Story
Jolene is a lovable, smart family dog. She is fantastic with children, was born into a family of youngins, toddler through teens, 5 of them. She is clever, and loves to explore and run free. Our other dogs are trained off leash, she will come back, when she feels. We make sure to be mindful when receiving packages or guests, for Jolene is keen on opportunities to be free. She would be happy in a home with children and other pets, though she does like her one on one attention. She has a good nose, and a desire to please.

Story
Meet Winston, a loyal, food-loving homebody looking for a calm, stable home. He’s a sweet, quirky adult dog who thrives in a quiet environment with a predictable routine. Winston enjoys daily walks, cozy naps, toys, and treats, and loves relaxing near his person or sleeping in bed. He’s affectionate on his own terms, will follow you around, gently ask for attention, and talk when he wants something. He’s sensitive to loud voices or being cornered and does best with patient, positive handling. He can be nervous with strangers and other dogs but settles with time and space. He’s house-trained, sleeps through the night, and is very food-motivated and a bit of a scavenger, so a tidy home is important. Winston is not suited for small kids, frequent travel, or busy households—car rides stress him out. He’s happiest with an adult-only home, minimal chaos, and someone who appreciates a loyal companion and peaceful connection.

Story
Milo (and his brother, Ace) are both looking for their forever home due to the passing of their former owner. They are currently residing at the Long Run Pet Hospital in Wheeling, WV, where they were surrendered.  Milo is 2 years old and a beagle/bulldog mix -- known as a Beabull. This breed mix is active, playful and make great companions and family dogs for an active person or family. Both Milo and Ace exhibit the quintessential beagle/mix with the happy personality and attentive tail to show enthusiasm. Milo is very energetic, curious and does well on a leash. He loves attention and returns it with a big smile.  Milo is a sturdy boy that would make a great companion for someone who not only commits to providing lots of playtime but also loves to snuggle and go for long walks for "all the sniffs." He would benefit from basic obedience classes to teach him good manners. He should do well with another dog of his size and playstyle but is far too energetic for cats and toddlers. Older, dog-savvy children may very well enjoy this beautiful boys as a snuggle buddy. Milo's soft, floppy ears and doggy smile are guaranteed to bring joy and laughter into your life. Milo is a courtesy post for the Long Run Pet Hospital. For more information or to arrange a meet, please call Long Run at 304-232-2605. May 12, 2025, 12:57 pm

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Bean. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound through no fault of my own and I am now looking for a loving family to join. I am a very sweet and happy girl. I love people and I get along well with other dogs. I was a house dog with my previous owner and I appear to be housebroken. I get along well with most of the other dogs I've met and I like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Not good with dogs, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Got her from family that had a few other dogs, she is up to date on all her shots but is not spayed. She’s a great loving dog and very loyal, there have been a few occasions that she got out without a leash and all I had to do was start walking away and she came running straight back to me. I’ve been have a lot of trouble with training her on my own and had a change in my work schedule that unfortunately has made caring for her extremely difficult for me and her and I feel that I’m only doing a disservice to her if I try to keep her.

Story
CORI Female 8 years Attributes Adult home only preferred Single dog home Dog friendly Good w/cats Requires a fence Housetrained Good in cars Cori is a sweet beagle girl with an adorable underbite. She was obviously very much loved in her previous home, but sadly, her mom passed away. Now, at 8 years old, Cori is looking for a forever home where she can be spoiled again. An adult-only home where she can have ample time to settle in would be best for Cori. She would prefer a quiet lifestyle (no cities or busy neighborhoods for Cori) and would like to be the only dog in the household. That being said, Cori enjoys her visits to doggy daycare where she can socialize with other dogs. Cori also does well with cats. Cori will thrive in a home where she has a regular routine and will be walked daily so her beagle nose can be used to its fullest potential. She’s house trained, but she doesn’t potty on leash, so a fenced yard is a must. Car rides with Cori are a breeze – she’s the perfect passenger when it’s time to hit the road! Because Cori was displaying some behavior that we wanted to better understand, we sent her to a certified professional dog trainer. Cori was already on medication for general anxiety, and she underwent thorough behavioral and medical evaluations to determine if there was something else that was affecting her behavior. We discovered that Cori’s underbite was causing a lot of jaw pain, and her discomfort was affecting how she interacted with the world. Since starting daily anti-inflammatory medication, Cori has bloomed beautifully. According to her trainer, she now has a good appetite and is a “total foodie.” Her confidence has increased, she’s more playful and more at ease meeting new people, and she has learned to ignore distractions while she’s on leash. Best of all, Cori is now ready to find her new forever home. If Cori seems like the beagle buddy you’ve been looking for, please contact Midwest BREW to learn more about her. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
