Story
Rex is a 3 1/2-year-old Beagle/Australian Shepherd mix who is ready to find his forever home. Rex forms deep bonds with his person and is incredibly loving once he feels safe and comfortable. He isn’t the kind of dog for everyone—but for the right person and in the right environment, he will be a very loyal and devoted companion. Rex needs to be with an experienced human, preferably with some experience with herding breeds. This is not a beginner dog. He needs someone committed to providing structure, ongoing training and both mental and physical motivation. He needs an adult-only, pet-free home where he is the sole focus, and his boundaries are consistently understood and respected. Experience handling resource guarding would be helpful. Rex needs time to build trust with his human. His forever family will need to be dog savvy, understanding the importance of respecting his boundaries and recognizing the subtle cues a dog gives when it's uncomfortable, to avoid pushing him beyond his comfort level. Rex appreciates having his personal space honored, especially when resting, so it's imperative that he is the one who approaches for affection, not the other way around. The reward for your restraint is that when he comes to you, it's because he truly wants that connection. He needs a home where he is allowed to settle in at his own pace and where the humans possess the self-control to let Rex truly learn to trust - even if it takes months or years. His people must understand that they can't let their guard down after a couple of weeks. His affection and approach don’t mean you're in the clear. It means he's starting to trust. A pattern of slow, clear, consistent interactions with him combined with structure and predictability will help the trust grow and strengthen. We believe that with an owner who is serious about building a relationship with him, he will be able to trust and will be a great dog. He's done very well with a foster who has worked with him in this way, so we know he's capable.

Story
Laney is a sweet, gentle, and quiet young beagle, about 3 years old and weighing 32 pounds. She’s a little shy at first, but once she feels at ease, she quickly warms up with a wagging tail and a love for affection. With time and care in a loving home, she’s sure to flourish. She’s not used to walking on a leash yet, often stopping or flattening down, so she’ll need some practice, encouragement, and patience. A fenced-in yard would be perfect for her to explore and feel safe. While she’d enjoy having another dog around, what she really craves is human companionship. She’s settling into her foster home quickly, happily snuggling with her foster dad. Well-behaved and curious, she enjoys sniffing around the yard and comes when called. This low-to-medium-energy sweetheart is ready to find a family to call her own. Laney is being fostered south of Boston.

Story
Beeg came to us with another beagle from a rescue in the south. He is about a year old and 31 lbs. This sweet boy was found stray and pulled by the rescue. We readily welcomed him to HLBR and are excited to find him a forever home. Beeg is friendly and good with other dogs. He can be shy but is also affectionate with people. This medium energy boy rides well in the car and is crate-trained. Beeg may need some leash training because that beagle nose makes him very curious! He's a vocal one too! We think Beeg would do best with a fenced in yard in a rural or suburban environment

Story
Rambo is a lovable 26-lb., friendly 2-year-old who charms everyone he meets. Although he may be shy at first, his gentle heart quickly melts, making him a loyal friend to people, other dogs, and children alike. Rambo will be at his best in a peaceful home with a secure, fenced yard where he can explore safely. Currently, Rambo waits patiently in his kennel, eager to share his affection. He'll bark to announce his presence and wiggle with joy when you pick him up, showing off his playful, medium-energy spirit. Crate-trained and well-mannered, Rambo loves walks. He's a champion leash walker. He is bravely managing epilepsy with medication. His only quirk: he gets carsick unless securely crated, but that doesn't slow his enthusiasm for new adventures. Rambo is ready to embark on his next journey and is searching for a loving foster or forever family so he can get out of the kennel.

Story
Daphne is a sweet, friendly, and outgoing girl who quickly becomes a favorite with everyone she meets. A total lovebug, she grows more affectionate as she settles in and often greets people by flopping over for a belly rub. About a year old and weighing 22 lbs, this adorable beagle mix is looking for a family to shower her with the same love she gives. She adores giving kisses and, having never lived in a home, will need some guidance on good manners. Like many young dogs, she's playful, a bit jumpy, and curious about everything sometimes climbing where she shouldn't, but she's learning the rules. Daphne enjoys toys and bones, is usually very quiet, and so far, has only let out a few playful whines. She can clear baby gates, climb wire fencing, or slip through gaps, so shell need a secure yard or plenty of exercise without one. A home with kids over 10 is best to prevent escapes. She rides well in a crate during car trips and hasn't had a single accident in her foster home. Daphne is a great little dog and will make a wonderful family dog with a little direction. Daphne is currently being fostered south of Boston and is available for visits.

Story
Tanner is a handsome 6 years old, 36 lbs gentleman who was surrendered with two other beagles due to a relocation in the south. He's good with dogs and cats, and is shy, but friendly with people. It takes him a bit to warm up, but once he does he is a very loving. Tanner is a low-medium energy couch potato who would love another dog in the home to cuddle and play with. He prefers to get his exercise on walks instead of in the yard. He's a quiet little man who rides well tethered in the car. He's crate-trained and is close to being house-trained. Tanner is fostering south of Boston.
