shows how big her heart is, and follows you everywhere! - Calm demeanor – She prefers short gentle activity or lounging close to her person. - Affectionate and clingy – She bonds deeply and wants nothing more than to be by your side (or on your lap if you let her!). Home Life & Compatibility - House-trained – Nora is doing great with regularly scheduled potty breaks and has a natural preference to potty outside. She will need continued training, she is very treat-motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement. She is eager to please her people! - Crate-trained... sort of – Nora tolerates the crate but would prefer not to be left alone. She settles much better when she’s near her people. At first, she welcomes the crate as her safe place, but as she becomes more acclimated to her new home, the less she wants to be crated. - Lap guardian – She may growl softly if another dog tries to interrupt her snuggle time. She’s not aggressive, just gently possessive. - Dogs – Nora enjoys the company of other dogs of all sizes with a similar demeanor. She occasionally runs zoomies but spends most of her time lounging by her humans. - Cats and kids – Unknown, but Nora would likely do best in an easygoing, quieter home with adults. Training & Growth - Learning Off, Stay, No, and responding well. Nora gently jumps on her people for attention. - Wants to please and will thrive with calm guidance and positive reinforcement. Very treat-motivated! - Still discovering toys and play - her inner puppy came out a few weeks into her foster home. Ideal Home Nora dreams of a peaceful life where she can tag along with her person, lounge in sunspots, and be the loyal little shadow she was born to be. Transitions can be a scary time, and she will need a patient family with a calm household who will give her time to feel safe and come out of her shell. She would not do well in an apartment or urban setting, and she would benefit from a home with a secure fence. She would also benefit from someone who is home more often than not, as she prefers not to be alone, but mostly she just wants someone patient and gentle who will let her unfold at her own pace. Nora is the kind of dog who shows devotion in the purest way — by never leaving your side. Whether walking from room to room or settling down to rest, she follows faithfully, a constant shadow of love and loyalty. Nora is looking for her forever family! Is that with you? Click "apply for adoption" to get your family started! Included Veterinary Care: - Up to date on vaccinations for her age - Spayed - Microchipped - Heartworm preventative - Flea and tick preventative - Worm/parasite treatments

Bubba is a 1 year old Beagle mix. He and his siblings were born in rescue in 2025. Bubba is a loving and energetic boy who loves to be with his people and included in all adventures. He has done well with children and other dogs. He is working on house training, but still has accidents on occasion due to excitement. He loves to go for walks and sniff everything in his path. He is also working on leash manners (pulling), but with lots of practice he should improve in no time. Unlike most beagles, he is not overly vocal. It's time for this sweet boy to find his forever home full of snuggles and attention!

Story
Hi, I’m Angel! I’m a gentle senior girl with wonderful manners and a heart full of love for everyone I meet. I enjoy short walks, cozy naps on the couch, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time close to my people—I’m truly a snuggle bug at heart! Even at 14, I still get the occasional zoomies and enjoy a toy now and then, but my favorite pastime is simply relaxing by your side. I do best with smaller meals throughout the day and appreciate frequent potty breaks while I settle into a routine. With my low energy and sweet nature, I’d love a calm home where someone is around often to keep me company and enjoy the simple things in life together. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #:3537

Story
Hi, I’m Meghan! I’m a sweet, playful girl who loves walks, playing in the yard, and soaking up all the pets and cuddles I can get. I have a medium energy level and enjoy staying active, whether that’s playing fetch with my rope toy or going for car rides and adventures—I even did great on outings to places like Lowe’s and Tractor Supply! I can be a little excited at first and am still working on things like potty cues and recall, but I’m eager to learn and just want to make my people happy. With a little time, attention, and a family who will enjoy playing and going on walks with me, I’ll be a loving and wonderful companion. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #:3537

Story
Sky is a loving adorable dog. She takes to people quickly. She trying to figure out what is out or not like laying on furniture and yard borders. She likes to get the zoomies when excited. She barks when you leave the house or she hears you coming from outside but doesn't spend a lot of time barking otherwise. She gets along with other dogs but then will get scared if she doesn't know they are playing and growl. She has never bothered our cats or free roam rabbit. She was rescued from a breeder when they decided she couldn't have more puppies. Her age is unknown but we think maybe 6 or 7. She loves belly rubs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Popper is an adorable Beagle with a nose that never quits and a heart full of joy. Like a true beagle, he loves snoofing around the field, following exciting scents wherever they lead, and zooming around with happy, floppy-eared enthusiasm. Running and playing are some of his favorite pastimes, especially when he has toys to toss or another dog to chase around. His foster family says he’s the bestest boy, and it’s easy to see why — Popper is ready to bring love, fun, and endless tail wags to his forever home. REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another fur buddy Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
