Hello! I am new to the shelter! Story
Jolene is a lovable, smart family dog. She is fantastic with children, was born into a family of youngins, toddler through teens, 5 of them. She is clever, and loves to explore and run free. Our other dogs are trained off leash, she will come back, when she feels. We make sure to be mindful when receiving packages or guests, for Jolene is keen on opportunities to be free. She would be happy in a home with children and other pets, though she does like her one on one attention. She has a good nose, and a desire to please.

Story
Milo (and his brother, Ace) are both looking for their forever home due to the passing of their former owner. They are currently residing at the Long Run Pet Hospital in Wheeling, WV, where they were surrendered.  Milo is 2 years old and a beagle/bulldog mix -- known as a Beabull. This breed mix is active, playful and make great companions and family dogs for an active person or family. Both Milo and Ace exhibit the quintessential beagle/mix with the happy personality and attentive tail to show enthusiasm. Milo is very energetic, curious and does well on a leash. He loves attention and returns it with a big smile.  Milo is a sturdy boy that would make a great companion for someone who not only commits to providing lots of playtime but also loves to snuggle and go for long walks for "all the sniffs." He would benefit from basic obedience classes to teach him good manners. He should do well with another dog of his size and playstyle but is far too energetic for cats and toddlers. Older, dog-savvy children may very well enjoy this beautiful boys as a snuggle buddy. Milo's soft, floppy ears and doggy smile are guaranteed to bring joy and laughter into your life. Milo is a courtesy post for the Long Run Pet Hospital. For more information or to arrange a meet, please call Long Run at 304-232-2605. May 12, 2025, 12:57 pm

Story
CORI Female 8 years Attributes Adult home only preferred Single dog home Dog friendly Good w/cats Requires a fence Housetrained Good in cars Cori is a sweet beagle girl with an adorable underbite. She was obviously very much loved in her previous home, but sadly, her mom passed away. Now, at 8 years old, Cori is looking for a forever home where she can be spoiled again. An adult-only home where she can have ample time to settle in would be best for Cori. She would prefer a quiet lifestyle (no cities or busy neighborhoods for Cori) and would like to be the only dog in the household. That being said, Cori enjoys her visits to doggy daycare where she can socialize with other dogs. Cori also does well with cats. Cori will thrive in a home where she has a regular routine and will be walked daily so her beagle nose can be used to its fullest potential. She’s house trained, but she doesn’t potty on leash, so a fenced yard is a must. Car rides with Cori are a breeze – she’s the perfect passenger when it’s time to hit the road! Because Cori was displaying some behavior that we wanted to better understand, we sent her to a certified professional dog trainer. Cori was already on medication for general anxiety, and she underwent thorough behavioral and medical evaluations to determine if there was something else that was affecting her behavior. We discovered that Cori’s underbite was causing a lot of jaw pain, and her discomfort was affecting how she interacted with the world. Since starting daily anti-inflammatory medication, Cori has bloomed beautifully. According to her trainer, she now has a good appetite and is a “total foodie.” Her confidence has increased, she’s more playful and more at ease meeting new people, and she has learned to ignore distractions while she’s on leash. Best of all, Cori is now ready to find her new forever home. If Cori seems like the beagle buddy you’ve been looking for, please contact Midwest BREW to learn more about her. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
BAILEY (female) 1 year Attributes: Does not like cats Good on car rides Requires another dog Medium energy Not best for apartment Snuggly Good with kids over 4 House trained Playful Dog friendly Bailey is a gorgeous 1 year old chocolate tri-colored beagle girl with golden eyes and the prettiest springling of freckles. She is small and only weighs 22 pounds. She was an owner surrender because she played too rough with their cat. She has lived with kids and loved sleeping in bed with their 7-year-old son. She enjoyed playing with their 65-pound husky. They did not have a fenced yard and was not able to house train her so she will require a fenced yard as she will not potty on a tie out or a leash. In her foster home she enjoys playing with the resident beagle and doing zoomies in the yard. She loves her daily walk and can walk 2-3 miles with no problem. We've worked hard on her housetraining and she is doing great as long as you go out with her and take her out every 3-4 hours. She also knows how to use a doggie door. She loves to sleep with foster mommy at night and curls up close. She's very loving, outgoing and sweet. As are most beagles, she is very food motivated and will sit for a treat. She does not like to be crated except when she rides in one in the car. Her perfect family would be active, have another dog for her to play with, take her daily walks and give her lots and lots of snuggles. If you think Bailey is a good match for your family, please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor for more information. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
SONNY 2 years Attributes Single dog home Playful Housetrained Potties on leash Crate trained Requires a fence Sonny is a very sweet and handsome young beagle that was found as a stray in Ohio. He is approximately 2 1/2 years old, 27 lbs., and appears to be a smaller sized beagle. He is very athletic and loves to run and play. He has a big personality and is very smart. Sonny would do best in a beagle experienced home as he is your typical beagle (adorable with a side of mischievous!). He sits nicely for treats, potties on leash, and sleeps quietly in a crate at night. He will also stay in a crate during the day as long as he has something to keep his mind occupied but really prefers being with his people on the couch. He is very curious and loves to explore. During quiet times, he loves to entertain himself with chew toys. A fenced in yard is a plus as he was a stray and was out exploring the world without boundaries. Sonny will do best in a home where he can be the only pet and where his humans are mostly home. He could also benefit from training classes to build confidence and develop the skills he needs to become a well-adjusted and successful companion in his new home. He is searching for a special home that will love him and introduce him to a wonderful new life. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi, I’m Betty!I’m a 7-year-old brown and white Basset Hound mix with a sweet face and an even sweeter soul. I was transferred from another shelter to give me a better chance at finding my forever home and I’m really hoping that home might be yours.I’m a gentle senior gal who loves cozy naps, soft blankets, and spending time with my people. I have that classic hound charm: soulful eyes, a calm and loving nature, and a peaceful presence that makes you want to sit down and relax with me for a while. I may be past the puppy stage, but don’t worry, I still have plenty of love to give and would make a wonderful, loyal companion.I also come with some great bonuses! I’m housebroken, I walk beautifully on a leash, and I know how to enjoy the simple things in life. I tend to bond more quickly with women and can be a little shy around men at first, but with gentle, proper introductions, I warm up pretty fast.If you have room in your heart (and on your couch) for a deserving senior who just wants love and comfort, I’d really love to meet you! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict.I am a senior dog that is eligible for the Senior 2 Senior Adoption Program! The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neuteringAdoption fee: $95.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older.
