Story
Jolene is a lovable, smart family dog. She is fantastic with children, was born into a family of youngins, toddler through teens, 5 of them. She is clever, and loves to explore and run free. Our other dogs are trained off leash, she will come back, when she feels. We make sure to be mindful when receiving packages or guests, for Jolene is keen on opportunities to be free. She would be happy in a home with children and other pets, though she does like her one on one attention. She has a good nose, and a desire to please.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Bean. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound through no fault of my own and I am now looking for a loving family to join. I am a very sweet and happy girl. I love people and I get along well with other dogs. I was a house dog with my previous owner and I appear to be housebroken. I get along well with most of the other dogs I've met and I like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Charlie is a mix of Beagle, and Im told ,Jack Russel terrier. He is full of energy and needs an active human. He loves his squeaky toys and plays fetch mostly with his pink hippo toy. I bought Charlie from a private seller on FB. Charlie is a very intelligent dog( I am not a good trainer 😞. Charlie traveled well, .Charlie has all shots . He knows commands sit, stop, drop it, stay, wait, and he is crate trained, while I work. He loves the parks . He needs a strong human to continue training. He is half house broken, meaning he goes out on leash and uses bathroom, but he doesn't alert to go out. He does like to chew things, but never wood or my furniture.., He loves his treats and will sit for them. He is used to being on my furniture and bed. My house is his house too. He loves to sleep under the covers.Charlie does need a vet visit, as he makes sound as if pulling on leash and choking.. I cant afford to get him checked out. Charlie is approx 28 lbs.. Born Oct.8th 2024.

Story
Milo (and his brother, Ace) are both looking for their forever home due to the passing of their former owner. They are currently residing at the Long Run Pet Hospital in Wheeling, WV, where they were surrendered.  Milo is 2 years old and a beagle/bulldog mix -- known as a Beabull. This breed mix is active, playful and make great companions and family dogs for an active person or family. Both Milo and Ace exhibit the quintessential beagle/mix with the happy personality and attentive tail to show enthusiasm. Milo is very energetic, curious and does well on a leash. He loves attention and returns it with a big smile.  Milo is a sturdy boy that would make a great companion for someone who not only commits to providing lots of playtime but also loves to snuggle and go for long walks for "all the sniffs." He would benefit from basic obedience classes to teach him good manners. He should do well with another dog of his size and playstyle but is far too energetic for cats and toddlers. Older, dog-savvy children may very well enjoy this beautiful boys as a snuggle buddy. Milo's soft, floppy ears and doggy smile are guaranteed to bring joy and laughter into your life. Milo is a courtesy post for the Long Run Pet Hospital. For more information or to arrange a meet, please call Long Run at 304-232-2605. May 12, 2025, 12:57 pm

Story
Hey there, I’m Rooney! I’m a 5-year-old Beagle/Redbone Coonhound mix, and while I might look like a potato or maybe even a hunting dog who’s enjoyed a few too many snacks, I’m so much more! I’m a loyal protector and a world-class couch potato, though, I’m currently on a 'fitness journey' to find my inner athlete again. My foster mom has me on this 'diet' food—I wasn't a fan at first, but hey, it grows on you! I currently weigh 67 lbs, but my ideal weight is probably more like 30-45 lbs. Right now, my goal is to shed 20 pounds so I can really zoom around the yard and enjoy the long walks I love. My doctor said I might be double my ideal weight, but my heart sounds wonderful and that makes me so happy. I’m a perfect house guest: house-broken, crate-trained, and I never touch 'human' stuff. However, if you give me a stuffed toy, consider that squeaker evicted—it’s my favorite hobby! I am such an easy going dog that gets along with every dog and human I meet, though tend to bark at anybody new so they know I'm in charge. I am neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready to be your best friend! I am looking for someone to continue my fitness journey so I can live a long and healthy life with unlimited snuggles on the couch. Do you think you're the one for me? Rooney is available now for adoption through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale Pa, 15144 KL#16182 ##2635977##

Story
Meet Bluey! This sweet 10-week-old pup, believed to be a Beagle mix, came into rescue with his momma and five siblings. Based on his mom’s size (around 30 lbs) and Bluey’s current weight of just under 10 lbs, he’s expected to grow into a happy, medium-sized dog when fully grown. Like all puppies, Bluey will need continued house training, crate training, and help learning good manners as he grows—but he’s at the perfect age to learn and thrive with consistent guidance. Bluey is an independent pup who still loves affection, happily leaning his whole body into your hand when you pet him. He’s wonderful with toddlers, cats, and large dogs, making him a great fit for many types of homes. He is neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 2/15/26 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.  ##2655292##
