After struggling to thrive at a shelter in the South, Bo was consistently overlooked until he finally found his way to us. This charming 9-year-old beagle is making wonderful progress, having already dropped six pounds on his journey to a healthier weight. Bo is a relaxed soul who absolutely lives for his daily walks; he dances and wiggles with pure joy the second he spots his leash. Because he has such great stamina and a love for movement, he makes a perfect, active companion for those helping him reach his fitness goals. He is well-behaved on a leash with just a little guidance and remains calm and steady while tethered during car rides. Bo is an incredibly loving boy who can be quite devoted to his humans and his treats. Because he prefers to have his family all to himself, he would do best as the only pet, though he remains polite and friendly when encountering other dogs out on walks. True to his breed, Bo loves to vocalize, "singing" during mealtime or whenever he spots people, cars, or other animals from the window. He also has a classic beagle nose and will instinctively alert or howl when he picks up an interesting scent, particularly when he is on the trail of a rabbit. This affectionate dog craves human connection and would be happiest in a household where his people are home often. While he is house-trained and has lovely manners, he is not a fan of being crated and may find a bit of mischief if left to roam the house completely alone. Ruby is a young, friendly, playful beagle. At 2 years old and weighing 25 lbs, she’s affectionate and loves food, often bouncing with excitement at mealtime. She eats quickly and searches for more but is respectful of other dogs’ meals, staying out of their bowls. She enjoys being outdoors and is generally well-behaved, though she can climb chain-link fences and slip through open slats and gaps, so any fenced yard must be secure. Ruby loves attention and actively seeks it out. She especially enjoys being petted and will gently nudge to keep the affection going. She’s charmingly awkward, preferring to stand on you rather than sit on your lap, and twists into funny positions to snuggle. When not playing, she’s happy to relax in her favorite chair or curl up next to another dog. Ruby has an excited, high-pitched squeal when she’s on a scent or thinks something exciting is happening outside. It doesn’t last long, but it’s not ideal for apartment living. She’s playful with other dogs and surprisingly rough-and-tumble for her size, often wrestling with bigger dogs. While generally playful, she can become overwhelmed and growly if another dog approaches unexpectedly, though it’s all bravado without aggression and she takes verbal correction well. Timber is an adorable 3-year-old, weighing 28 lbs and a mix of 50% Australian Cattle Dog and 50% Beagle, sporting a charming, bobbed tail. He loves being outdoors, running and playing, often showing herding behaviors that make him excited, rambunctious, and vocal sometimes overwhelming himself. A playmate who can handle his energetic style would be ideal. A free spirit, Timber makes it clear he dislikes being crated. He’s housetrained and enjoys the comfort of sleeping on the human bed. Affectionate and fond of belly rubs, this lively boy needs plenty of daily opportunities to burn off his energy. Like many active young dogs, without enough exercise he can get into mischief. Timber requires a patient adopter who can provide a stable, loving home and help him learn to dial back his herding tendencies and recognize when other dogs are ready to stop playing. In the right setting, Timber will thrive into a confident, affectionate companion. Timber will head north once an adopter or foster is found.

Nibsy is around 10 years old and came to us mid September after being used for hunting and living outside for her entire life. She is incredibly sweet and soaking up as much love as she can get. She will need an adopter who can keep the consistency with potty breaks and going outside because she has never been indoors before, she is doing great so far! She is good with other dogs and has been OK with cats so far too. She is very sweet and has a lot of potential. If you'd like to donate towards dogs like Sprig, we could use all the help that we could get. The seniors tend to be the most costly to take in but they deserve a chance too.
